  1. Improve Alma Job Reports for Failed Record

    It would be extremely helpful if more details were given when there are failed records or records with exceptions on the jobs we run in Alma. Many of the job reports only report the number of failed records. It would be great if the report would provide MMSID information so the we know what records failed.

    We are investigating the options for enhancing the job reports as part of a general enhancement to the jobs UX, which will then allow gradually deploying report enhancements to the different jobs in Alma.

  2. Add "Search within results" box on a set

    It would be very useful if we had a search box of "Search within results", on a set we created with indication rules.

  3. Allow configuration of quick cataloguing form required fields

    We currently only use the quick cataloguing form at circulation desks to create quick records to loan items found on the shelves but not found on Alma. The items are loaned and then the work order routes them to the cataloguing team on return. All these items already have call numbers so we'd like the call number field to be a required field in the quick cataloguing form. Sometimes returned items are incorrectly returned to the shelves and if the quick catalogue record does not include the call number they are often impossible to track down.

    Dear all, we are currently looking into the possibility of a re-design of the quick cataloging functionality - we will take this request into consideration as part of this future change.

  4. New role for Manage Import Profiles

    Currently users must have a Cat Admin role or Gen Sys Admin role to be able to Manage Import Profiles (change/add profiles). This also gives them access to the Configuration area of Alma. There should be a role to permit users to Manage Import Profiles that does NOT also give them access to the Alma configuration area. Access to the Alma configuration menu should be separate from the ability to Manage Import Profiles.

  5. Ability to create a chosen quantity of predictions

    As someone who manages serial subscriptions, I would like the ability to choose the quantity of predictions I create for any given holdings record. This would allow for quicker navigation of list of items, and reduce the number of inaccurate predictions.

    It is not always desired to predict an entire year’s worth of predictions (which currently is the only option). Depending on the publishing frequency and the number of copies of a subscription, we can have 11 pages of predictions in a list of items, in addition to the received items.   6. Multiple Quick-Cataloging Templates

    Scenario:
    There are multiple workflows and purposes for which the Quick Cataloging interface is used. For example, in course reserves, staff frequently need to create records for different resource formats beyond book and article. Staff at the circulation desks need to create records any time an item brought to the desk is not found in Alma, and these resources can take any form - from sound recordings on CD to equipment like laptop chargers.

  7. Raise the limit to total number of rejections ( currently 1000) for exporting records that are not imported (due to import profile setup)

    There is currently no limit to the number or records that can be imported into Alma (as far as I am aware).. there is however a limit of 1000 when needing to export the rejected data.. Workflows would be much better managed if this limit was raised to the total number of rejected records

  8. Add a "back to repository search" button to reduce the number of clicks

    Frequently when editing bib, item and holding records, we are forced to press the back button multiple times just to get back to the results list of the initial search. We have to retrace every step just to get back to the original search screen.

    It would be helpful to have a back button that does not merely retrace steps, but takes you back to the initial results list and repository search screen, thereby eliminating several clicks that add up to hundreds of clicks in a day.

  9. Ability to schedule manual jobs on a regular basis

    At our institution, we have some manual jobs we would like to schedule on a regular basis (daily, weekly, etc.). For example, after we purchase a physical title and a PO line is created in Alma, we run the manual job, change holding information on a logical set. This job updates the holding call number (852 $h and $i) from the bibliographic record and also updates the library and location (852 $b and $c) based on the Library of Congress call number in 852 $h.

  10. Adding the publisher location to the "Keywords" index in Alma

    Currently, the publisher location is not indexed in the general "Keywords" index in Alma. If someone wants to search for a certain publisher location, one must use the specific index because a "Keywords" search won't bring any results.
    This is particularly unpractical when searching for series or periodicals, as they often have similar names but different publishers or publisher locations, or later editions of a certain work which can be identified by the different publisher resp. publisher location.

