Create a Set of Inventory from a Title Set
It would be very useful to be able to take a set of titles, and convert it into a set of inventory attached to those titles. Specifically, I would like to create a Portfolio set from a set of Electronic Titles. I have regular need to move groups of portfolios from one local e-collection to another. I have only a list of ISBNs to start with, which I use to create an itemized Electronic Titles set. However, moving portfolios requires a Portfolio set, which can only be created with Portfolio IDs. It is very cumbersome to arrive at the appropriate list of Portfolio IDs when starting with ISBNs: create the title set; use a publishing profile to publish the title set with inventory enrichment to include the portfolio ID number (export job options do not export the portfolio ID); extract the Portfolio IDs from the published file; upload those Portfolio IDs into an itemized portfolio set.
By extension, it should be possible to also create a set of Physical Items from a Physical Titles set, and a set of Digital Files from a set of Digital Titles, as creating itemized set for these invetory types are similaryly limited by what identifiers are accepted.

I see I already commented about five years ago... still waiting! My most common need is actually to make an Electronic Portfolios set from an Electronic Titles set, but the principle stands: I want to do so without having to export the set, extract the PIDs, and reupload them to create the related inventory set.

Posting here to keep this idea active. It would be very helpful to be able to create any inventory set from an existing Title set. It would save the step of exporting MMS IDs and uploading them into an item set.

Just trying to do this today - go from a set of electronic titles to portfolios. One possible way to address this is to add a repository search facet "is in x set." If I could run a search of electronic portfolios where the title is member of x set, I could pull them all up.

I was just trying to work out how to create a list of physical inventory from a physical titles set. It would be really useful for some of the data work we need to do. It is so frustrating not being able to export a list of records from a title set and have the holdings information included as this would be really useful as well. Having the two things so separate is really frustraing.

I stole a vote back from one of my other ideas so I could put three votes on this.

We have had the same issue as this several times, both for electronic inventory and for print inventory.
Use case for portfolios is exactly as described above - moving groups of portfolios from an eba collection to a different local collection.
Our use case for print inventory was to create a set of Items in order to add notes at Item level from a Title set. We could only do this via a long-winded method of running a normalization rule to add a local field to the titles and then create an Item set using the local field as the query.
We would also like to create a set of inventory from a set using MMSIDs as well as ISBNs which seems as though it should more straight forward as they are unique and should easily map to the portfolios or items.
