Ability to create a set of holdings records in Alma
Currently in Alma you can conduct a repository search to create a set of physical titles (bibliographic records) or physical items (item records). Although you can do an Advanced Search of certain data fields in holdings records, there is no functionality to create a set of holdings records.
(You can create a set of titles or items and run the manual jobs: change physical items or change holdings information. Unfortunately, the set of physical titles include all holdings records linked to the bibliographic records (including holdings records you may not want to change). And you don't always have search criteria for physical items that will collocate all the holdings records you would like.)
Use case: With a set of holdings records, you can run an indication rule (filtering by the Marc holdings data: leader, 008, 852...) and/or use a norm rule to make batch changes to the set of holdings record.

Dear all,
We would like to update that physical holdings sets management is supported in the August release, including both logical and itemized sets.
We are currently working on the ability to run jobs that impact physical inventory (items/holdings) also on physical holdings sets, which we hope to have ready in a coming release. -

I'm glad we will be able to create sets of holdings records. Will the ability to create indication rules for holdings records be part of this? Right now, I believe it's limited to bibliographic records.

Has the release been identified for this functionality? We have a large project that would be so much easier to complete with holdings sets and indication rules functionality. Very much looking forward to this functionality!

This feature is now planned for the second half of 2021 and 2022 according to the Jan 2021 Alma roadmap (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Materials/010Roadmap/Alma_Roadmap_Highlights_-_January_2021/Physical_Resource_Management)
See "Holdings – New Staff Search Results" "Holdings – Support Set Management" "Holdings – Enhanced Batch Jobs"

I asked about the status of this feature through Salesforce (case 00732675, unpublished). Exlibris support said it is on the Alma product roadmap but additional info was not available. They say enhancements are handled internally by Exlibris developers and no updates are made available to Support.

We really need this and are sorry that it is not included on the roadmap any more.

Dear Exlibris,
Is this feature (Ability to create a set of holdings records in Alma) still planned?
I do not see it on the Alma Roadmap: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Materials/010Roadmap
or in the 2019 release notes:

Being able to create an indication rule to search for a set of holdings records would be great. I was trying to find all holdings with 852 first indicator 8 and subfield c but I currently can't do it.
So as you can see I would use this function.

As per the previous comment, this idea is indeed included in the Roadmap Highlights.

In the Alma Roadmap Highlights, page 65 mentions that Exlibris is planning this functionality in H2 2018-2019.

I would use this feature frequently. Excellent idea.

PLEASE!!! I totally agree w/the others. This is BASIC functionality that we have had available not only in Voyager but in other, older ILSs. It is crazy that Alma doesn't let us do this.

This is such a basic function and it was available to us in Voyager. I wish Ex Libris would look at the things that Voyager did right, and learn from them. So many times, we have our hands tied now by things that Alma will not allow us to do.

We really need this functionality. An automated process ExLibris created in order to supply and update textual holdings statements based on our 853/863 fields was faulty in the beginning and corrupted millions of our 008s and LDRs in holdings records. We now have no way to create a set of the corrupted holdings, no way to search on the 008 or LDR values, no way to repair *just* the corrupted records without trashing later, valid records.
You can't maintain a database where you don't have access to all the data. If data exists, it should be exposed to searching and manipulation. We are missing a basic tool by not being able to create sets of holdings records.
