Add expiry date for "proxy for" users
In an academic institution, many "proxy for" users will be arranged on a semester or yearly basis, it would be good to have an expiry date so that this permission stops and does not extend into perpetuity.
The proxy relation between two users will have an expiration date. After the expiration date, the proxy relation will be considered inactive, and be ignored by the system.
The date of expiry will be updateable in the Proxies tab of the user form.

Thank you again for submitting your enhancement request and for your continued engagement. I want to assure you that your idea is still very much on our radar. We recognize its value and the interest it’s generated, and we appreciate your patience as we work through our current priorities.
While we’re not able to take immediate action on it, it remains part of our planning discussions, and we’ll revisit it as soon as the timing aligns better with our roadmap.

Is there a date for when this will be released?

I see that this enhancement has been planned. May i know if there is a timeline for this release anytime in 2023?

I wanted to add some comments to this. I believe (?) Ex Libris developed something along this line where you can create a separate user for a proxy that would log into Primo differently. And obviously be a different account to check out items on behalf of faculty. But we don't think this is ideal, because it splits a single patron's acvitivty , the proxy, into two records which could create confusion.
So we'd like it if Ex Libris developed this along the original lines laid out in the idea exchange enhancement here, at https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308173-alma/suggestions/16742482-add-expiry-date-for-proxy-for-users

At Boston College we have been tracking proxy borrowers using a spreadsheet. It's a less than ideal solution and entering information into the document actually takes more time than it does to create the relationship between the two accounts in Alma.

What has everyone been doing as a workaround?

As a new Alma user, I was surprised that this is not a standard setting for a proxy.

I agree the expiration date for proxy patron is crucial functionality. Most of our faculty have their students as proxy for one semester specified in the proxy request form. Library staff should be able to enter the expiry date at the time of adding proxy user and not have to manually track and remove when the proxy expires.

I was recently asked about setting up an expiration date and was sort of surprised to find out that it is not an option, especially since we try to be as protective as possible of each user's record and who has access to it. I also encourage Ex Libris to add this to their implementation list.

This seems like it would be a relatively small and straightforward enhancement, but it would have a very positive impact in terms proxy patron management. I hope that Ex Libris chooses to address the issue soon.

When adding a proxy, we definitely need to be able to set a date for their proxy permissions to expire.

I also agree with the comments below. We definitely need here. For a work around will add and expiry date to the student account with notes pointing to the professor's account. SO when the student attempts a library need after the expiry date they will have to get our customer service group to back it out.

I agree with all of the comments below! This would be very helpful in managing proxy accounts.

This seems crucial functionality in order to reflect our users' needs - proxy power generally is given for a specific period, not an indefinite time.

This is an important item. We need to know when to remove proxy responsibility from a patron.

While adding and removing may be recorded in the Audit tab, I don't know that that addresses the issue in this request. Most, if not all, student assistants are only given proxy authorization for a limited time, and so it would be helpful to be able to set an expiration date when the proxy is created (and also update it later if it changes), so that library staff don't need to keep a separate record of when proxies need to be removed and then manually remove each proxy.

Hi,
Please note that adding and removing a proxy is recorded in the user Audit tab.

This would be incredibly helpful. As an academic institution, a lot of faculty will have students as their proxy for only a semester or academic year. It would have us a lot of time from having to check to see when the proxy is supposed to expire, and modifying them manually one by one.

It would be outstanding if there was some way to track when a proxy was added to a patron and/or set an expiration date for that proxy relationship. As it stands, as far as I can tell, there is no way to discern when a proxy was added. Further an automated feature, that will expire a proxy relationship after the end of a semester, for example, would be great.
Thank you
