  1. Enable person entity functionality at the view level

The new feature (May 2024) for person entities is either on or off for all views.

For some special-purpose views it may be inappropriate to display person entity cards. At present the library would have to deploy a customisation package to allow it to show on some views, but hide it on others. It would be simpler to enable via check boxes in a view's general tab.

Libraries should be able to configure whether or not the results returned in the carousels on a person entity page are controlled by the view's search scopes. e.g. titles that are excluded from…

  2. Add Shibboleth/SSO functionality to CDI "Link in Record" links

Statista recently announced that they are ending IP authentication on Dec. 31, 2025. https://www.statista.com/site/IP-Access

All of the CDI records for Statista are "Link in Record" links that rely on a proxy prefix. There is currently no way to configure settings for Shibboleth (or any other SSO client like OpenAthens) to make these types of links work. Please add this functionality, so we are all prepared if more vendors start moving in this direction. As it stands, we will have to deactivate the Statista collection at the end of the year if no new functionality is released. Thanks!

  3. Limit Research Assistant results to resources patrons can access

It would be nice at a configuration level to be able to limit the Research Assistant results to those within an institution's collection and OA as the default setting, rather than the entire CDI as it is currently.
Users could then select to expand their search to the CDI, like they currently do when searching Primo.

  4. Show e-collections activated in the NZ in the Database Search of IZs

In our network we activate certain Open Access e-resources in the Network Zone. These e-collections are activated for every IZ without restriction. Some of our Institution Zones are using the Database Search to allow Patrons to search for their e-collections. Unfortunately, the Database Search is showing only e-collections that are activated and have inventory in the IZ. It does not show any of the Network Zone e-collections.

We would like to have the option to include the Network zone activated e-collections in the Database Search of the IZs.

  5. Create link for patron to report issue with Primo Central Record

This idea comes from a ticket submitted by a professor last week regarding a journal article resource that was marked as "peer reviewed" in PCI incorrectly. She reported it to us and we reported it to ExLibris, but it would seem more efficient to include a link that could report the problem directly to ExLibris for PCI content. I imagine something similar to the "report an issue" link found in google books: https://www.screencast.com/t/BdLZo2tR6D

  6. Change order of holdings for e-journals in ViewIt

Allow the institution to determine the ordering of resources in the ViewIt section of Primo. The single select options would include:
    • By Date – Ascending
    • By Date – Descending
    • Alphabetical
    • (Not sure if there are others)

Currently e-journal titles with multiple holdings are displayed in alphabetical order. When each holding has a different date range, it can be difficult to scan quickly. This would allow each institution to select what works best for their users.

  7. Primo Back Office: In a consortial environment, Ability to localize Alma collections to a specific instance of Primo

    Hello.

Our university system is in a consortial configuration of Alma and Primo Back Office.

Currently, we cannot use Alma collections because one university's (local and institution-specific) collections display in all other Primo instances in our consortia. This is problematic and confusing because a collection at University A displays in University B's Primo as if it were University B's collection. But the collection is local and specific to University A only.

The "collections" I'm talking about are described in the following Exlibris documentation: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/040Resource_Management/050Inventory/050Managing_Collections
    https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/060Back_Office_Guide/060Configuring_Primo%E2%80%99s_Front_End/050Collection_Discovery

We opened Salesforce cases 00636941 and 00708998 and were told by the Exlibris analysts that…

  8. Improve resource accessibility with a new field «Request accessible document» in “Digitization optional parameters”

To provide better access to resources for users with disabilities, ETH Library would like to offer its users accessible digital copies. This service requires an additional field in the digitization request form in Primo VE, in which users can indicate if they would like to request an accessible document. This field could be named “Request accessible document” and be added to Discovery > Configuration > GetIt > Digitization optional parameters, so that libraries can enable and disable the field as they like. We think that it would be best if there was a dropdown list available for this field with…

  9. List of Loans - Indicate if item is Requested

It should be possible to indicate in the patron's List of Loans in the Library Account whether an item is requested, otherwise, it is not clear if the due date is sooner than on other loans because it is a Reserved item or because it was Requested by another reader.

