Only send Ful Item Change Due Date Letter for changes to due date
We've run into a real problem with recalls. We can set some items to be recallable, and others to not be recallable. However, both categories get their status changed to "Recalled." Non-recallable items simply don't get a change to their due date. Despite this, patrons who have checked out non-recallable items still get the Change Due Date letter, with a notice that tells them their due date has not actually changed. This letter currently is triggered by recalls with due date changes, recalls without due date changes, other due date changes, or recall cancellations. We think this is too much to cover with one letter, as we don't want to send the notice when there's no date change, though we do want to send it when there is a date change.
So I'd like to propose that this letter be broken out into two separate letters: one for due date changes, and one for loan status updates without due date changes. That would allow us to deactivate or activate as desired.

We are new to Alma and this would be very useful for us. Our desired behavior would be the patron only gets a letter if and when a due date actually changes - recall or not.

We have had to change the header and content of this letter as we also do not change the due date when an item is recalled, so the subject 'change due date' was misleading in the case of recalls. It definitely needs to be split into two different notifications- one where the due date changes and another where it does not. But in the meantime we have called it, 'Library item due', in order to address both scenarios.

I remember being confused by this in the Alma certification training. It's like the item was recalled even though it wasn't.

I agree. Patron generated recalls/holds require more advanced and varied notification letters than are currently available.
