  1. Administrator emails for asset messages

    Currently, any notifications from researchers regarding asset communications are only visible to administrators via the task list. Even though assets with active messages are separated into its own category in the task list, we would like notifications for assets that already have active messages and received additional messages to be more direct. Notifications could be sent as an email to the administrator or at the least some notification in the task list that there is a new message and which asset it belongs to. As is, it’s not clear which asset has received an additional message and requires drilling down…

  2. Marking Honors, scholarship, projects, or activities as "featured" to better highlight them

    Some faculty or researchers have honors, activities, scholarship, or projects that in some sense defines them. Instead of those items blending in with everything else, it would be nice to have a way of highlighting or featuring certain things. As an example, if someone won the nobel prize, they would most certainly want that to be made more prominent in some way.

  3. Searching for Labels

    When it comes to customizing and configuring the labels (Configuration > Portal & Profiles > General Settings > Labels), we have to go through each label section one by one to search for the desired label to update. Is it possible to add a search feature to Labels, such as in Alma where we can search either by description or code name?

  4. Do you have researchers with the same name? We need a way to distinguish between them

    We have several researchers with the same name in our institution.
    When in an asset, we want to connect the asset to the correct researcher.
    Currently, there is no way to distinguish between them (especially if they are previously affiliated).

    We suggest including the previous internal affiliation if it is a previously affiliated researcher.

  5. Add notes that display in Esploro brief record display

    Though many Esploro researcher deposits naturally disappear from the research deposits queue as part of their lifecycle -- approved, returned to researchers, etc. -- for deposits that for one reason or another have to remain in the deposits queue for an extended period, a type of internal note explaining their presence in the brief display would be very helpful.

    In our case, our library does the work of seeking OA permissions for deposits, leaving deposits in the queue awaiting responses for a period of days, weeks, and in rare cases months. As you may imagine, this can build up very…

  6. Option to sort collections by date

    We would like the option to set the default sort for collections to be by date. Relevance is not useful for collections because they are a preselected group of materials; there is not yet a search for which relevance applies. We often use collections to highlight new content so it would be helpful if we could have new content at the top of the results by default so users do not need to change the sort order.

  7. Esploro - sword - Deposits - Integrate a Normalization Process based on a Normalization rule

    We manged to create an integration profile for using SWORD to deposit assets from our CRIS to Esploro (
    https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/esploro/integrations/sword/ ).
    We would like however to manipulate/normalize imported values we are importing, as we are used to do with Alma imports, where we can we create a Normalization Rule (NR), integrate it in a process and use it in an Import profile.
    In Esploro we have NR, we have Processes, but still there is no way to integrate the process in the Sword integration profile / import process.
    Please add the feature for addin a Normalization Process to the SWORD…

  8. Display Author/Creator publications on Portal 'Relevance' results first, before assets they have supervised/edited

    When searching or refining by Author/Creator, the theses and dissertations the researcher has supervised, as well as book chapters where they are the editor of the book, come up first in the default 'Relevance' results.

    This is misleading and confusing for users, and frustrating for researchers who want their own scholarly works displayed first and consider the works they author the most 'relevant' when searching/refining via their name.

    Is there a way that publications/works that a researcher is the actual author/creator, displays first in the results?

  9. Researcher engagement type – make it possible for researchers to add and edit

    It is possible to add researcher engagement type to the profiles. At the present, this feature is restricted to system administrators. It would be most beneficial if the researcher could add and edit the engagement type themselves.

  10. Notification for Staff when asset is self-deposited

    When a researcher uses the self-deposit method, our staff would like to be notified that there is a deposit ready for checking. The only way to do this is to go to the task list and go to unassigned and then filter out to researcher deposited. This is not obvious to the staff. This leads to self deposited deposits being left for a year without realizing that no one has looked at it.

    It would be great to either create a new widget or even send an email to designated staff to have any new deposits to stand out!