  10. View Primo as someone else / different types of users

View Primo as "someone else". It would be useful to view our Primo-page as different types of users. Being able to view Primo as an internal user, or a student, or staff member, or an external user, would help us troubleshoot configuration and settings in Alma. Have we activated the right functionality for the different user groups? Have we hidden what we want to hide?

tl;dr: Facebook's "View as" functionality in Primo.

  11. Sort purchase requests in Primo, by newest

It would be really helpful if user were able to sort their purchase requests in Primo by purchase-request creation date newest. Now Primo shows their purchase requests sorted by oldest, normally the user wants to see the follow up of the most recent.

  12. When an item has representations for use in Leganto that are suppressed in Primo VE, remove the View Online section

Currently we have print books with digital representations attached in Alma, for use in Leganto. We suppress these representations from Primo by using a note and display logic as this is the only option currently available. However this means that the book in Primo shows an "available online" status in the brief results, and when the full record is opened there is a View Online (GetIT tab) section that is just blank. Returning to the brief results then shows "Check available services". This is very confusing to users. We would like to have a different method of suppressing that means…

  13. Article level records from Alma should populate resource sharing form correctly

Article records from CDI will populate the Primo VE resource sharing form correctly, as a document delivery option for when there is no full-text available.
However, when it comes to article level records from Alma, the Journal title is incorrect (instead, the article title is entered into this field) and other information is missing, like publication year, volume, etc. Overall the article is not recognized in the Context Object as an article, but instead treated as a journal - thus omitting all fields not relevant to a journal record.
    Example:

    1 - Go to: https://kbdk-kgl-psb.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/permalink/45KBDK_KGL/1pioq0f/alma99124396529705764. See that the resource…

  14. List of Stop Words in Catalan

Alma/Primo clients in Catalan cannot use the Full Text Indexing utility in Primo VE with all its functionality because there is no Stop Word List implemented in Catalan.

Because of this and the 10,000 terms limit per indexed file, the included PDFs are not fully indexed.

    https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/Go_VE/Step_3%3A_Configuration/040Go_VE%3A_Converting_Primo_Data_Configuration_to_Primo_VE/060Go_VE%3A_Full_Text_Indexing_in_Primo_VE

  15. Provide Statistics about use of Primo Central Collections

It would be great if we can asses the usage of our licensed content via Primo. This will be valuable for our licensing decisions, as well it would be interesting for the hosts (Thomson Reuters, ProQuest...).

For instance, we like to know:

    • how often users view metadata (i.e. open details tab) of records from ProQuest's Collection for Dissertations & Theses

    • what is the ratio of view metadata to request fulltexts from the collection?

    • which providers (Thomson Reuters, ProQuest, ...) are used most (view + download), what are the top collections of each provider?

  16. Usage Statistics view on the Library Search/Primo for Alma D

We know we can run usage statistics via alma analytics. The usage report is for the internal library staff to decide on different collections. I want to propose to add the functionality to Alma D, where everyone will see the usage report on Primo in a different facet. This is an essential feature, especially for the end-users. If the function is added, the end-users will be able to see the statistical report about the document/resource, i.e., When was the document/resource last used?

  17. Report a problem - allow users to add an attachment

When patrons are reporting a problem in Primo user interface, usually adding a screenshot is very helpful for support.

Can "Add attachment" be added to the Report a problem form?

  18. Improve Citation Action

We would like to summarize in this idea exchange several issues we have run into with the citation action that inhibit the usefulness of the functionality for our customers greatly. Most of these relate to a lack of language sensitivity on the incoming side of the citation action. We would think it would be good if Ex Libris could work towards an improvement here, maybe together with the Citation Styles Language Project.

The formatting for the page count should be p.DDD-DDD or p. DDD-DDD in 773 $$g according to Ex Libris. The issue with this is that when our cataloguing…

  19. Add a pre-filter for Peer-reviewed Journals

Our students would like the option to pre-filter their searches to articles published in Peer-reviewed journals. The current Primo configuration only allows this filter as a refining facet after searching.

  20. Improve the search for non-preferred terms

The search of a non-preferred term works correctly with standard indexes.
Non-preferred terms are currently indexed in the creator, title and subject fields but they are not additionally indexed in a local search field.
For example the advanced search of a non-preferred term doesn't work when a local search field is chosen.

The search for non-preferred terms should be also enabled for local fields
