More possibilities for the Alma Color Theme
In the new UI, libraries can manage branding in Alma by selecting one of 6 basic colors (blue, purple, red, green, brown, orange). This configuration can only be made by a General administrator and is valid for all Alma users. We would like:
- a larger variety of colors (proposing the 216 web-safe colors would be fine);
- the possibility for any user to define their own Color Theme: color experience may be very different from one individual to another and giving everyone the possibility the use a convenient color would be appreciated.

Now, in Alma, the Color Scheme can be configured on the user level, not just the institutional level.

Hello,
I appreciate the added bar/header/ (?) colors. Unfortunately, it seems that the colors appear to only make changes to part of Alma instead of all of it.
Being able to add a little bit of color is cool, but it's unfortunately not solving the issue with folks being blinded by all of the white. Can we please make all areas available to these changes? White is still the main color for everything.
I'm still using the Toggle Invert! extension for Chrome, but having more than one of these extensions really slows my browser down. I still need several extensions for all of my work, so one less would greatly improve my every day work life.
Thank you for the work you've already done. It is appreciated even if it's not exactly it for me. I appreciate you all!

Dear Community,
I'm happy to share with you that the requirement of this idea is planned for 2024 H2.
The Branding management configuration page will allow institutions to enable the option to its users to select a different color theme for their user-profile's environment from the 17 colors options currently available.

Hello,
Yes, could we please have the ability to change our colors to whatever is needed per user? Inverting the colors? Anything, really.
I have light-sensitive eyes and all of the white does my head in. I regularly have headaches due to all of the brightness.
I've since turned all my light settings as low as I can and added the Toggle Invert! extension to my browser. This has helped a lot, but I'd rather have Alma make these changes available to all their users.
Extensions slow down my browser, and I'm not sure how trustworthy they all are nowadays.
Please take this under consideration?Thank you,

Hi, I'd like to echo François's comment in response to this idea being marked as "Completed". It is not possible to set colour themes for individual Alma users and we would very much like this to be possible. In particular, the colours in the new Metadata Editor interface are causing issues for colleagues and we would like to be able to customise them to suit.
Please advise if a new Idea must be submitted to re-open this issue. Thanks

Thanks for the update!
If I'm not mistaken, the new colors with the January 2020 release are still at the institutional level. So, there is no possibility (or not yet?) for staff user to define their own Color Theme, which is important in terms of Accessibility since color experience may be very different from one individual to another.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Kind regards,Fr.

Can Ex Libris provide details on what is being planned exactly? Is it a larger list of colors or something broader like the ability to upload custom CSS?

I'm not sure if this is what you're thinking, but Admins can change Alma colouring from the out of the box blue to one of several different options.
It does change it for the whole institution though, and some staff might object to some of the stronger colours such as red, as it's quite bold.

An additional thought in this direction: the ability to choose different colors depending on your library location selection. We have an army of student workers who move between circulation desks at our different campus libraries. If they don't remember to toggle their location each time they move, then we end up sending lots of materials in transit. Review and clean-up of these transit items has become a daily task for us. A visual reminder like a green vs. blue screen would be a huge help.

The Chrome extension 'AlmaTechPlus' was updated to enable color per environment.
I use purple for production and gray for SandBox.Thanks a lot François for the valid comment. Any other comments or suggestions will be welcome.

Thanks a lot for sharing, Guy!! I'm sure it can be already useful to many of us. It is indeed easy to use for Chrome users. I hope it will be a source of inspiration for the Alma management team and developers.
I have noticed the plugin is active for both Production and Sandbox environments and that the selected preferred color scheme is automatically applied to both. Personally, I like keeping separate colors for prod and Sandbox.
Have a nice day! -

In the Technion, we developed a Chrome extension to address this issue.
With the UI color change feature you can choose the color you like. Try it! You can always reset it back to your institution color.https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/almatechplus/ppeconhjdipenanjfhoffclaonhdakpd

I agree with all previous comments. **** should be accessible for all users.
We would specifically like to see the options for an individual to choose their own colours, and for this to also include the option to alter the font colour.
In particular some users have difficulty seeing the blue text against grey background (e.g. when selecting Institution/Community tab after a search). This colour doesn't change when the overall colour is altered. -

It's important for Alma to be accessible to all staff and having a range of colours to choose from is a move in the direction.

I would appreciate being able to select font and colour as an individual preference.
Perhaps there could also be a bit more outline definition when in the various boxes for information or data input - its all a bit samey - this necessitates reading everything to be sure

A larger range of colours would be very helpful. Some of the text is very difficult to see at present.
