  1. Primo NDE: Full Record Services - split up View It/Get It into its separate sections to allow reordering

    When configuring a view (either NDE or VE) in the Full Record Services tab, getit_link1 (View It/Get It) includes BOTH of the sections View It (Default label: View Online) and Get It (Default label: Get It, sub label: Locations). The combined sections works in Primo VE because requests are included in Get It. However, now that NDE has a new separate Requests section, the original View It/Get It should be split into its separate sections to allow institutions to customize the order of all three sections.

  2. Increase Brief Item Display Field Limit in Primo NDE (Support item.brief.4+)

    In Primo VE, libraries can configure more than three fields in the Brief Item Display (e.g., item.brief.1–4), which allows key item-level information such as location, call number, availability, and Terms of Use to be shown clearly and separately.

    In Primo NDE, the Brief Item Display is currently limited to only three fields (item.brief.1–3), and the fourth field is not supported. This reduces configurability compared to Primo VE and forces institutions to combine multiple data points into a single field or omit information from the brief view.

  3. Ability to edit and translate error message from "Temporary Result-Limit Due to High Traffic"

    In March 2026, a temporary 500-result limit was introduced to combat bot activity, along with a new error message to inform end users. Unlike other system messages in Primo VE, this message cannot be edited or translated.

  4. NDE: Make all search profile slots visible in the drop-down list without the need for scrolling

    We are currently testing the NDE and have noticed that when we go to the search profile slot drop-down to choose a filter (please see attached image), we see only three of our four search profile slots at a time and have to scroll down to see the fourth. In our current Primo VE, all four options are visible without a user's having to scroll (please see attachment). Could visibility of all search profile slots in the drop-down list be restored in the NDE?

    As a library staff member and end user, I would like direct, one-click access to copy a permalink from both the brief and full record displays so that I can quickly and efficiently share stable links to resources without navigating through multiple menu layers.

  6. Optimise vertical banner space (NDE)

    Out of the box, the NDE Vertical banner wastes the bottom 1/2 to 1/3 of the screen space it is allocated. At the same time, the description text is truncated, requiring the user to hover (or hold on a small screen) to know the details.

    The lower part of the banner accommodates an image, which most institutions will likely use decorative images for, as it is not easy to determine which part of the image might be cropped/selected to display.

    It would be helpful for users to just be able to read a longer description, and this could be accommodated…

  7. Primo VE facet for collections regardless of inventory type

    I would like to propose an out of the box facet for collections that can include all 3 inventory types.

    We have users that need to be able to filter their search results by ‘collections’ or groupings that contain physical, electronic and digital resources. For example, our Original Materials ‘collection’ is made of physical items, digital items and electronic items that we have catalogued in local electronic collections.

    Currently, there are OOTB facets based on physical inventory (Library and Location) but none that combine all 3 inventory types.

  8. Research Assistant: make filter button more noticeable

    It appears to us that several of our users of the Research Assistant don't notice the filter option left to the search box. Our request is to make the filter button more noticeable, e.g. by making it blue like the arrow to the left of the search box and by and by providing a mouse-over text.

  9. Purchase Request date

    Add the user's purchase request date on their Primo library card in their account.

    We would like that the user can see the date when he create a purchase request date on his Primo library card in his account.

    We think that's will be an improvement for the users.

  10. Allow Online Services Order to sort by current access

    We need the ability to move to top of View It a service with current access (this means the coverage statement is open-ended, ie Available from 1998 - current).

    Users get overwhelmed with the long list of services often displayed, and ordering the list according to interface or electronic collection name doesn't address the most important aspect, whether there is current access or not. As an example, on Proquest interface Z, journal title X may provide current access, but journal title Y on the same Proquest interface Z may only have archive access.   11. My Library Card: add sort by date option to requests list

    it is currently only possible to sort the requests list within My Library Card by status or title - our users would very much appreciate the option to sort by request date as well - thanks for considering!

  12. My Library Card: Option to hide Personal Details

    It should be possible to hide Personal Details section under My Account in Primo VE.

    We are able to disable the labels in the following, but seems no option to hide the Personal Details section. Even if we disabled the labels for this tab, it is not completely disable from appearing or being clickable.

