  1. Add a parameter to turn off Borrowing Activity Letter when using renew selected or renew all

Currently, the "Borrowing Activity Letter" is sent when a staff member renews items for a patron via Manage Patron Services.

This letter is often superfluous and the behavior is not ideal for libraries with "separate _ patron _ notifications _ by _ library" set to true – it ends up sending a letter from each library where the patron borrowed material.

If we had a parameter that could turn off sending it when renew selected or renew all is used, then we would turn it off and staff could elect to send it when they felt it was useful or…

  2. update expiry from booking

For bookings, it is possible to update expiry from the request list in the user account, but it would be very practical to have this option in the active and expired hold shelves item lists for bookings, too.

  3. Display of refund message of lost (overdue and billed item)

When an item has been billed for replacement. Then that item is scanned in (returned) a message pops-up that says the fee has been refunded.
I am aware that this is based on the refund ration as part of the terms of use. We have our TOU set for 100% refund.
The issue is that some fees get sent to bursars. When that happens the fee is not automatically removed (either from ALMA or bursars) upon check in. In addition the library may decide not to refund any or part of the fee that has gone to bursars.
    However, when…

  4. add ability to edit existing display logic rules

Currently once a display logic rule is written, it can't be edited, which means one needs to write second one, or delete the first and write a new one. This is tedious and a waste of time, and the ability to edit rules would be a big improvement!

  5. Add "All" tab to Patron Services screen & 2-column view ("All x" & "X of this session") to Loan and Return tabs

Patron Services area is too granular -- too many potential places to look for (or not see) information about various transactions, especially during busy times or high-stress interactions, especially for student workers. Information that patrons or staff need can too easily be missed.

An "All" tab (ahead of the "Loans" tab) may assist -- it could list ALL recent transactions in a table (including loans, returns, requests, and network activity) with the type of transaction indicated in one column.

Likewise, a two-column view in the Loans tab and/or the Returns tab could reduce the risk of a staff member missing…

  6. Calendar update recurring

It would be useful to be able to enter the dates of recurring holidays localized by country via "Calendar Management", in order to avoid having to confirm these dates every year.

  7. New Manage Patron Services UI

In the new circulation desk UI, it would be useful if the appearance of the options: "Send loan receipt" and "Send request receipt" can be configured.
In a library that has decided not to enable these two letters, it does not make sense for them to show in the options drop-down menu.
The same thing happens with the option "add/renew patron role".

  8. Add "Prefer Open Access resources" option on the Online Services Order page

Configuring the Online Services Order (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/030Fulfillment/080Configuring_Fulfillment/090Discovery_Interface_Display_Logic/035ViewIt#Configuring_the_Order_of_Online_Services) includes several options, including an "Additional Preferences" section where one can choose whether or not to prioritize CZ collections, source service, ID based linking services, or prefer resources with a PO Line. However, there is no option for prioritizing OA resources. In order to allow libraries to make Open Access resources more readily available to end users, in this idea, I request that a preference be added to this list, "Prefer Open Access resources." Like the other "Additional Preferences" option, there would be a radio button to select "Yes" or "No." I…

  9. Add barcodes to an items available facets in customize view.

When viewing items in Alma, it would be nice to add an items barcode as an available facet to see. All other impertinent item information is available (call number, title, author, etc.)besides item barcodes.

  10. Fulfilment Network - Control of the Register button display by user group of the logged-in user.

*This is for the Fulfillment Network, not AFN.

The Register button(1) is displayed even if the logged-in user is set to "Restricted Users"(2).

Primo VE checks with Alma whether the FN function is available after pressing the Register button.

We think this button control is not designed with the User experience.
This is because the existence of the register button is meaningless for users who cannot use this feature.

To improve this function, the Register button should not be displayed to users who are set as Restricted Users.

