1. Adding Facets to Database Search page.

   By adding a 'Facets' pane to the Database Search results page, consistency between the different search type's results will be improved and users will be able to post-filter Find Databases searches.
   For example: a user would be able to filter by both subject AND resource type as used to be possible when the Metalib interface was used for the Databases A-Z list.

2. Inform users when wildcard limit has been reached for local records (when still displaying CDI results)

   Based on Salesforce case 06390632.

   When using wildcards in a Primo search, there is a limit to how many you can use before the search triggers an error that excludes all local records.

   This limit is only for local records. The CDI search does not follow the same limitations and will still gather results even if this limit is reached.

   If a users crosses the wildcard threshold when searcing in a scope containing only local records, there will be an error message displayed that explains why no results were found. However, if the same search is done in a blended scope (Local + CDI) then this message is not displayed - the local records are just cut while still displaying the CDI records. Only the most attentive and/or experienced users of Primo will notice that the local records are not displaying, while the majority of users will assume that the results presented are the only hits. This skews the search to only show CDI-results and "hides" the local collection that probably has a lot of relevant documents on the subject.

   The preferred outcome of this Idea is to give users the error information even if CDI results are displaying. This would improve their ability to A: understand what is presented to them and B: alter the search to find local records.

3. Put search/feedback links in logical order on mobile menu - NDE

   In NDE on small screens, the Advanced Search, Feedback (Report a problem) and Ask Anything (natural language search) links appear in the menu in that order - see screenshot attached.

   At minimum, the two search options should be adjacent, and in the order they appear on full screen. The feedback/report a problem should not be in the middle of them, as it is a completely different type of function.

4. More options for Collection Discovery images

   Hi

   In Collection Discovery, please allow more options for the images per collection:

   – Allow a separte image for the header banner of the single collection page.

   For the overview page, the picture has to have the dimensions 3:1. The same picture is used for the header of the collection.
   This leads to the pictures looking bad and often the description of the collection is hard to read.
   Please make these 2 separate pictures to be uploaded and make the default header banner a monochrome colour taken from the css.

   – Allow the pictures to be activated / deactivated for testing. At the moment I have to delete the collection picture from Alma if I want to test another picture.

5. Penalization date visible in users' loan page

   Hello! It would be great once we had read the bar code of the user, and we have the general information to do a loan or a return it will be great if there we can see the date until they can't borrow books. If not it is a problem because they ask you until when they are ban and we have to go until their profile to penalty section to see it.

6. Please add $b to the mapping of tags 100 & 700 to Primo VE facets

   The mapping of Alma tags 100 and 700 to Primo VE facets includes only $a. $b contains for both tags the dynastic number of kings, popes and high nobility. Without the addition of $b it is impossible to distinguish for example the English kings $a Charles $b I and $a Charles $b II or popes $a John $b XXII and $a John $b XXIII

   Therefor, we ask to add 100 $b and 700$b to facet values

7. Add 007 to MARC control identifiers for display and search normalization

   This would enable normalization rules to target specific resource types.

   In cases where MARC data may differ based on current practices (MARC 245 $c: Side B titles vs. Statement of Responsibility), we would be able to differentiate records that may contain uniquely catalogued data.

8. FRBR generic: make display of the generic record customizable

   We use FRBR generic (in Primo VE) because we deem FRBR preferred to be too confusing for our patrons.

   We can't fix the duplicate display of contributors' names.

   Example:

   With the 'Generic record' option enabled, when conducting a search in Primo, in the list of results for a FRBR group, you will see a very generic record which is hardcoded and cannot be modified. This record will contain work-level metadata and will serve as a placeholder for the group. It won't include the data and functionality that is relevant to a specific record, only indicating that multiple versions of the title have been found. The generic FRBR display consists of :

   The first row - as per View configuration.

   The second row is hard coded to display the fields - display/creator and display/contributor.

   ...The current design of Primo is to always display creator and contributor in the 2nd line of the FRBR record if the generic record is selected. If you want to remove the contributor from the generic record, the next step is to pursue this as an enhancement.

9. Apply the Primo NDE color theme to Primo Research Assistant

   In the Primo NDE interface, the selected UI color theme is not applied to the Primo Research Assistant (RA).

   Even when a custom theme color is configured for the NDE view (e.g., orange), several RA interface elements still appear in the default blue color, such as:
   - the AI stars icon
   - the "Start a new topic" button
   - navigation arrows in the RA interface.

   According to Clarivate support, this behavior is expected because the RA interface is controlled by CDI rather than Alma customizations.

   Expected behavior: The selected NDE UI color theme should also apply to the Primo Research Assistant interface, so that RA elements follow the same theme as the rest of Primo.

   Benefit: This would ensure visual consistency and institutional branding alignment across the entire Primo interface, including the Research Assistant.

