  1. Ability to edit records during import when manual handling required

    During the import of records, we sometimes get the "Manual Handling Required" notice, from which we can view the record in question as well as its error.

    On that screen you can view the record and we have often found that only a small fix is needed to correct the error, and would be best done at this point in the process rather than getting the original file, making a change, and either reloading the whole thing or extracting the one file to fix and reload it alone.

  2. Import Profiles - Match Profile add 028 - Publisher or Distributor Number to one of the match methods

    When loading records via import profiles it would be great to be able to match on the 028 - Publisher or Distributor Number. Could this be added to one of the match methods currently available or added as a new match method>

  3. Task list customization

    Currently, the task list is automatically configured based on user roles. However, there are many features assigned to a role in Alma that a user may not actually deal with. For example, as electronic resources manager, I do not need to see print order lines to claim for print titles. This is particularly an issue because other departments do not always use the task list in their workflow, so mine can become cluttered with their content. We would like additional customization to be available within the task list, so that we only see relevant tasks.

  4. Add additional text in Metadata Editor - Holdings Form

    When editing a holdings-record in Metadata Editor when using the holdings form, we would like to see additional text added to the field information to inform the cataloger about which MARC-field they're editing.

    For example, when editing the field "Location" there is no information about which MARC-field this belongs to in the record. There should be an additional text next to the field name saying either (MARC-field X/Subfield X) or (XXX $X).

  5. Results from "Browse Shelf Listing" and "Browse Bibliographic Headings" searches should be exportable

    When you do a search using "Browse Shelf Listing" and "Browse Bibliographic Headings", the results show up in an editor that does not give you the option to export the search results. The results from these searches are hard (or impossible) to replicate using a search or analytics.

  6. Export suppression status

    When exporting a list of titles to Excel, it would be helpful if a title's suppressed status was exported along with the rest of the title's information. Currently, there is a visual indicator in Alma if a title is suppressed or not, but that doesn't seem to translate over when exported. Since we often work with large lists of titles and there's no way to sort itemized sets, we need to be able sort through them effectively in Excel.

  8. Expandable "Text Box" in Resource Management (cataloging side)

    Allow to adjust or expand the "Text Box" in fields in item record.

    For instance, in Internal Note Fields, Often time staff needs to add further more information into these fields. Though staff can keep adding content in the fields, but the Text Box stays the same. A lot of time, staff needs to move cursor around, in order to see all dataentry for that particular field.

    If the developer can make 'Text Box' expandable at our need, that will save a lot of trouble.

  9. option to delete bib when relinking physical inventory

    When relinking electronic inventory, a pop up occurs asking what to do with the bib (nothing, delete if no other holdings, or suppress).

    It would be a time saver to have the same pop up when relinking physical inventory

    We need a possibility to define local search indexes on the level of MARC indicator and MARC subfield.

  11. Automatically tick the checkboxes in the "run a job" screen when entering text in the accompanying field, or...

    When running a job and adding a fulfilment note to items in a set I have occasionally added text in the relevant field but forgotten to tick the checkbox next to it so that that running the job has had no effect.

    It would be really useful if one of the two follow scenarios could be implemented to avoid this happening:

    EITHER have the system automatically tick the checkbox when text is entered into the accompanying field. After all, if a user has entered text deliberately then it is because s/he wants that field to be populated and hence wants…

  12. The 245 field should display in repository search results, even if there is no 245$a

    Title displays as “unknown” in repository search when field 245 lacks $a.
    While field 245 is mandatory in a record, subfield |a of this field is not. In some types of cataloging, particularly for manuscripts, other subfields are used and $a is not present. For example, $k for Form and $f for Dates can be used without subfield $a: 245 __ $k Papers, $f 1929-1980.
    245$k and 245$f are particularly important to those using DACS (Describing Archives: A Content Standard) for cataloging archival materials.
    In repository search, Alma displays “Unknown” in place of the title when 245 |a is lacking.…

  13. Add Filtering Group to Local 9xx fields so they can be searched by keyword in Alma Repository

    It's great that institutions can add their own local 9xx fields but staff have to remember to search by the specific field tag. We would like the ability to assign our 9xx tags to general search indexes.

  14. Sorting sets by creation date

    In Manage sets (Admin>Manage sets) we should be able to sort the list of sets by Creation Date. When you have a lot of sets in your list and you create a set, then have to run a job and choose the set - it's easy to lost your set

  15. Control open session time?

    Good Morning,

    Is there a configuration of Alma that keeps the session open and that you do not have to log in again?

    If this possibility does not exist, can you implement it or is it in process?

  16. Allow full customisation of the keyword index

    Since every institution has a different idea of what constitutes a "key" word, we would greatly appreciate the ability to customise the keyword index for ourselves. A table to allow us to add and remove MARC fields and subfields would be in keeping with much of Alma's back office design.

  17. Add 583 to the search index or the general Notes search index

    The bib 583 note is not index and therefore is not searchable in Alma unless we copy the field to a 9XX field. Please either add it to the general Notes search index or create is own Action note index.

  18. Ability to set records to "do not publish" to OCLC

    It would be very helpful if the default value "publish to OCLC" was switched to "do not publish". We have brief records created by Acq. staff and Fulfillment staff and they sometimes forgot to check "do not publish" and these minimal level brief records end up being published to OCLC.

  19. Ability to add html code/img files to the GES Public Name Field

    I would like the ability to add html code/img files to the GES Public Name Field. Either that or a separate field for adding an icon. I think this would help us "brand" the services we offer through these links.

  20. create brief record

    In Resource Management, there are options for creating a physical item using a template that list the MARC fields as their type, not like the field numbers in Metadata Editor. Such as, Title is listed with a field to enter this information, and Author and so on for the Resource Information. As a cataloger, I know the MARC field numbers and can easily catalog in Metadata Editor, but this is not the case for the acquisition coworkers I collaborate with to order new materials.
