Make physical item sort routines stick
For those of us working with continuing resources:
When viewing a list of physical items, the sort routine defaults to Library/Location. The items do not appear in any particular order when the results are loaded. Often I change the sort routine to Description or Receiving Date to view the most recent serial items and order them chronologically for viewing.
It would be nice if the sort routine "sticks" so that every time I open a list of items, the sort mechanism will stay on Description (not default back to Library/Location)
This would be especially helpful when managing items in the Receiving module "Received Items List," as we constantly must sort by Description to make sure no serial issues have been missed, and that the most recent issue has been received.
This is very helpful when checking PO lines in the Claims list. From the PO line details page, I click under Ordered Items>View Items. The List of Items sort routine often "sticks" here so that every time I View Items, they are automatically sorted by my previous choice (Description, Receiving Date, etc). This is the only instance I have seen the sort routine stick!
Please, Alma, remember my sorting preferences!
We will remember the user preferences for sorting the items list, so it will be "sticky".

Dear all,
I would like to update that this enhancement is part of our updated 2025 roadmap: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Materials/010Roadmap/Alma_Roadmap_Highlights_(2024-2025)/Physical_Resource_Management#User_Preference_for_Physical_Item_Sort_RoutineAs part of the new title search UX, Alma will remember the selected sort of the physical items section, and this ability will be added to the items list during 2025.

I support the idea

I think it is possible for Admins to define sorting routines and to set them as default. I'm not quite sure whether it would solve the problem mentioned here, but for us it did the trick. Maybe the page "Configuring Physical Item Sort Routines" in the Knowledge Center could be of help.

Yes please!

Yes. And I'd like the sort to be separately configured in Primo for the display of items so that globally, all sorting could be Library - Location - Description so that if the latest volume is received after an older volume, it doesn't sort in a way that makes no sense to readers
