  1. Scan item barcode in Manage Patron Services

When using "Fulfillment -> Manage Patron Services" to view a user's account, the "Submit Request" button presumably could be used to put a hold request on an item for that user, but the only search index that this method allows is "All Titles". You can search for a title, and you can use the hamburger menu button to open up other options like MMS ID, ISBN, etc., but even this and the further embedded Advanced search only uses "All Titles". This means that you can't scan an item's barcode and put a request on that item using the "Physical Titles"…

  2. Open / Closed Stacks Request Possibilities Priority

Currently, when a library owns a title in several copies, and that some of these copies are dispatched between physical locations attached to both closed and open stacks fulfillment unit, all copies behave like open stacks.

In other terms: if we have two items, one in open-stacks and one in closed-stacks, title-level requesting is blocked as long as the open-stacks item is available. Hence, open stacks configuration takes precedence over the closed one.

We would like that whenever an available item is stored in a closed stacks location alongside other open stacks available items, users still can request the item…

  3. Request cancel: Can we make the reason drop down options configurable?

Some of the options for canceling a request do not apply to our institution, so I would like to put the most likely options at the top of the drop down menu.

  4. Is it possible to implement a timestamp when "Pick up from shelf" items have already been printed but not yet been processed?

If a timestamp could appear, including the date/time that slips were printed for "Pick up from shelf" items, it would be known slips have already been generated and items are in process of being fulfilled. Sometimes staff have to attend to other matters before actually processing these items, but already have print slips in hand.

This would be a lot more sustainable then the alternative: the same Pick slips being printed several times since it appears that these tasks haven't been tended to.

    Thanks for considering!

  5. Force article request form for ebooks

When patrons place a resource sharing request on eBooks, we would like the article request form to appear. Currently the request form type by genre cannot accomodate this for eBooks because both eBooks and print books share the genre type book. If Ex Libris could assign eBooks a different genre type, we could easily force the correct form. However, any way to accomplish the same thing would be great! Don't care how it happens.

  6. Allow booking requests only on the quarter hour and half hour

If your booking resolution policies are set to "Minute", users can select any minute in the hour as a start and end time. We would like a configuration option that allows us to limit booking request start and end times to just the quarter hour and half hour.

  7. Consider only the opening days and hours when calculating the transit time

The Transit Time Rule for Physical Item Requests calculates the transit time in calendar days.
As a result, days and times when the library is closed are also indicated as estimated delivery times for the requested media.
These times are also displayed in Primo and thus give users incorrect information.
Would it be possible to consider only the opening days and hours of the libraries when calculating the transit time?

  8. Make requests for multi-volume works fulfillable at location scanned in

    Hi there,

If patrons submit a request for a multi-volume work at the holdings level, only the circulation desk for the Library where the volume is held can see the 'existing holdings requests may be fulfillable by scanned in item' message when the requested volume is scanned in.
We would like all circulation desks to be able to see this message and had the option to attach the item to the request at the holdings record.
Our use case is that we have many items held at offsite storage, which is set up as a Library in Alma but is…

  9. Default digitisation department for digital request types

Ability to set a default digitization department for each digitization request type.

Currently in Leganto, you can set a default digitization department for readings digitization requests. What we would like to do is to set a default digitization department for the patron digitization requests, and staff digitization request types within fulfillment.

This is because when the patron request type is created within Primo, no managing department is set - unlike those same request types when lodged within Alma, where the managing department can be set.
When the request is lodged via Primo, it seems to pick the managing department based…

  10. Add Location facet to Active Hold Shelf and Expired Hold Shelf screens

We would like to filter the items listed on the Active Hold Shelf and Expired Hold Shelf screens to show either patron physical item requests or inter-library loans, but that isn't possible at the moment. We use Location to tell the difference between our items and those borrowed from other institutions.

On the Active Hold Shelf screen, there are no facets at all currently. We would like a Location facet to be added please so that staff who are auditing our requests shelves or inter-library loans shelves would be able to view only the relevant items.

    On the Expired Hold…

  11. View pick-up location in Requests tab of Manage Patron Services

It would be helpful if pick-up location was displayed on the Requests tab under Manage Patron Services. Currently, in order to view pick-up location when helping users at the desk, staff need to click '...' and 'Edit' in order to view that part of the request.

Attached is a photo of the current interface where staff would like to see pick-up location as an optional column display.

  12. Enable requests of multiple items of the same BIB-record

In Alma, it is generally not possible to request multiple copies of the same record. This possibility only exists if items are differentiated by the item description.

When it comes to special collections, patrons regularly want to compare multiple copies, which may differ. Such differences have generally not been recorded (hence no item description), which is exactly why people want to compare them. For collections in closed stacks, requesting from the catalog is the only way to obtain an item. However, we can currently not offer the option of requesting more than one copy to our patrons. Neither can library…

  13. Option to add "Held Until:" column on the "Scan in Items" page.

It would be helpful to add a "Held Until:" column on the "Scan In Items" page. This would assist our teams when they are processing requests.

  15. Include the workflow step status of a "pick from shelf" request in the API

If a "pick from shelf" request is created in Alma, it initially has the workflow step status "new". After printing the Resource Request Slip Letter, the workflow step status switches to "in process", showing that the request is now being fulfilled (meaning an employee is now picking the item from the shelf).

If this difference was included in the API call, it could be used by a discovery system to enable patrons to cancel a request only if the Resource Request Slip Letter has not yet been printed. Thus, patrons could cancel "new" requests, but not those that are "in…

  16. Not "Notify user" when canceling a "Patron physical item request"

In most situations we don’t want a request cancellation to be sent to users when we cancel a patron physical item request (Ful Cancel Request Letter). But since the checkbox “Notify user” is checked by default, the letter often gets sent by mistake, resulting in users thinking they will not receive the requested material, when in fact they will. We want the checkbox to be unchecked by default. Maybe this could be a configurable option in Alma (whether the checkbox is checked or not) so that each library can decide this for themselves?

  17. No requesting when available items in institution

We would very much like there to be an option in Alma fulfillment units (On Shelf Request Policy): "No requesting when available items in institution".

The meaning of which would be that if there is at least one (requestable) item available at any holding, the user will not be able to make a title request. The system will consider all items in the institution, not just one holding at a time.

Currently we use the "No Requesting from available holding" option which means that when all (requestable) items on one holding are checked out, then the user can make a…

  18. Add Print slips option on Active Hold Shelf Screen

It appears ALMA does not have the ability to generate an email (print job) to print hold slips for items that are returned with pending holds.

A great option whether the ability to have those slips print automatically upon return is developed or not, is to force print applicable hold slips from the active hold shelf screen.

In theory, if an item is returned with a pending hold, when the item is scanned as returned the hold is activated and as a result should appear on the "active hold shelf" list . If a slip does not print, the staff…

  20. Request Status Reason Displayed to Staff on Expired Shelf List

It would be useful to have the reason why a Request is now in the Expired Shelf List.
Recently a user cancelled a request the day after it went onto the Hold Shelf.
Staff were under the impression that there must have been a problem with Alma as the Held Until Date was just one day after the Held Since Date. It took a bit of digging to find out that the user had actually cancelled the request (we had to go to the user account and have a look at the attachments to find out what had happened).