  11. Add Previous and Next buttons to various screens

    After conducting a search and selecting a record to view, it would be nice to have Previous/Next buttons for navigation, rather than needing to always go "Back" and then select the next record in the list for viewing. This could also be useful in other areas, like the physical item editor, and perhaps in some Fulfillment functions.

    Dear all,

    As part of the new UX of the All Titles search, it will be possible to view the bibliographic record in the details pane of the record (on the right side of the screen or in full view), and navigate between the records in the search using up/down arrow buttons as well as by selecting another record in the search list (on the left side or the screen).

  12. Option to change default management tag publishing for bibs

    When creating or importing new bib records from an external source (especially OCLC), the bib's default management tag in the MDE is set to "Publish Bib" for publishing under "Export to WorldCat". However, "Publishing Holdings Only" is useful for the purposes of publishing our library's Local Holdings Records (LHRs), and other libraries may not want to publish bibs or holdings by default at all. The option to choose between one of these three publishing defaults would benefit libraries who would otherwise need to either regularly update batches of records or manually edit each one as they're created.

  13. Ability to suppress licenses from discovery

    Sometimes, licenses have confidentiality clauses, so we can't show them in Primo, but right now, it is an all or nothing prospect. it would be great if a checkbox on the record could suppress a confidential license from showing up in Discovery.

  14. Search possibilities as "Received X weeks ago" or "Available X weeks ago"

    Libraries sometimes wish to build logical sets from constantly changing data. For example, a logical set of items received in the last 30 days or a logical set of ebook portfolios activated in the last 15 days. The "Receiving date" (Physical items) and "Activation Date" (Electronic portfolios) search indexes only accept a specific date (selectable from a calendar) and only allow the operators "Equals", "Not Equals", "Before", "After", "Is Empty", and "Is Not Empty".   15. Allow sorting of itemized set members similarly to logical set results.

    In Manage Sets, enable sorting the members of itemized record sets by title, creator, and publication date, similar to the criteria available for sorting results of logical sets. Currently our only option for sorting the members of an itemized set is by exporting to Excel and manipulating the resulting spreadsheet, which doesn't allow for clean sorting by the same criteria.

  16. Default search option setting for external resources

    MD editor > Tools > Search external resources

    Search options for external resources such as title, creator, isbn, system number and year of publication are automatically filled in from a bib record. This make us to delete fields manually and spend time. It would be great to set search options at the institution level or individually.

  17. A way to set the Scan-in-Items drop-down-menu Status to our specific workflows

    In Cataloging when we scan in item barcodes to send a work order to shelf preparation or end-processing, the scan-in-Item Drop-down menu defaults to Cataloging. Acquisitions uses this to send material to us --but we want to send material to Shelf Preparation/End-Processing. So we have to manually mouse down to insert this everything single time. This is slow (uses up time). It would be faster and healthier (on our hands) if Ex Libris could reconfigure so any library unit in a library could unit set the Scan-in-Item Drop-down menu to default to (--or to "persist" or "stick" at--)the specific status…

  18. Customize Alma search indexes

    We would like to customize the search indexes in Alma for all MARC21 fields (not just localized fields). For instance, in the Alma advanced search > all titles > "Title" > we would like to change to "245 (Title)" to make it easier to identify the MARC21 field we want to search.

  19. Display the date a work order is created

    When a work order is created to put an item in process internally ("Technical Services (CAMS)" or "Show to supervisor" or "Preservation") it would be helpful to have Alma display the date this status change happened.

    It could be in the "item history", and/or the "In process" display, and /or in the "list of items." Currently, the receipt date is the last date displayed in these locations, which does not help with locating an in-process item.

  20. Expand "Create Physical Items Work Order" job to include work order Status

    The “Create Physical Item Work Orders” job should be expanded to allow users to add work order Status in addition to Type and Department to a set of records. Currently adding Status is a 2nd separate step. After running the job to apply Type and Department, you must then sign into the appropriate Currently At location, Manage In Process Items, and then apply the Work Order Status (limited to one screen of 20 records at a time).
