LoC and DC Headings
We would like to have the availablity to select Library of Congress or Dublin Core Subject Headings instead of the ExLibris base set of subjects. We found that ExLibris's base set is poorly inadequate and it became a huge annoyance and time consuming to copy and paste the Library of Congress headings for our catalogers.

Ability to flag external and internally managed grants
When a researcher is involved with a grant that is not managed by the organisation it would be nice to be able able to display this on the profile grants tab. So Internally managed grants would display as internally managed and ones where the researcher is a collaborator on a grant that is owned by another institution would show as externally managed.

Search improvement
The search routine in esploro should have the same functions like it is available for Primo --> auto autocomplete or "did you mean?"
Would be a great improvement.

Pop-Up Cultural Advisory Notices
We are an Australian-based Esploro customer and we have asset records containing culturally sensitive information/materials. Repository staff are currently adding the notice below to these records (which at this point, are primarily theses):
"Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples should be aware that this thesis and associated project files, may contain the images/voices/names of people who have since passed away. "
Repository staff customise this message to include what is relevant for the asset record concerned, e.g. images and/or voices and/or names and to the type of publication.
These advice statements would be more effectively highlighted as a pop-up that…

Auto Assignment for Asset Types
We have regularities in terms of which colleague checks which type of assets. It would be nice if I could automatically add the assginment to the asset type for these people. otherwise, as admin, I always have to check first and then end up assigning the same colleagues again anyway.

Map programs & research units to ETD types
Now that undergraduate students can self-deposit in Esploro, it is essential that the process be as straightforward as possible. Currently the programs and research units that they must select from are all possibilities. We would like a way to identify the relevant programs and research units so they are given a subset of relevant options. Without having an appropriate subset it will be much more challenging for everyone, and we are sure we will get a lot of incorrect information in the form.

Resources in Esploro duplicated in Primo VE
Resources inserted in Esploro are duplicated in Primo VE when a bibliographic record for the same work exists in Alma or in other collections.
We are proposing that the deduplication process, used in Primo VE for other record sources, wolud be used also for Esploro resources64 votesDear Colleagues,
We are looking into this issue, we might have a way to flag the publications better for Primo VE to dedup.
We will let you know of updates.

"Update DOI Registration Agency - Research Assets" Job Improvements
The "Update DOI Registration Agency - Research Assets" job that runs daily does not provide detailed reporting. A detailed report of successfully updated, failed, and migrated assets would aid in troubleshooting and administration of the job.

Do you have researchers with the same name? We need a way to distinguish between them
We have several researchers with the same name in our institution.
When in an asset, we want to connect the asset to the correct researcher.
Currently, there is no way to distinguish between them (especially if they are previously affiliated). We suggest including the previous internal affiliation if it is a previously affiliated researcher.
An example is in the attached file.

Citation only display on profile brief results
Currently, the citation display on the Researcher Profiles includes the first several lines of the abstract. We would like to list via citation only and exclude the abstract from the brief results. This can be done in the portal but is not available from the profiles assets display. We feel that this would look tidier and reduce the need to scroll down the page as much.

"Show all" Button in asset lists
It would be helpful to include a "show all" button in the asset list of the researcher profiles, in order to show all projects/assets on one page.

Add job to bulk import asset metadata and files
Currently there is actually no mechanism by which a batch of metadata and files for multiple assets can be imported into Esploro. Strongly recommend adding this functionality ASAP.
34 votesThis Idea is very broad, and since it was opened new functionality has been added, in particular the Update by CSV. CSV update covers all metadata fields in the Asset but does not include Authors, either creators or contributors, or Files.
It would be helpful to get an updated list of priorities.

Add DOI/No DOI as a Facet to Smart Harvest author matching
Articles with DOIs are easier to verify because you can click the DOI and review the published version of record.
We would like a "has DOI" and "NO DOI" facet because this would speed up Smart Harvest author matching, and potentially allow lower-level staff to review.
Staff could review "has DOI" matching and check the published version to verify affiliation. Records requiring more review or investigation could be left for higher-level staff.

Draft mediated deposits display in profile
Currently, drafts of mediated deposits do not display in researcher profiles. Complicated mediated deposits like datasets often go through several drafts before they are ultimately approved and published. In these cases, it would be very useful for the draft deposit to display in the profiles of all affiliated researchers for their review and feedback.

Display Esploro Asset Creation Date in Portal
I received the business/use case below from Carla Cher, the Manager, Intellectual Property and Commercialisation here at RMIT University for displaying the record creation date in a publicly available asset record on the portal.
Carla wrote, "this is extremely important information because our team needs to know the date something is published as this may have an effect on whether we can apply for a patent or not for particular areas of technology. In addition, patent offices will search the database for the thesis when examining a patent application and may reject an application because they consider the date it…

Ability for researchers to show/hide details in the Communication section of their profile
Our researcher contact details are imported daily and we are finding some researchers add other email, phone and address details via their profile and would rather the alternate contact details be displayed.
We would like a button next to each entry in the Communication section so researchers can decide which to make visible, similar to the toggle visible/hidden icon available in the Affiliations section.

Selecting a license in self-deposit
Selecting a license is not intuitive on the self-deposit form. You have to click the three dots next to the file after it’s been uploaded, then select the license. This is too bothersome for the researcher, so she's not selecting a license. We can leave this blank for most items, but it's very important for anything we're registering with CrossRef or DataCite, so it requires follow-up with the researcher. It would be better if the form prompted the researcher to select a license (or not).

Add job to batch edit and/or suppress file labels in File Viewer
Currently, the file label displays in the File Viewer above the file itself and appears as prominently as the title of the asset (same font and size). For the thousands of assets we migrated to Esploro, this file label is by default the file name, which references the ID number of the file in our previous repository and nothing else (e.g., no author, title, year). This is not at all helpful to our patrons and is frankly quite ugly. So I would recommend that you add a job to edit and/or suppress the file labels in batch. Right now we…

Improve version control of research assets
Research outputs typically go through several different iterations or versions over the course of their lifecycle. NISO, for example, defines up to seven versions of scholarly journal articles http://www.niso.org/publications/niso-rp-8-2008-jav. In order to avoid confusion, support proper citation, and ensure compliance with publisher open access policies, it is critically important that institutional repositories clearly distinguish between different versions of the same work by prominently displaying this information in both the asset record and PDF cover sheet.
Esploro currently offers two options for communicating version: asset type and file type.
Asset type refers to the type of resource being deposited. When…
