  1. normalization rules

    Expand language for rules. The few terms, like removeField or prefix, just permit poor operations.
    Maybe the use of another language like c++, basic or java can help.

  2. Batch Update Expiry Date for Items in Department (Work Orders)

    It would be really helpful if we had the ability to change expiry dates for items in process (in department, with a work order) in a batch. This screen already includes the ability to change status, mark done, and generate barcodes in batch. Adding an option to update the expiry date that way seems like a logical addition.

  3. Resource Sharing - Status of Renewed Lending Request not clear

    After Renewing a Lending request the status automatically updates to "Received by Partner" - it would be more helpful if the status updated to 'Renewal Accepted".

  4. Manual Deleting of User (Patron) records and need for consistency in maintaining reportable data

    At present Alma has an inconsistent method of maintaining reportable patron data when a user record is deleted. The reality is that the policies established by an institution (to keep fully reportable, or keep statistics, or fully remove) do not apply when a patron record is manually deleted - ie. Deleted in: Administration > User Management > Find and Manage Users.

  5. Easier Navigation when working within a request category

    Having "next request" and "previous request" options/buttons when working within a group/category of resource sharing requests within ALMA (e.g. cancelled by patron/staff) similar to OCLC's Worldshare

  6. Option of standard clock time or military time

    The 24 hour standard clock time is more feasible for reserve/loan periods rather than military time, or at the very least incorporate both options for the user. Military time is too confusing for our student workers. We had to use a cheat sheet to convert military time to standard clock time to avoid giving incorrect information to the patrons.

  7. Add a "Last page" option on the Results tab

    It would be helpful to include a "Last page" or "end page" arrow on the Results tab in Analytics. There is an arrow to take you to the beginning of the analysis but not to the end. Sometimes it is helpful to go to the end of an analysis to check the data and it is very time-consuming to click the "Next 500 rows" arrow several times on large analyses.

  8. Index 049 field.

    We tie the OCLC holding library in the 049 closely to our Alma holding locations. Searching the text in the 049 field as keyword is quicker than an advanced search. If the idea below to allow free text searching of all MARC fields and subfields is implemented it would cover this request.

  9. Add a support category for vendor contact information.

    Add a technical support option category for contact information (email addresses and phone numbers) in vendor records. Often vendors have different contact information for orders/claims/returns versus support, and right now there is no way in Alma to label a phone number or email address as a technical support line. This leads to confusion on the part of the library's own support staff, and we often end up Googling any contact information listed in Alma. This is a straightforward and necessary enhancement.

  10. Trials - table & report for Purchase Decision field

    For the Purchase Decision field in a Trial we would like to have -
    1/ Ability to add new Purchase Decisions via a table similar to other areas of Alma. At the moment only options are Yes or No
    2/ Be able to run a report (or filter) on this field so we can take to collection development meetings if Purchase Decision was, for example, Future Purchase

  11. Identification of Reply vs Response in Communication tab of POL

    It would be useful to be able to easily identify a Reply vs a Response when looking at all of the 'Answers' associated with a Communication in a POL. Perhaps an arrow could indicate which direction the communication occurred ? e.g. an arrow pointing to the left ('out') if it is a Reply from us to the vendor, or an arrow pointing to the right ('in') if it is a Response from the vendor.   12. Make it possible for patron to automaticaly renew his library card

    Our scenario: User must have a library card in his possession in order to borrow material from that library.The library cards are vaild for one year at a time and thus need to be renewed every year against a small fee.
    Suggested improvement: make it possible for a patron to renew a library card and paying the associated fee on-line.

  13. Change the pick up location when an item is "On Hold Shelf"

    When an item is "On hold shelf" (in a library A), by clicking on "Edit", we can change (only in Alma fortunately) the pick up location (to the library B for example).

    It's a good option, useful when a user has made a mistake and would like to change the pick up location.
    In Alma, currently, when you use this option (so edit > change the pick up location", there is no notification to the library A (livrary A have to send the book to library B).

  14. Make ID fields for which a barcode scanner can be used, programmable to omit first or last characters read in by scanner.

    We import user records for 4 campuses. One campus uses a 9 in front of the student's primary id which can be scanned into Alma. Getting barcode readers to modify a scanned string is difficult, especially on older readers. It would be great if somewhere in the institution parameters, the Primary ID field could be programmed to omit first character only when scanned in using a barcode reader. Ideally, this programming would allow someone to define the parameters so that you could tell Alma, read in from scan digits 1-9, 2-9, 2-8, etc. as there are often alpha/numeric prefixes and…

  16. Lending: Edit Request Type in Manage Fulfillment Options

    We sometimes need to change the Request Type from Physical to Digital and vice versa, after we have placed the request via Management Fulfillment Options. As there is no edit option, we have to place a new request and then delete the redundant option.

  17. Add additonal payment information options to circulation desk configuration, ed: Student ID

    Some institutions allow users to pay fees with funds loaded onto their student ID. This should be an available option when configuring payment options.

    Currently, only the latest version of a Bib record is available from the Bibs API. There should be some way to retrieve older versions of the record.

  19. Community Zone records: subfield t missing in 780 and 785 MARC tags

    In the CZ please add $t (Title of the related resource) to tags 780 (Continues) and 785 (Continued by).

    The lack of $t causes issues in discovery where 780 and 785 tags are set to be displayed, linked and searchable. With no $t this is not possible.

  20. Missing subfields in authority records

    Some of the subfields are missing from the authorities in Alma - in particular subfields for 100 and 700 MARC tags are f, k, l, m, n, o, p, r, s, t
