Allow CDI records and external resources to be added to Alma collections for Primo Collection Discovery
We appreciate being able to create curated collections of Alma records to highlight lists of recommended reading and similar tools in Primo VE Collection Discovery. Sometimes we have a title that we’d love to include in these lists, but then find that a record exists only in CDI but not Alma. This is true for certain video collections, for example, that have database-type collections in Alma (no portfolios). There may also be single external resources (websites, etc.) that we'd also like to highlight. Currently there is no way to add CDI records nor single external resources to these collections. You can create an import profile to create Alma records for materials held in external collections -- but in the use cases I have we would not want to harvest a full collection but only highlight a single title, or refer to an already-existing CDI record. Currently, our only option is to create a different resource (like a LibGuide or separate webpage) -- but it would be wonderful if Alma collections/Collection Discovery could be enhanced to enable broader, better, fuller usage.

Remove the character limit for the Resource Recommender Description field
Currently, there is either no limit or a large limit on the Description field of the Resource Recommender when files are uploaded from Excel.
However, if you open an existing Recommender to edit something (fix a typo, add additional keywords, update a URL), you are not permitted to save unless the Description field has fewer than 300 characters. This means I opt not to fix my typos, and I have to spend the time to rewrite the description to fit into <= 300 characters in order to update a URL. I find this limitation very frustrating.
Please either remove or substantially increase the character limit on the Resource Recommender Description field.

Determine source for Autocomplete-suggestions in a blended scope
In Primo you can activate autocomplete to get suggestions for search-queries based on what the end-user begins to type in the search-box.
We have tested the functionality and see that it could be useful for the end user to get these suggestions. However we see that the suggestions from the central index in some cases are a little strange and that you get suggestions from the entire index and not only the sources the institution has activated. This means that the end-user could get suggestions that gives 0 results.
The local index suggestions seems to be a lot more accurate and useful.
The source for suggestions are determined based on the scope. For local scopes you get the local suggestions, for a remote scope you get suggestions from the central index and in the blended scope you get suggestions from both local and central index.
We would like an option in the scope-definitions in Primo to decide the source of suggestions for blended scopes. Meaning that we could decide that we would like to get only the suggestions from the local index and not from the central index in blended scopes.

Several items in a single request
In the current context of global health crisis and containment, many of our libraries can only offer Click&Collect service for physical documentation access. Then, it seems critical to make the request service evolve in Primo (and Alma for the tracking).
Indeed, a reader who wants to request several documents must do so one by one from the bibliographic record by selecting the "pickup location", possibly a "start date", an "end date" and a "comment".
Couldn't you consider the possibility of creating a basket and then being able to request the entire basket at once?
ThanksThis new demand could also help to resolve this existing demand:

Adjust number of results Collection Discovery
Collection Discovery pages are great but loading 10 at a time is not enough. Would like to see adjustable results dial similar to what was recently released in Alma. Perhaps even up to 100 results on a page would be sufficient.

Option to highlight active tabs in Primo top pane
We would like the option to highlight active tabs in the Primo top pane. At present, it is not clear which tab is in use. Highlighting of active tabs supports navigation and improves user experience, but there is currently no easy way to implement this. Including an option to do so, for example via CSS, would be helpful.

Ranking of search results by Resource Sharing Library
Concerning search results in Primo : could it be made possible to rank different holdings of the same title by Resource Sharing Library of the patron? This way the patron would see on top of the list the item that is the easiest accessible to him. At present patrons often request items from another library because they did not notice the title is also available at their own library.

Improve usability of exclude/include facet options
Based on recent usability testing of the new UI we have found that our users appeared to be confused about how to include and exclude facet options from their results set. One of the main pain points seemed to be that they did not know that they were able to exclude a specific facet option (for example to exclude English items from the results set most of our users ticked all options under the language facet other then English rather then just excluding the English option).
At the moment the option to exclude only appears when someone hovers over the facet option, and it appears on the right of the text of the facet option. Although the option to include a facet also only appears when the mouse hovers over the text of the facet option because it appears on the left of the text it is more obvious, as users will be reading left to right, then something that appears after the text.
We feel the overall usability of the exclude/include facet option functionality could be improved by:
- Moving the exclude option so it is next to the include option on the left of the facet options
- Both options are made static so users are aware there are filtering options without the need to hover over the text of the facet option.
- Currently a tool tip exists for the exclude option, but there isn't a equivalent tool tip for include. We would like a tool tip to be available for both options.

Add DOI and PMID to Advanced Search Indexes in Primo VE
DOI and PMID searching can be augmented for enhancement in keyword searching in Primo VE, so that these identifiers can be searches as keywords. It would be very helpful to our researchers to be able to more efficiently and exactly search within Advanced Search fields for DOI and PMID. These fields can be searched within unique fields in the Citation Linker, so the indexes exist, but they are not available for inclusion in Advanced Search settings. We would like to be able to add DOI and PMID as options in Advanced Search settings in Primo VE.

