  1. Add new call number fields to Fulfillment area to assist with reporting

    In the Fulfillment subject area there are no fields allowing the breakdown of the call number in the holdings record.

    Please add fields that allow LC call numbers in the holdings record to be broken down into LC Code and LC number and also a normalised field which can be exported for sorting in Excel.

  2. Improvements to Pick From Shelf list needed

    Currently our staff spend too much time managing requests. Improvements to the interface for Pick From Shelf would help in some of these cases. We would like to see:

    1. A search box.

    Very often we need to target a particular request, a task made more difficult by less than ideal facets (see #2). Search functionality exists under Monitor Requests & Item Processes, but not all options for handling requests are available in that view (such as "Skip Location").

    Two of the facets available in the Monitor Requests & Item Processes view would be great for Pick from Shelf:…

  3. A different colour scheme for Alma Sandbox

    Currently, Alma (Sandbox) and Alma (Production) looks almost the same except for the tiny “Sandbox” wording under the Alma logo on the top left corner of the screen.
    It can be very misleading and it will be disastrous (and irreversible in some cases!) if I update the wrong records in Production.

    You may want to consider to use a different colour scheme for the Sandbox login. Eg a “Alma Sandbox” logo with a red background.

  4. API for terms of use

    An API to retrieve the terms of use would allow us to display borrowing rules on our website which are completely synced to our Alma configuration.

  5. Should be able to fill in all fields in item records by typing.

    Currently, location fields in item records can only be filled in by choosing from a menu. It would be helpful if it were also possible to simply type in the location when it is known. That way the change from one temporary location to another could be done by a macro, which would save a LOT of time when processing a cart of books with the same location change.

  6. Make Interface Admin and Usage Stats Information Usable from Alma

    It would be great if we could export username and password fields from the Administrative Information tab and Statistics Information tab located under the Vendor Interface Details page for each interface we have in Alma. As it is now, it is not possible to export this information using Analytics. We are currently required to either provide more access than is necessary for users who are tasked with collecting usage, or maintain a separate spreadsheet/database with URLs, usernames and passwords, which is an ongoing duplication of effort as these change frequently.

  7. change run time of "Notifications - Send Due Date Reminders" job to 8am instead of 10am

    The job "Notification – Send Due Date Reminders" seems to be sending a notice on the day that the item is due. It’s scheduled to run at 10:00am every day so picks up short term loans made that day. We would like the ability to change it to run at 8am or earlier before the Library opens as we do not want people with short hourly type loans getting a reminder

  8. a specific type of "User notes" shown under "notes" tab

    Currently, all user notes (which can be added manually) are hidden behind the "notes" tab (which can't be manually added), as shown in the attachment. It would be great if a specific type of "user notes"(for example, circulation notes) could be listed under "notes" tab, so that those notes will be more obvious to desk staff.

  9. Handling books on the shelf that didn't get checked in

    When a book on the shelf was accidentally not checked in and another user brings it to the desk, it clears the original checkout and adds a fine without generating a message to let us know. In most cases, we would waive those fines, since the book had obviously been returned. We would love to see a pop-up when that happens so we can go and waive the fine on the previous customer's record

  10. Use user data in general electronic services

    Currently in a general electronic service we can pass bibliographic metadata via openurl format through to the target webpage. It would be useful to also pass through user data. The "Adding a General Electronic Service" section in the Online Help mentions a requester (req.) category of attributes but these don't seem to be used at the moment.

    Passing through the requester's name, email address, etc would allow us to auto-populate an external form (eg interloans, purchase suggestion forms, etc) and save the user time / potential typing errors.

  11. Add seach box to Active Hold Shelf

    We often have 1500+ items on our Active Hold Shelf. While we have the ability to sort, this does not help much when we are looking for a particular item. A search box would allow us to locate an item easily without clicking through page after page.

  12. In the List of Items screen, add "description" to the list of search options in the "Find" box.

    Currently in a list of items, Alma allows us to search within the list of items by only barcode or the call number. Adding the ability to search the description field would simplify trying to locate an item with unique information in the description, such as "index".

  13. Ability to see more of the 2 records on the match/merge screen.

    Currently, when manually handling the matches one at a time, the view of the 2 records is only using the upper half of the screen. The ability to scroll each side is great but why not be able to see more of the records by increasing the viewing area? Thank you for considering.

  14. The 245 field should display in repository search results, even if there is no 245$a

    Title displays as “unknown” in repository search when field 245 lacks $a.
    While field 245 is mandatory in a record, subfield |a of this field is not. In some types of cataloging, particularly for manuscripts, other subfields are used and $a is not present. For example, $k for Form and $f for Dates can be used without subfield $a: 245 __ $k Papers, $f 1929-1980.
    245$k and 245$f are particularly important to those using DACS (Describing Archives: A Content Standard) for cataloging archival materials.
    In repository search, Alma displays “Unknown” in place of the title when 245 |a is lacking.…

  15. Make Holdings information available in the Job Report

    The Job Report page which can be navigated to via, for example, Monitor & View Imports is useful, but would be better still if data pertaining to imported-in holdings were also added.

    The Physical Items pull-down lists total physical items imported, added and updated; and as the successful maintenance and troubleshooting of issues regarding holdings is arguably as important (to us, at least) as that for bibliographic records and items, it would be appreciated to see similar numerical indications of how successful attempted holdings updates have proven.

  16. Alma Templates: allow user-by-user customization of default holdings templates

    The shared MARC21 holdings templates in Alma offer customization of the template properties, allowing the selection of one template as the default. This customization applies to the entire institution, and not the individual Alma user. Therefore, when we have multiple catalogers working with multiple templates, they all have to conform to one default template. It would be useful to allow each cataloger to set the default template for their workflow.

  17. Add description field to trial module

    The manage trials module in Alma needs to have a description field available. This would be very useful as it would educate trial participants as to what new product they are evaluating. Right now the only information provided is Title. This new field would also need to be available in the XML for TrialLetter.

  18. Retain Data in Interface Records

    We really like the multiple tabs on interface records that allow us to record different admin logins and statistical information.
    Publisher and vendor changes happen pretty frequently in our environment and we foresee needing to move interfaces from one vendor to another on occasion.
    We just found out the hard way that when an interface is deleted from a vendor record and then added to another vendor record all the information that was in the various interface tabs gets wiped out. Can something be done to preserve the information that was hand keyed into the interface tabs?”

  19. Return and reissue items with a single click that have reached their max loan period

    When items reach their maximum loan period and patrons want to borrow the items again they have to be returned and issued again by a circulation operator. This is an unnecessarily complex workflow. Please could an option be added for circulation desk operators to be able to return and reissue the items with a single click of an interface button (providing their are no blocks of course).

  20. Allow Z39.50 and other search results to include the barcode

    Alma's APIs need to provide greater flexibility in fields searched. Too often the MMSID must be used but this is not a particularly useful ID as it is internal. It's also not particularly helpful as it does not integrate with other systems like Remote Storage management systems, Bindery, NCIP, and the like. Yet Primo displays the barcode so clearly it's not difficult to pull out of a record.
