No Auto-Send of Activity Report Letter
The Activity Report letter automatically tries to send when “Renew Selected” and “Renew All” are selected in Alma Patron Services. This is problematic for a few reasons:
The letter is triggered even when the letter is disabled in Letter Activity configuration. It generates a ‘fail’ message for staff.
The letter slows down processes dramatically depending on how many loans are attached to the account.
A workaround is to use the letter opt-out functionality, but we'd have to continually update all of our users with the opt-out in order for this to work well for us.
I would like to see this functionality updated so that disabling the letter is enough to not trigger the letter automatically. This functionality should also be fixed so that the letter does not slow down processes when there are many loans attached to an account.

Clarification: At Uppsala University we do not want the letter triggered when a due date is changed, but we do want to schedule the letter to be sent at intervals for all users. As it is now, we have to plan ahead when to send the Borrowing Activity Letter and only activate it when the job is running or we will get these extra letters sent when due dates are changed (the users do not understand why they receive the letter and contacts the library). We would like to be able to just activate the letter and letting it run by itself like other letters and we are also troubled by the ‘fail’ message for staff.

At Uppsala university we want to send the letter, but not triggered by renewals or changing due dates in Alma.

I thought, that setting the Opt-in as a default to "off/false" in the matching table would do the trick? If you like to start the job manually, you could set the default to "true".

Please consider this. It is incredibly confusing for patrons.

we would like to have the option to renew items, without alma will try to send an activity report, even if it's off.
please consider fixing it soon. -

Please disable the auto-send of the activity report upon renewal! This has been a source of confusion at our college as well. As a relatively new Alma user I spent a fair bit of time trying to find a configuration screen to turn this off, to no avail. I was pleased to see that other users were equally frustrated with this.
Our preference is to generate this report as follows:
-a scheduled job
-upon request through via the patron services screenBest to all!

We would also like the ability to send the borrowing activity email as scheduled (once a month) plus on demand when a borrower asks, but to turn it off so it doesn't automatically send when renewing items. This has caused us issues with borrowers who might have racked up many fines which we're in the process of waiving, and they've been upset receiving an automated email telling them they've got a huge fine to pay. To get round this, we have to warn them that the email is coming as part of the procedure, but it would be far better to have the control to turn it off from sending automatically in that situation.

Second the idea of Maya, that is, having an option to not send the letter when renewing items.
We would still like the letter to be sent through the scheduled job.

I would like to have an option not to send the letter when renewing items. This way, the letter can be enabled and we can use it when we want, but it will not be sent automatically upon renewal.

In addition, if a letter is turned off, "Failed" alert should display a more meaningful (and less alarmist) text, like "The Borrowing Activity Report queued by this action has been disabled."