  11. Add option for Due Time to be after Midnight

Our library is sometimes open until 1:00am and when it is we want the due time of our items to be when we close and not at midnight. Currently to do this the due time needs to be overridden for each relevant item by our front desk. Adding this as an option in either calendar management or as a policy option would reduce manual effort by our staff, lower the risk of mistakes being made and patrons incorrectly being charged fines, and lessen confusion among our patrons.

  12. Duplicate "Discovery Interface Display Logic" functionality to Configuration > Discovery

Many libraries have staff structures where discovery and fulfillment configuration are handled by different staff (who may be in different departments.) Having the "Discovery Interface Display Logic" menu in Configuration > Fulfillment means that discovery administrators must be granted fulfillment administrator roles to configure those aspects. In a "least risk" permission model, it would be much more preferable for those options to be on the Discovery Administrator menu - instead of fulfillment, or at the very least in addition to fulfillment, so that the extra role does not have to be granted.

  13. Manage Item Returns: Send one Return Receipt Letter can be aggregated like the overdue notices.

There should be a standard configuration that would allow libraries to set it up and set a batch time so a returned receipt would reflect all of the items returned in one day for a given borrower on one "returned" receipt.

  14. Lost in Transit Items Alert

I would love it if we could get an alert sent to the task list widget for staff in charge of fulfillment when an item has been in transit too long ("too long" as defined by the institution could be set somewhere in config settings). This would then alert the staff member to check shelves, and if not found on local shelves, contact the other institution to ask them to check theirs. If the staff member alerted wanted someone else to follow up on things, they could assign it to another user.

Right now, staff must remember to check the…

  15. Library level patron limits configuration

It should be possible to configure the Patron Limits table at the library level. Only Max Cash, Max Overdue and Max overdue recalls should be configurable, so that each library will be able to control when it starts blocking patrons independently of one another.

  16. Provide fulfillment configuration utility information in an API response

Currently, testing configurations requires manually pasting information into the Fulfillment Configuration Utility and then reviewing output.

It would be much more helpful if an API could accept a list of users and barcodes and return the output of the fulfillment configuration utility - names of the matched rules, or names + policy values. That would allow for much more robust and efficient testing of configuration.

  17. Include MARC leader in General Electronic Services Bib Fields Enrichment

The addition of bib fields enrichment for general electronic services has been helpful in creating service availability rules for GESes, but there is no way to configure enrichment based upon content in the MARC record leader. This is where primary resource aspects are noted, such as record type, bibliographic level, and whether a resource is under archival control. Being able to use this criteria when displaying or hiding a service would be much easier than the convoluted and imperfect workarounds we've resorted to.

  18. Add pickup library code to On Hold Shelf Letter (FulPlaceOnHoldShelfLetter)

In our consortial environment we are maintaining a public list of libraries. The patrons can see the library contact information there for each library in our network - https://libraries.swisscovery.help.

We would like to add a URL link to this list to specific pickup library where the user has to pickup the title mentioned in the On Hold Shelf Letter (code FulPlaceOnHoldShelfLetter).

Unfortunately, the pickup library code is not available in the letter XML. There are pickup library name (request/deliveryaddress) or combination of library name and circulation desk name (request/calculateddestination_name). But these are not suitable for URL linking.

  19. title and other variables in email subject field

We would like to include variables in the email subject line for emails to make more sense to patrons. When patrons see generic email headings, they tend to see the email as 'noise' along with other institutional email clutter. However, when patrons see a title that is personally relevant to them when they scan their inbox, they are much more likely to open and read the message.

We are asking Ex Libris to consider using the same syntax of @@variable_name@@ as a method to include variables in the subject field of the email. Please consider:

    title
    requestID
    requesttype

  20. Add warning to "Scan In Items" and "Shipping Items" for certain item policies

We would like to suggest the implementation of a pop-up for "Scan In Items" and "Shipping Items" to alert staff when they are about to process an item with a restrictive item policy (e.g. 63, 67, 68, etc.).

For example, when a request is placed at the title level and there are multiple items with differing item policies, this pop-up would be helpful to avoid processing the wrong item.