  11. Impact Idea 6: Integration of Research Activity Identifier (RAiD)

    Integrate RAiD as a persistent identifier for research Projects and certain activities. RAiD will align with the European Open Science Cloud infrastructure, enhancing the visibility and traceability of research activities. This integration will support more robust Project identification and linking across various platforms.

  12. Add option to easily export internal organization structure to spreadsheet

    We would like to be able to export a file which includes:
    Top level unit | 2nd level unit | 3rd level unit | etc for all levels
    For example:
    Weizmann Institute | Chemistry Faculty | Organic Chemistry Department
    Weizmann Institute | Chemistry Faculty | Materials and Interfaces Department
    Weizmann Institute | Biochemistry Faculty | Molecular Cell Biology Department

  13. Enhancements for the Portal Profile Output Screen

    Please consider to add the following functionalities to the Portal Profile Output screen.

    (1) Search Bar: Implement a search bar to easily locate specific Assets within the researcher profile.

    (2) Increased Display Limit: Allow users to increase the number of Assets displayed per page (e.g., from the current 10 to 20 or 30).

    (3) Customizable Display Order: Provide options to change the display order of Assets within the researcher profile. (e.g. by name, date modified, etc.)

    The primary reason for this requests is the difficulty researchers face in finding specific Assets when they've uploaded a large number of files themselves.…

  14. Controlled vocabularies and metadata field limits

    To aid in the discovery of both researchers and assets, it would be great if the following functionality were available:

    1. Ability to limit keywords/research topics at the researcher level
    2. Ability to limit the length of the describe your research section of the profile
    3. Availability of more controlled vocabularies - preferably not LCSH, but a blend of subject-specific vocabularies (MeSH, Inspec, MLA, etc. -- maybe even the controlled vocabularies from the old CSA indexes given how good they are for the social sciences)
    4. Ability to limit keywords to just items from controlled vocabularies

  15. Add way to facet research deposit by assigned to person

    As staff members are learning how to add deposits to Esploro, I review the work. Now that we have several people adding items, it would be helpful to be able to filter to one specific person to aid in training/reviewing their work

  16. Send ETD notifications to faculty

    Currently when ETDs are published, faculty members who participated as advisors or committee members on the manuscript are listed in the contributors section, and it appears to be linked to their researcher profile. However, despite the manuscript being connected to said faculty members, they are not notified of the addition when the ETD is published and only the student is notified. We have some faculty members who would like to keep track of the manuscripts they have been on an advisory committee for, but there is currently no front end way.   17. Esploro - Add action for assigning a name variant to job Update Set of Research Assets

    Sometimes we need to bulk update the name displayed in the Discovery Portal for a Researcher. To do so we create a new name variant but we would also like to bulk update all assets related to this specific Researcher with the new "Name Variant".

    To do so an action "Choose Name Variant" could be added to existing Job: Update Set of Research Assets / Task Creator or Contributor

    Such a feature would also be very useful to refine the data after an import via file or an harvesting.

  18. Draft mediated deposits display in profile

    Currently, drafts of mediated deposits do not display in researcher profiles. Complicated mediated deposits like datasets often go through several drafts before they are ultimately approved and published. In these cases, it would be very useful for the draft deposit to display in the profiles of all affiliated researchers for their review and feedback.

  19. Improve Grant discovery in Research Portal

    We want to work with our Grants Office to track funding acquired by researchers. However, the only way to access grant information is through individual researcher profiles. I believe we can publish Analytics reports for grants to a public webpage in the meantime, but it would be nice to link grants to specific researcher profiles since we are already tracking this information.

  20. More flexibility in student works that are part of degree requirement

    We need more flexibility in student works that are part of degree requirements (degree culminating publications). These are often thought of as ETDs (theses and dissertations). However, some degrees do not require a thesis or dissertation and instead have a a capstone or a case report. These are very different than a thesis/dissertation, but the only option for student work at the end of a degree are the ETD options.