    1. Configuration > Discovery > Display Configuration > Labels > All code Tables > Library card Labels
    2. Configuration > Discovery > Library Card Configuration > Personal Details Configuration

  13. Ability to edit the OTB (Out-of-the-Box) search and facet rules in Primo VE

    We would like to be able to edit the OTB search and facet rules. This is necessary for parity with PBO. There are several things that we were able to do in PBO that we cannot reproduce in VE because of the lack of this functionality. In the PBO OTB author search and facet, we were able to include dates and qualifiers from names in the LCNAF, which improved precision.   14. Support the use of wildcards within phrase searches

    At present, the use of wildcards within a phrase search is not supported in CDI. This functionality is supported when searching local records only but does not work when searching CDI or using a blended scope. Since the goal of discovery is to provide a single point of access to local and remote collections, it follows that both indexes should support the same search functionality and operators.

  15. Visualization of Analytical Bibliographic Data in PrimoVE.: Correct Sorting of Parts

    A multi-part resource (eg: a sketchbook containing 200 drawings) is catalogued in MARC 773 (host/item relationship). PrimoVE ought to sort and display the component parts using $$g and $$q. Currently PrimoVE fails to do this in the correct numerical order. Rather, the presentation is alphabetical which is useless for component-items organized by their part or page number. There was a recent ideas exchange issue raised on this very topic, which was “solved” by providing the aforementioned “alphabetical solution”.     We’re glad to share that this idea has moved into the planned stage following discussions with customers and alignment on the direction.

    The solution enhances the display of related titles by improving the sorting logic. Instead of relying solely on alphabetical order, the system will incorporate volume and enumeration data to present results in a more logical sequence.

    The sorting will follow these rules:

    • For relationships via field 773, sort by $q (enumeration)
    • For 76X–78X fields, sort by $g (related parts)
    • For 8XX fields, sort by $v (volume/sequence)

    When available, volume or enumeration values will determine the order of titles, ensuring a meaningful sequence; otherwise, alphabetical sorting will be applied as a fallback. The idea is planned for the first half of 2027 .

  16. Allow CDI records and external resources to be added to Alma collections for Primo Collection Discovery

    We appreciate being able to create curated collections of Alma records to highlight lists of recommended reading and similar tools in Primo VE Collection Discovery. Sometimes we have a title that we’d love to include in these lists, but then find that a record exists only in CDI but not Alma. This is true for certain video collections, for example, that have database-type collections in Alma (no portfolios).   17. Improve indexing of in press articles in CDI

    The Central Discovery Index (CDI) includes many in press articles (i.e., articles that have been accepted for publication in a future issue). However, because these records do lack a pub date, volume, or issue number, the Alma link resolver cannot reliably determine whether an institution has access to these articles. We ask that Ex Libris improve they way in press articles are indexed in CDI so that the link resolver does not return false positives for content the library does not actually own.

    For full transparency, the commitment we made for this idea is to do the analysis for this feature in 2024. Based on that analysis, we will craft a solution that we can deliver in early 2025. We will keep you updated via this idea.

  18. Add very compact display option, 1 row per title

    Please add a really compact additional display option
    – 1 row per title
    – no icon

    to allow an overview / quick scanning of long result lists.

    When I do a search on my laptop, I see two titles on the result list and the start of a third.

    Default number of results for the compact display should be 100 or more.

    And it should be a setting in the patron account.

  19. Remove CDI constant expansion of results

    PCI results respect that a user knows what they want, but help with expansion when necessary, such as by stemming when there are very few results returned by the exact query. A user has autonomy also to target their results with techniques such as quotation marks, Boolean operators, and Advanced Search.

    In CDI, expansion is constant, by term inflection applied to all searches, as well as higher recall in general by design. This cannot be prevented by features such as Boolean operators, quotation marks or Advanced Search, and is illogical in conjunction with other features like 'Did you mean'.

  20. Better Primo VE Menu Link Options

    Custom menu links in Primo open in a new tabbed window. This is bad behavior. If I go back to the original screen and press the button again, it opens up another window in another tab, and so on.

    Desired Behavior:
    Menu link goes to address -- does not open a new window or tab. At the very least, it should have be an option for developers. Currently it is hard-coded in the html and not changeable. Using it leads to cluttered browsers.
