  2. Add function to suppress a bib record from a title search results list

    Add the ability to suppress or unsuppress a bib record directly from search results without having to open the record in the Metadata Editor. It's inefficient to have to have to open and close the MDE for that single task.

  3. Make ACTL reports dynamic

    In a network environment usually the majority of Institution-Zone-BIB-records are linked to the Network Zone. Currently the ACTL reports are not comprehensive – see Ideas Exchange “Make reports in the ACTL of a network environment comprehensive”.

    Once the IZ-ACTL comprehensively reports on the records representing all the resources available in a particular library, it would be of great help if the reports within a NZ environment were dynamic.   4. Make reports in the ACTL of a network environment comprehensive

    Working at an institution that is part of a network environment with one Network Zone and various Institution Zones, the Authority Control Task List, in its current form, is a tool that is of very limited use.

    NZ-BIB-records are processed by the various jobs on the NZ level, while IZ-BIB-records are processed on the IZ level. On the IZ level, one is currently notified about IZ records, along with records linked to CZ - even if the latter are obviously not processed on the IZ level, but on the CZ level.

  5. Bring back alt+keystrokes

    In MDE pushing the alt key now moves between menu items. However, this means it is no longer possible to use alt + keystrokes to enter characters such as © etc, something that was infinitely more useful.

    We are working on aligning the new Alt+number keyboard behavior in MDE with the Alt+number settings in Alma, so that it will be controlled by the same user preference (under the user in the top menu, UI preferences > Shortcuts customization > Alt + number). As a result, individual users who wish to disable this (e.g. those working with external Alt+number keyboard shortcuts) will be able to do so across the system, including MDE.

  6. Consistently include Use Cases for new features listed in Release Notes

    We'd like to see a use case or rationale for all Release Notes, in addition to the description of the new functionality and any necessary documentation. This could be something you could link to from the Release description, in the interest of brevity. While these are sometimes provided, their inclusion is currently sporadic.

    Often while reviewing Release Notes with colleagues we find ourselves wondering exactly what problem is being solved and why someone would want to enable or adopt a new functionality. Including the use case or rationale for each enhancement could increase buy-in and understanding for a wider user…

  7. "Maximum renewal date" should be viewable on Alma

    "Maximum renewal date" should be viewable not only Primo, but Alma. Patron can see his/her "Maximum renewal date" by him/herself, but staff can NOT check it.

  8. Add ability to map more bibliographic fields to Analytics

    There is currently the option to map 10 fields as Local Param 1-10. This was raised from 5-10 more than two years ago in January 2019. We used the last of these for required data at the start of 2021, but still did so reluctantly as there's been no sign of coming development to expand the number again. More fields are needed, so we'd appreciate this being considered.

  9. Add the ability to add notes to POLs en masse

    During some projects, it is necessary to append the same note to a group of POLs (cancellation projects, for instance).

    Being able to add a note to a group of POLs en masse (versus adding the note to each POL one by one) would be helpful.

  10. Allow Fulfillment Network Member (AFN) to lend resources, but not serve as a physical pick-up location for other network members' patrons

    Since some institutions have buildings with perpetual restricted access, we have some AFN fulfillment network member libraries that are willing to send their materials to another AFN member library for pick-up, but, for all functional purposes, they are closed to the public. They don't want patrons from the other AFN institutions to visit their library in person, and thus, don't want patrons from another AFN institution to select their library as a pick-up location.

    This need has been heightened during the pandemic, with more institutions closed to the public.

  11. ALMA Cloud apps; can we enable this feature role-based

    with lots of interest we have followed the Igelu presentations about ALMA Cloud Apps.
    For now we have not enabled this feature though we would like to use it.
    We do not want all our ALMA users to be able to use all these apps.
    It looks as now the only choice is 'enable or disable'.

    Is it possible to add Alma Cloud apps role based?
    For example for our users who have a General Administrator role or to the meta data experts in our library?

    Dear community,   

    I would like to update you that this idea is planned to be developed. Thew planned solution will allow to limit users to be able to install/use only cloud apps that they have the proper roles for operating, meaning - users will not be able to install/use a cloud app they do not have the required roles to operate it. And, it will support the option for enabling the use of cloud apps only for users that are specifically chosen (by giving them a dedicated role for that), Meaning - users will be able to install/use cloud apps only if they were given a dedicated role for that.

    If nothing will come up during development, this is currently planned to be released in 2024 H2.

  14. Add more fields to the Update PO lines information & Update POLs Advanced jobs

    All fields of the POL should be something that can be updated by job.
    Some specific fields that it would be really helpful to have in the Update PO Lines Information or Update PO Lines Information Advanced jobs are:
    Subscription from/to dates
    Renewal date
    Cancellation Restriction checkbox & Cancellation Restriction Note
    While it might be possible to update these fields via the APIs, the permissions and skill level needed to use the APIs is much higher than to run jobs.

  15. New notification letter when expiry date is updated

    When updating the expiry date for items on hold shelf, we miss the opportunity to resend notification letter with the new expiry date. We are aware of the resend notification functionality, but this will not include the new expiry date.

  16. Add Codabar barcode symbology support to the Alma Mobile app

    Our library is in the process of migrating to Alma and we have hundreds of thousands of items with Codabar barcodes on them. We would like to use the Alma Mobile app to reduce paper and increase efficiency, but the Alma iOS app does not currently scan the Codabar symbology.

    We are considering options such as purchasing Bluetooth scanners, but as there are other apps in the Apple App store which do scan codabar barcodes, it seems like this feature could be added to the Alma Mobile app. And this would be very helpful.

    Like the title suggest, A dark mode/theme for Alma.
    Having the white background can be very sore on the eyes, and many prefer the reverse ( black background / white font ).

  18. Analyse and normalise special characters and diacritics in Alma records

    In order to enable correct and consistent automatic linking between Bib. headings and authority records, Alma's treatment of diacritics needs to be normalised, and made configurable according to the Authority file being used. In addition there are special characters in use (such as quotation marks), that have more than a single graphic representation that should be normalised in order to prevent discrepancies in Almas' match and link mechanisms.

    Dear all, we would like to update that in addition to what was done in the May 2020 Release, we are looking at ways to allow libraries to select if diacritics should be taken into account in the linking process. We are exploring adding diacritics matching as a condition in the authority control rules to support flexibility, setting this for specific authority vocabularies only.

  19. Make physical item sort routines stick

    For those of us working with continuing resources:

    When viewing a list of physical items, the sort routine defaults to Library/Location. The items do not appear in any particular order when the results are loaded. Often I change the sort routine to Description or Receiving Date to view the most recent serial items and order them chronologically for viewing.

    It would be nice if the sort routine "sticks" so that every time I open a list of items, the sort mechanism will stay on Description (not default back to Library/Location)

  20. Preferred term correction should flip headings that change tag number

    Alma authority control does not handle cases where the bib heading is linked to an authority via a cross-reference, but the preferred and non-preferred terms are in different fields, e.g. preferred term is in authority field 130 and cross-reference in authority is in 410.

    Alma should be able to handle this scenario. Currently when the bib heading matches the authority cross-reference, Alma won't correct these and instead puts them on this report: Preferred Term Correction - Bib Heading found no authorized term.
