Prevent change of due-date when the item is under the recalled status.
Or have an alert message of some kind when the due date is being changed.
Because when the due date is changed, the recalled item reverts back to its initial status making it difficult to determine if there are requests placed on the item.
We're exploring a solution that would allow configuration of a warning when the "Change Due Date" action is applied to recalled loans. The warning would be overridable, giving users the flexibility to proceed if needed.
In cases where "Change Due Date" is performed on multiple items, and this warning is enabled, a pop-up would notify the user that some of the loans are recalled and offer options for how to proceed.
This isn’t planned for immediate development, but it’s definitely on our radar

Great to see this accepted. Hoping for a quick implementation.

That sounds like a great solution. I never knew the recall status had this loophole, so to speak; I have no idea how many requests may have fallen through the cracks.

Moshe, that sounds perfect for our needs.

So, I guess we want it to be possible to configure a warning that pops up when the Change Due Date is used on a recalled loan and that the warning should be overridable. When doing Change Due Date on multiple items, if this block is configured then the pop up will notify that some of the loans are recalled and allow to choose action.

Yes - one of our member libraries complained that they could Change the Due Date even though a recall had been placed on the item. I did explain that if you attempted to Renew the item that it would check for recalls, but the Changing the Due Date appears to override whatever system checks are in place.

Can you share more information about when this happens ? The 'Change Due Date' tool does not revert the loan status, and the Renew action is indeed blocked. Can you explain in what scenario recalled item reverts back to its initial status ?

Does this happen when using "change date" instead of "renew"? Because I thought being in recall status did prevent an item from being renewed.
