Link Media Mention to Asset
Media Mentions are usually related to a specific asset, not just a specific researchers. It would make the system more useful if a relationship with a specific asset were possible

Ability to update affiliation of researchers attached to a grant
When adding a researcher to a grant you are not able to update their affiliation.
Assuming Esploro will be developed to show collaboration in grants, it will be necessary to have the correct affiliation showing for the researchers attached to a grant, similar to the affiliation for researchers attached to an asset.1 vote -
Allow files to be organized in folders
When uploading files, there is no option to put them in folders or maintain the original folder structure. We have a user who has sorted his data by year and the only way to maintain that structure was to create separate assets for each year. They are closely related datasets.

Viewer for files in Activies and Projects
When files are added to Activities or Projects in Esploro there is no option to view the file in the portal. We suggest to add a File Viewer to display the files in Activities and Projects. This functionality already exist for Output and would be very helpful for Activities and Projects as well. Otherwise it will serve more as a repository for the files.

Controlled vocabularies and metadata field limits
To aid in the discovery of both researchers and assets, it would be great if the following functionality were available:
- Ability to limit keywords/research topics at the researcher level
- Ability to limit the length of the describe your research section of the profile
- Availability of more controlled vocabularies - preferably not LCSH, but a blend of subject-specific vocabularies (MeSH, Inspec, MLA, etc. -- maybe even the controlled vocabularies from the old CSA indexes given how good they are for the social sciences)
- Ability to limit keywords to just items from controlled vocabularies

Add option to easily export internal organization structure to spreadsheet
We would like to be able to export a file which includes:
Top level unit | 2nd level unit | 3rd level unit | etc for all levels
For example:
Weizmann Institute | Chemistry Faculty | Organic Chemistry Department
Weizmann Institute | Chemistry Faculty | Materials and Interfaces Department
Weizmann Institute | Biochemistry Faculty | Molecular Cell Biology Department
We managed to create such a report using the ‘Esploro Research Assets’ subject area – but this report includes only departments and faculties for which we have assets. If there are departments for which we do not have assets, they will…9 votesHi,
I am reviewing Ideas Exchange and have some questions about this idea
This would be an export of the org structure only? Is this in reference to analytics?
What purpose would this report serve?
Thanks

Create a new Researcher Profile API that returns the Researcher Profile as a complete entity
Please create a new Researcher Profile API that returns the Researcher Profile as a complete entity. That is, it returns the contents of the Overview (including the profile URL), the Output, the Projects, and the Grants(?) tabs.
1) It would be great to have all of this information returned in one API; and
2) You currently have to filter the Assets API by "Shown in profile: Yes" in order to mimic the display in the Researcher Profile; and
3) Projects (and future Grants?) information is not currently available via API.Thanks,

Expose all User record fields on the Researcher subject area
Currently, the User fields that are part of Researcher subject area are incomplete. I need to be able to include the campus that the researcher is associated with in my report.
I cannot get the information out of the Researcher Subject area as it is not exposed.
There appears to be no API or analytic subject area that all the researcher contact information, identifiers, urls (image and profile), keywords, affiliations, assets etc is available from.
I would like to see all the user fields included on the researcher subject area.
The use case is to be able to use the…

New asset page - navigation between search results
The new portal no longer has Up and Down arrows to navigate to the next record in search results.
We find navigation between search results very useful and would like the left panel with Up and Down arrows added to the new portal.14 votesAdminTami Ezra (Admin, Ex Libris) responded

Display embargo release date in Esploro research portal
We would like the ability to display the "Release Date", i.e. the date that the embargo on an asset was lifted, in the public research portal. We would like for the embargo release date to display in the asset details for both assets that are currently embargoed and assets who's embargo has lifted.
We think it would be helpful to have an indication in the public asset metadata that the asset was embargoed at some point. This would be helpful for researchers, and also (especially for ETDs) for the asset's author to understand when the asset became available.

LoC and DC Headings
We would like to have the availablity to select Library of Congress or Dublin Core Subject Headings instead of the ExLibris base set of subjects. We found that ExLibris's base set is poorly inadequate and it became a huge annoyance and time consuming to copy and paste the Library of Congress headings for our catalogers.

Configure date types used for searching and filtering in research portal
Currently, the Date facet in the research portal includes all types of dates associated with an asset (e.g. created, published, submitted, availability). Some of these dates may be used more for administrative purposes (i.e. we use Submitted for when items like ETDs were added to the repository, which may not be related to when the asset was created), and therefore should not be used for filtering search results for users.
Additionally, because not all of the date types display in the asset details, the search results when using the date facet can be confusing for users. If a user filtered…

Ability to flag external and internally managed grants
When a researcher is involved with a grant that is not managed by the organisation it would be nice to be able able to display this on the profile grants tab. So Internally managed grants would display as internally managed and ones where the researcher is a collaborator on a grant that is owned by another institution would show as externally managed.

Search improvement
The search routine in esploro should have the same functions like it is available for Primo --> auto autocomplete or "did you mean?"
Would be a great improvement.

Pop-Up Cultural Advisory Notices
We are an Australian-based Esploro customer and we have asset records containing culturally sensitive information/materials. Repository staff are currently adding the notice below to these records (which at this point, are primarily theses):
"Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples should be aware that this thesis and associated project files, may contain the images/voices/names of people who have since passed away. "
Repository staff customise this message to include what is relevant for the asset record concerned, e.g. images and/or voices and/or names and to the type of publication.
These advice statements would be more effectively highlighted as a pop-up that…

Auto Assignment for Asset Types
We have regularities in terms of which colleague checks which type of assets. It would be nice if I could automatically add the assginment to the asset type for these people. otherwise, as admin, I always have to check first and then end up assigning the same colleagues again anyway.

Map programs & research units to ETD types
Now that undergraduate students can self-deposit in Esploro, it is essential that the process be as straightforward as possible. Currently the programs and research units that they must select from are all possibilities. We would like a way to identify the relevant programs and research units so they are given a subset of relevant options. Without having an appropriate subset it will be much more challenging for everyone, and we are sure we will get a lot of incorrect information in the form.

Resources in Esploro duplicated in Primo VE
Resources inserted in Esploro are duplicated in Primo VE when a bibliographic record for the same work exists in Alma or in other collections.
We are proposing that the deduplication process, used in Primo VE for other record sources, wolud be used also for Esploro resources58 votesDear Colleagues,
We are looking into this issue, we might have a way to flag the publications better for Primo VE to dedup.
We will let you know of updates.

"Update DOI Registration Agency - Research Assets" Job Improvements
The "Update DOI Registration Agency - Research Assets" job that runs daily does not provide detailed reporting. A detailed report of successfully updated, failed, and migrated assets would aid in troubleshooting and administration of the job.
