Alma set from Alma Analytics - allow for creation of a Logical set
Currently it's possible to create a set directly from Analytics, but the end result is an itemised set. This functionality is great for skipping a few steps in exporting a file from Analytics, but fails to take advantage of the dynamic nature of daily Analytics updates. To do that, we need the option to create a Logical set which is tied to an Analytics report.
Use case: We have three Analytics reports for three Publishing Profiles for specific local License Terms, which are sent to an external Resource Sharing provider (RapidILL). We cannot create these sets in Alma due to very limited ties between License records and terms and the required electronic inventory information. At the moment, we periodically manually update from File, and now from Analytics, with refreshed itemised Publishing Profile Sets, but if we could keep the set as Logical from Analytics we could completely automate the process.

Unfortunately we do not possess a technological solution to this issue.

Hi Shoshana and Rafi,

Dear Colleagues,
We have been investigation the possibility of offering the creation of a logical analytics set for some time now. Unfortunately, we currently do not possess a technological solution to address this particular issue. As it is not feasible to create a logical set for Alma from analytics, we will not be able to develop this request.
Thank you for your understanding

This would be great if it also meant that the current limit of 1000 visible records applied to itemised sets was no longer a problem.
Our use case is that we were trying to create a set of citations using an analytics report because we couldn't create the criteria from within Manage sets. The analytics report had over 10,000 records and so failed to create a set because of an undocumented limit of 1000 visible records which is applied for all itemised sets.
The advice we were given was to work with sets containing fewer than 1000 items - which was not practical in this scenario.I agree that it would be great if the set created directly from Analytics could be a logical set in order to keep the set updated automatically. This would be great for our use case - provided that the sets (itemised or logical) could cope with more than 1000 records.

The ability to create a logical set from Analytics Report would really save our time, and allow us to make better use of the relative date feature in Analytics, which is not available in Alma searching alone. We are creating collections of new materials by first creating a report in Analytics, using relative dates (past 30 days, past 1 years, etc.), then creating a set in Alma from the Analytics report, and then populating a collection from this set for Collection Discovery. Currently, only an itemized set can be created from Analytics Report, so although we can automate the running of the source report itself, we have to completely re-create a new set each time we want to update, and then refresh our collection from the set. A logical set from the Analytics report would greatly simplify the process and save our time, and make it much easier and more efficient for us to highlight new materials for our end users!
