    Please consider this. Every single semester, we have to explain this "logic" to patrons; it's unintuitive, confusing, sends notices to spam folders, and makes the library look like it doesn't have its act together. I get punt the blame to the software developer (good), but it still wastes everyone's time (bad).

    Please do this. Many institutions have faculty members with well over 50 items out and renewals are time consuming in the present system.
