  1. Show the date/time a question is asked in the AI research assistant, and in the copied result.

The date/time a question was asked is only visible when hovering over the question in the research history sidebar. This is a problem especially when working with history items that have multiple questions.
Scenario: User asks a question on something contemporary. They want to ask the same question in 3 months and then again in 6 months as more sources become available.

From the history they open their previous question and use the "Try again" function. In another few weeks they do this again.

The question responses do not indicate when each iteration of the question was asked.

  2. Additional Format options for resource sharing request form

The resource sharing request form currently only allows selections of "Physical" and "Digital", but patrons might have both preferences and flexibility on the format of their requests. Additional options like "Physical Only, Digital Only, Physical preferred but digital accepted, or Digital preferred but physical accepted" would be helpful for both patrons and ILL staff.

  4. Add the option to sort results in Collection by newest acquisitions

We would like to be able to sort results in a Collection in Primo VE by newest acquisitions at the top. So perhaps sorting by date created of the record in Alma.

This way we could make collections that display the newest purchases in our library at the top.

  5. Remove Oclc only limitation in 035 indexing in Primo VE - i.e. index all 035 values

Right now values in tag 035 are indexed in Primo VE only if they are Oclc values (see reply to idea: https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308176-primo/suggestions/31282558-find-records-by-record-numbers ).
In all other cases they are not indexed, and Ex Libris says that one can add a local field for 035 tag to index all of them. That's what we did at our Library. Still, it's hard to understand why one should implement a local field for a feature that should work out of the box.

All 035 values should be indexed by default.

  6. Primo VE - make frbr work with Esploro / research data data as well

Surprisingly, in Primo VE FRBR feature does not apply to Esploro research data records blended with Alma records.
It should instead work also with Esploro / Research Data.

  7. Add Linked Data functionality for DOIs in records to find and present related content

Where a record contains a DOI, it would be great if Primo could look up the DOI (vis CrossRef?) and find the DOIs and metadata for any related content, and present them in an Info Card on the full record display, in the same format as is used for the Person Info Card. This would allow linking between an article (published or present in an Institutional Repository) and its dataset or software, or any retraction or corrigendum related to the article. It would help us to present research outputs within their context and improve research reproducibility.

  8. Ability to sort/filter according to item status

Ability to sort/filter according to item status

The display order of item records in Primo is the same order in which they appear on the Alma record. Although we can sort them within Alma according to Library/Location, from a user perspective it would be helpful if they had the ability to apply a filter/sort to see first only the itens that are available to borrow

  9. PRIMO Advanced Search: Reduced Usability After Latest Update

    Hello,

In the latest PRIMO update, the Advanced Search has become less efficient and less intuitive for daily use.

Previously, it was possible to quickly edit search fields directly within the interface. Now, even small changes (such as editing a title) require reopening the edit screen, which adds extra steps and slows down the workflow.

For librarians who rely on Advanced Search, this reduces usability and productivity. I would appreciate it if you could consider restoring the previous, more intuitive and streamlined editing experience.

    Thank you.

  11. Lateral linking for uniform titles

Please let us add lateral links for uniform titles.

This seems to have been possible in Primo BO: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/Primo/Highlights/026Primo_November_2017_Highlights#Enhanced_Hypertext_Linking

"Hypertext linking has been extended to the following PNX display fields: [...] unititle [...]."

I attach our display rules to show which fields to include.

    For search: hypertext links

  12. Extend subject heading display masking to CDI records

Like many other institutions, we have used the subject display normalization rules for display to mask offensive subject headings with more preferable terms.

However, these changes do not impact the CDI records. We would like to see the changes we made in the subject display masking apply to the CDI records, whether through the same rule or through a new configuration option specific to CDI.

For reference: If anyone is interested in our documentation to see examples, it's available here: https://connect.library.utoronto.ca/display/CAUG/Subject+Masking+-+Go+Live

  13. My Favorites load automatially as user scrolls down

In a recent student survey we had feedback that users would like their complete list of Favorites to be more accessible and visible. In particular, users requested that instead of choosing 'Load more results' after every ten My Favorites, that their My Favorites list auto-loaded as they scrolled down the page.

  14. Journal coverage: show more label if there is more than one embargo

Since November 2021 journal coverage is shown in brief results (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Release_Notes/002Primo_VE/2021/010Primo_VE_2021_Release_Notes#Show_Journal_Coverage_Dates_in_Brief_Results_and_Journal_Search_).
This is very good, but there is one rule that is not the best solution. It is stated: "Coverage information may include a single embargo, and if multiple embargoes exist, only one of them will appear in the coverage."
Now, embargoes of different portfolios may contradict each other. So, if the user only see the first one, he may erraneously believe he has no access. Therefore, as soon as there is more than one embargo, the more label should get added to the journal coverage in the…

  15. Separate the Primo My Account Update Login Credentials form into two different forms for PIN code and Password

As a user, I would like to have two different forms for Pincode update and Password update (Update Login Credentials in My Account > Personal Settings) so I am sure that I can also change only one of the two. With the current design (=one form for PIN and password update), it is suggested to me that I always have to update both.

  16. Change handling of MARC fields 100 and 700 in citation styles in Primo VE

Handling of MARC fields in citation styles should be changed as follows:
    1. If there are relator codes in $4, only $4 aut and cmp should be considered as author, relator codes $4 edt, ill, ivr, trl and drt should be treated as contributors. Entries with other $4 codes should be ignored for citation.
    2. If there are no relator codes $4 in the record, field 100 should be considered as author, field 700 as contributor.
Benefits: Citiation styles get independent from cataloguing language as they are now by using $e. Also citation styles work independent from the fact, if…

  17. ability to reintegrate Newspaper indexes into main search

deactivating "Newspaper search" results in a loss of content. Activating Newspaper search defeats the purpose of a discovery layer for some institutions. Also the the results in Newspaper Search still fails many times for known item searches and does not function the same as the main search.

  18. Add Reserves "Reading List" to facets navigation panel.

This would allow a clean up project for a multiple location library system. It would bring reserves more closely aligned with standard cataloging by basically using the Course as a high level catalog record (think bib level), Reading List as middle tier (holdings level shelving location). By combining the Course to one entry with the reading lists showing shelving, it would take our records from five courses and five reading lists per class offering to one course with five reading list. This would help clean up database space and form more consistency across locations.

  19. Primo VE, Quicklinks and "Available Online" indication

We’d like the "Available Online" text in be suppressed if Quicklinks are displayed for the citation in the brief results display.

    As the librarians put it:

"to turn off the "Available Online"
link/message if the quick links are available. “

And alternately, "... make the "Available Online" link go directly to the article like the "Read PDF" Quicklink option does? "

Reducing the number of possible links to click on would improve Primo VE.
    Thanks.

  20. unpaywall - collection separation

in the webinar : Yes, We’re Open! Open Access in Knowledgebases and Discovery 20231211 1501 1 1 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhZ34Y1Rzdo) Christine Stohn mentioned that Ex Libribs we interested in feedback to find out how people wanted UnPaywall content to be available, e.g. split up by version.

I would therefore like to proposed that the UnPaywall Collection be split into 3 separate collections, Submitted version, author accepted versions and Version of Record/Published version.

This would not only enable us to only enable the versions we want and avoid those we don't, but also allow us to potentially signpost the version types…