Display all blocks and patron limits in Primo My Account
The My Account page in Primo only displays blocks of the blocks tab in the Alma user details page so that a patron who logs in Primo and unsuccessfully attemps to renew an item from the library isn’t notified about blocks that are applied based on patron limits/ library-definied rules such as maximum cash limit. The My Account page should display all blocks.

We would like patrons to be able to view their library barcode in Primo.
Under My Library Account > Personal Details, we think patrons should be able to view their library barcode number. We use ours in additional systems, and we think it would be helpful to point someone to their library account details.

Generate citation on multiple pinned items
Our users make heavy use of the generate citation button, but they currently have to do this one record at a time. It would make things easier for them if they could pin all the relevant items, and then go into My Account, select all their pinned items, and generate a citation for all of them.
They can currently perform several actions by batch on all pinned items - email results, export to Refworks and so on - but the generate citation action is not yet available to them.
The citation that appears could be simply plaint text, with the citations separated by line breaks.

Please make the MARC bib. 245 subfield p from the bibliographic record available.
The MARC 245 subfield p from the bibliographic record is not exposed to Primo. This means that the data in the b245p is not available to display to users in the My Account section of Primo, as part of the requesting process and on pull slips for items. This becomes important when the items have 245a data that is the same. For example, when a video game has the same name with more info in the 245p like the ones below.
b245a b245p
Angry birds. Star Wars
Angry birds. Trilogy
Assassin's creed. Brotherhood
Assassin's creed. Revelations
Batman. Arkham Asylum
Batman. Arkham city
Batman. Arkham origins
Call of duty. Black Ops
Call of duty. Black ops III would like to see the bib. 245 p added.

[Primo] - frbr - improve algorythm - consider all keys and not only the first matching key
In Primo FRBR documentation is explained that (I added ** signs):
"
In the FRBRization process, the keys are compared. If a record has a matching key with another record, it is added to the same FRBR group. Once a match is found, the system does not continue searching for matches since a record can belong to one FRBR group only.
"
In our experience this may lead to false positives. When comparing keys between frbr candidates, the system should consider instead the whole set of matching keys, not just the first matching one. And for example do not group records having more non matching keys than matching keys.In attachment an example where the books share the title and only 1 of the authors. This is not uncommon in case of exhibitions catalogues where the artist works together with the curators. FRBR considers the 2 different books as 2 different versions.
Here are matching keys of the record proposed as example:
Record 1 (2006):
<frbr><t>1</t><k1>$$Kubzroyoux jean christophe$$AA</k1><k1>$$Kubzdean tacita$$AA</k1><k1>$$Kubzwarner marina$$AA</k1><k1>$$Kubzgreer germaine$$AA</k1><k3>$$Kubztacita dean$$AT</k3></frbr>
Record2 (2004)

Allow patrons to disable FRBR + disable FRBR in advanced search
Hi
Our patrons run into a lot of problems caused by FRBR.
Please
– Add a checkmark to allow the patrons to disable FRBR per search, no matter if logged in or not.
(like "Include articles without fulltext")– Make it a parameter in the patron settings
– Disable FRBR as default in advanced search
This could also be used as a feeble workaround for the missing exact search https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308176-primo/suggestions/18579556-add-a-true-exact-search-to-advanced-search-type

""group versions together" where users can choose to if to have search results grouped by versions or turn it off.

Real Time Availability for Electronic Resources

"Search within results"
We would like to propose a "Search within results" option for Primo. "Search within results" would be a keyword search across all fields present in a user's results list. This is an option offered in common databases, such as Web of Science, so it is something users expect. We feel this search function would increase Primo's usability particularly for inexperienced users.

Show/hide password in the login screen
On the Primo new UI login screen, we would find useful to have an "eye" symbol beside the password field, which would allow to show/hide the password.

Display both active (payable) AND accruing fines/fees at Fine+fees tab of a user’s account
Fines+fees tab of a user’s account does not show the balance of the accruing fines. Fines+fees tab doesn’t include the information of the loans that have accruing fines on them, and this confuses clients. They should be able to see this information easily and understand the difference between active and accruing fines.
We propose that Fine+fees tab of a user’s account should display the total amount of active and accruing balance; the active (payable) balance with the Pay button beside it and the accruing balance. We also wish that the fine type of the loans that have accruing fines would be "Accruing". To illustrate the difference between these two, the following text could be shown on the tab: "Active balance is the sum that you can pay immediately; accruing balance can be paid only after you have either renewed or returned the loans in question. Current fines balance is the sum of active and accruing balance."
We also wish that the previous specification of balance (total-active-accruing) would be visible on the Overview tab along with the current "Pay fine" button.
Please see the attached document. There is a related idea that has already been accepted on Alma's Idea exchange: https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308173-alma/suggestions/44219130-display-both-active-payable-and-accruing-fines-f

Item policy translations
In Alma the Institutions have no possibility to add the translations for the policies. In multilingual consortia environments the only possibilities are to display in Discovery the policy description in English or to add all description translations in the same field. Neither these solutions are user friendly.
The translations should be distributed from the Network.105 votes
