  1. Add very compact display option, 1 row per title

    Please add a really compact additional display option
    – 1 row per title
    – no icon

    to allow an overview / quick scanning of long result lists.

    When I do a search on my laptop, I see two titles on the result list and the start of a third.


    Default number of results for the compact display should be 100 or more.

    And it should be a setting in the patron account.

  2. Quicklink display options on full record

    In Primo VE, any quicklinks associated with records show both at the top of the full record display and in the Links section of the record. CSS can be used to hide quicklinks from the Links section, but often results in a blank Links section on the record.

    It would be helpful to have options to show quicklink at the top of the full record display, but hide them from the Links section. This would help improve the usefulness of the Links section of the record.

  3. Fix the RIS file export

    Many Primo Alma customers have had to add additional display fields in Primo to enable correct export of Multiple authors and Publishers to a RIS file for Refworks or other Bibilographic tools.

    Please can this be fixed for everyone? I am attaching our Refworks mapping file as an example.

  4. Improve Author Name Normalization for PCI Facets

    Frequently, we encounter different facet values for the same author in PCI search results. For instance, there are some PNX records in PCI with creatorcontrib facet values of "Shakespeare, William" and some with "William Shakespeare". The problem is exacerbated when results are blended with local records.

    Ideally, the name forms should be more consistent and match Primo's out-of-the box normalization rules for MARC records.

    We realize this is a difficult problem to solve when ingesting metadata from disparate sources, but we believe it could be better.

  5. Activation request for "Films on Demand"

    When searching the Community Zone there is a record for Films on Demand (Humanities and Social Sciences Video Collection), but there are no portfolios (titles) attached to it. It's just a brief bib record.

    We'd like to request an activated record (with items attached) for Films on Demand.

  6. Modify BackOffice to Clearly Identify Old UI vs New UI components and methods.

    It is very frustrating to have documentation that leads you down one path in Backoffice, only to later find out that the path is only applicable to the old UI and has no effect on the new UI. Modify the configuration wizard to clearly identify things as new UI or old UI. Ideally, BackOffice would react to the checkbox for New UI and only show me choices that are applicable to the new UI.

  7. Table of Contents Display

    It would be nice to have the table of contents field (505) formatted in a more user friendly manner within PrimoVE. In Voyager there was a rule that converted the ' -- ' to <LF><CR> (which is 'Enter').

    I have attached examples of how it displays in our Voyager OPAC vs PrimoVE.

  8. Make the result list look ok when printed by adding a print stylesheet

    Yes, sometimes you actually want to make a print copy of the result list :) But if you try that (with the new UI), the result is a complete mess. I just tried printing a result with 5 results, expecting them to fit into one page. Instead I got three pages, and two of the results disappeared altogether.

    To make the result list look ok when printed, we need a print stylesheet. Of course every Primo customer can spend hours trying to make their own, but it would be much better if Primo could ship with a default stylesheet that…

  9. Aleph patron setting - "force change password at the first login" in Primo (Privacy and security of personal data)

    Aleph doesn't have a Parameter or a flag on the patron record to "force the Password change at the first Login". This is a security Problem, related GDPR and privacy of personal data. Users must be force to change their Password at the first Login. Please consider implementing this Feature in Aleph.

  10. Allow libraries at primary Alma campus to be prioritized in Primo displays

    Currently on an item brief display, when multiple holdings exist, the availability statement shows whichever holding library comes first alphabetically, and on the results pages the Libraries facet lists libraries in alphabetical order. This alpha setup is problematic for multi-college / multi-library institutions that use per-campus Primo views. If the campus holds the item, its holding, not another campus that comes first alphabetically, should display in the availability statement. In addition, the Libraries facet should either prioritize the primary campus, or be sorted in order of number of hits (as most facets are) rather than alphabetically.

  11. Make Primo VE search box placeholder text customizable by search profile/scope

    Placeholder text within the Primo VE search box (Search Tiles Labels table > nui.search.placeholder) can be customized by View by adding a new label that includes the name of the specific view. However, it would be most helpful if the search placeholder text could also be customized by search scope or profile, so that when the user selects a different option within the same view the placeholder text changes. Brief instructions/examples for searching could then be included for each profile/scope, greatly enhancing the user search experience by identifying the kind of content included or the best way to search.

  12. Browse by government document call number

    Currently, we don't have the option of browsing call numbers in the 086 field in Primo VE. This is a problem for the many libraries who work with government documents and use government documents call number schemes. Being able to search for single call numbers doesn't help for tasks where you need a list ordered by call numbers (like taking inventory, weeding, and assigning new call numbers). Please add a government documents call number browse index.

  14. Show printed holdings in brief display when both printed and electronic exist

    When having articles with both printed and electronic holdings the printed holdings doesn't get displayed in Brief Display until you click to the Full Display. If you then return to Brief Display you will see the printed holdings. Look at screencast: https://www.screencast.com/t/6v3E0HBQ The printed holdings should be displayed directly in Brief Display without having to click to full display.

  15. "Guide Me" in Primo

    I would like to suggest to add “Guide Me” also in Primo for library users, as it exists already in Alma for library staff.
    Most of the libraries would like to have some guides for Primo users about different useful functions. The built-in option of “Guide Me” that the user will receive during his search in Primo can be very useful. This “Guide Me” can be Generic (written by Ex Libris) and include an edit option which will allow the Librarian to edit it.

  16. Make databases categories field distinguished by institution also for searching

    In consortial environment, if the label of a database category assigned in IZ A for a database AAA is the same in IZ B but for another database BBB, this database BBB is also found in IZ A.
    Using different local extensions per each IZ doesn't help.
    As categories usually are defined with generic names that are used in several IZs, this funtionality is not usable as is in consortial environment.

  17. Ability to boost newer editions as 5 publication dates does not do this job well.

    Currently we have older editions showing above newer editions in Primo VE. It would be helpful to be able to boost editions by the number of the edition. Currently the date boost has only 5 possible options in Primo VE. This means you can only add 5 separate years to regulate newer editions showing above old ones. Uses date ranges doesn't work as the edition between the range get same boost. Either you need to increase the number of date boost entries or create an ability to boost by edition.

  18. Display Licenses for Results from CDI if holdings are associated with a license

    For Primo VE search results, display the license for results obtained from the CDI. Primo already displays the license terms of results obtained from Alma holdings. License terms are displayed next to a Primo VE result that is from an institution’s Alma holding if the Alma holding has a license assigned to it (shown in the Electronic Collection Editor’s General tab in Alma), but the license is not currently displayed when Primo VE search results are obtained from the CDI for the same holding (that does have a license assigned to it.).   19. Have the sort order for libraries affect the pickup location order in Primo

    There is currently a library sort order in Discovery for Primo VE. Our wish was to have the main campus appear first and then the branches. However we discovered that while we have options to try sorting by IP or by a custom order, this configuration does not apply to the request screen - pickup location order. We confirmed this with a ticket, and develop noted that only the alphabetical order applies to this area.   20. Language field in Brief Record Display ought to use the Language codes Labels (VE)

    For institutions with multi-lingual collections, the out-of-the-box Language field can be a useful addition to the record display. When Language is added to the Full Record display, the "Language codes Labels" code table is used to convert the abbreviated codes used in metadata records into generally understood language names–e.g. the code 'gle' displays as 'Irish'.

    When the Language field is added to the Brief Record display, however, the labels are NOT used and the code is displayed as-is. Ex Libris recognizes this as a defect (case #06659538) but a solution is not part of the current development work plan. We…