10. Calculate and display physical availability on brief display for CDI records

    For Primo VE/NDE, please calculate and display the physical availability on the brief display for CDI records.

    Currently, in the results page, many records that are print plus online show only their online holdings in the results page for the brief records.

    When a user opens one of these records, only then are the physical holdings calculated and displayed. Then when the user goes back to the results page, the physical holdings are now displayed in the brief record, but only after they have viewed the full record, not before.

    This is an inconsistent user experience which is likely to cause confusion.

    Consistently displaying the physical availability alongside the online availability on the initial results page at the brief record level, instead of only the online availability, would create a more consistent user experience as users review potential relevant records.

    For larger libraries, it would be helpful to have a Campus facet, as a superstructure to the Libraries facet (which can be very long). Unfortunately, this cannot currently be created as a local facet.

12. Make the Availability indicator for consortia match what was in Primo BO

    We have has several users report in a week that they are confused by the lack of accuracy in the availability indicator in Primo VE. 13. Make the Resource Recommender Banner fit the length of the resource description

    The banner description text is truncated in the first line, making the display of the description dependent on its length and even shorter when viewed on mobile devices. It would be great if the height of the banner would auto-adjust to show all the text.

14. Do not interpret words in phrase searches as Boolean operators

    At ETH Library, we use UDK classification. The UDK notations are always in capital letters, and some contain words as “AND” or German “UND”. “AND” and “UND” are defined as Boolean operators in our Primo VE. This leads to the following problem: when a user clicks on an UDK notation that contains such a word (e.g. on “PFLANZEN + BÄUME + BLUMEN (MOTIVE IN KUNST, LITERATUR UND FILM)” in this record: https://eth.swisscovery.slsp.ch/permalink/41SLSP_ETH/lshl64/alma990015558430205503), a search for “subject equals exact phrase” in the advanced search is triggered. Although a phrase search is performed, the word UND is interpreted as a Boolean operator, and therefore the search returns 0 results.
    We think that the search in Primo VE should be improved so that no word in a phrase search is interpreted as Boolean operator. Since it is not possible for a phrase to contain a Boolean operator, the current search behavior is a bug and should be fixed.

    At ETH Library, we use UDK classification. 15. Journal search>Browse by categories : allow indexing of Unimarc journals (PrimoVE)

    Currently, only journals described in Marc21 are indexed by subject in Journal Search.
    The Unimarc community is now large in Alma/PrimoVE, and the Browse by Categories function would be useful if it took into account all formats.
    The idea would be to allow indexing of journals described in Unimarc, which have Rameau/LC subject fields in 60X and LCC field in 680.

18. Add a search results permalink to the New UI results page

    When we do searches in Primo for patrons, we often want to be able to send them to a list of results, rather than a specific item.

    There is a jquery customization the classic UI created by Western Washington University at https://www.orbiscascade.org/blog/9/?bid=121

    However, that customization does not work on the new UI, and requires users to be able to create a SQL database to store redirects, and to store files on a local server.

    Ideally, search results permalink functionality could be built into Primo's New UI.

    The attached screenshot shows the WWU search results permalink in action.

19. Use of initial articles in title starts with searches in Primo Advanced Search

    Primo is currently unable to adequately accommodate initial articles (a, an, the etc.) when doing a title starts with search in Advanced Search.

    The first title field that appears in the sort section of the PNX is used as the title that is matched against when doing a title starts with search but this leads to different outcomes depending on whether the records are indexed from PCI or Alma:

    When the title field in the sort section of the PNX is created from Alma the default behaviour is to strip the initial article
    When the title field in the sort section of the PNX is created from a PCI record the default behaviour appears to be to retain the initial article

    This means that users cannot enter a title into this field that will accurately retrieve both PCI and Alma records as some titles start with an intial article and others do not. If the Alma records are adjusted so that the initial article is included then they will not sort correctly when sorting by title and users who fail to enter the initial article will not find the title they are looking for.

    Primo should allow users to enter titles into the title starts with search box and it should retrieve all results that match the search terms regardless of whether the user has entered the initial article or not. Users should not be expected to enter titles with an initial article and then to do a separate search for titles without the initial article to ensure they have a complete set of results.

    Primo is currently unable to adequately accommodate initial articles (a, an, the etc.) when doing a title starts with search in Advanced Search.

    The first title field that appears in the sort section of the PNX is used as the title that is matched against when doing a title starts with search but this leads to different outcomes depending on whether the records are indexed from PCI or Alma:

20. Drag/drop results facets

    We would like to be able to let our users personalize their search experience by dragging and dropping results facets into different positions in the list. For example, our first facet is Show Only. If a user wanted to see Material Type or Publication Date first, they could simply drag one of those facets to the top of the list. Making those choices persistent through a session and/or through their own personal account would be even better.
