'Not Needed After' date should be mandatory on patron physical request form.
It would be helpful if the 'Not Needed After' date is mandatory on the patron physical request form to improve the requesting process for Patrons when there is a high demand for physical items.

An approach we’ll be looking at is that an optional ‘Last Interest Period’ request policy will, if set, be used to set a default the last interest date (Primo and Alma). This way every request will have a last interest date set by the policy and overridable by the patron.

Please make this field mandatory. It will benefit for both patrons and library staff. Highly requested items with long waiting lists will not be put on Hold shelf after this mandatory date. It will reduce a lot of time for the library staff when it comes to processing requests and post deliveries between campuses.

It will be of great benefit to many of us if this field can be made mandatory in the Hold request form as soon as possible. We strongly support the Idea.

With the new functionality for Not Needed After in Alma/Primo (May release 2021), customers are already starting to ask for this field to be mandatory in the Hold request form. It is possible to set as mandatory in the Resource Sharing Form. Will we see this option in the Hold Request Form customization as well?

I faciliate Camilla's comment. Since the "not needed after" date has no effect, we decided to opt out this date in PRIMO. Making this field mandantory wouldn't be helpful for us.

This is also highly connected with idea "Patron physical item request – automatic cancellation of requests when ‘Date Needed By’ has passed", that is under review.
There is no real use of a mandatory "not needed after" date, if the request is not deleted or updated on the given date. As it is now, the "not needed after" date has no impact on the request.

In these COVID-19 times, patrons may make requests for physical documents, but they will not be processed until the campuses are reopened. We must make this field mandatory so that queries that have "expired" do not fill the hold shelf.
