Please expand the volume of Internal note fields to the Physical Item Editor
Our library has more than three kinds of information need to be recorded in the internal note field, such as property number, new books statues notes, compensation books notes and so on.
Hope is could add more, or became expandable let staff to select numbers of fields they needed.122 votes -
Add warning for active title-level-requests when relinking or deleting holding records or items
When relinking holdings and items to new bib records or deleting holdings or items, requests can get lost. This is the case if they are on the titel level instead of on the item level.
(Cf. https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/Physical_Resource_Management/015_Managing_Physical_Resources#Relinking_Items_to_Another_Bibliographic_Record)Staff with the role Cataloger Extended or similar roles which allow for relinking and deleting of records, holdings, and items, would benefit from a warning that an active request is present on the title level (e.g. a pop-up) before a holding record or item is relinked or deleted.

Changing Holdings or Relinking Item is Possible Only in User Role Scope for SOURCE library
At present staff can move items from a library they don’t have a user role for, to a library they do have a user role for. For example, staff could move an item from the Rare Book Collection holding in one library to a Withdrawn holding in another library if they have the user role for the latter.
In the May 2021 release changing holdings for an item or relinking an item to a bibliographic record required the TARGET library to be within the scope of the user role. This prevents moving item or changing holdings for an item if…

Generate accession number by typing directly in field 852
Generation an accession number in 852$$h or $$j can only be done by using the menu (Tools -> MARC21 holdings -> generate accession number), or by keyboard shortcut (ctrl+schift+A) in the new MDE.
Even though the keyboard shortcut saves some clicks, we would like to type the prefix directly in field 852, followed by a character like # for example, that would indicate to Alma to generate the sequence number after saving the holding record.Example : 852 $$b library $$c location $$h RIA #
-> after saving the record :
852 $$b library $$c location $$h RIA 6785If…

Open Predicted Items feature in MDE should bring in the Item Policy value from the previous item
The feature of Open Predicted Items in MDE cannot bring in the Item Policy as it does for the Material Type, which is inherited well from the previous item.

Improve import profiles to create multiple holdings
The import profiles to load bibliographic records and attach holdings and items are currently limited to only ONE holdings record per bibliographic record. We would like the ability to create multiple holdings records, one for each distinctive call number. After loading records, if we have multiple copies it is manual work to create new holdings records when the holdings have all been merged into one.

Item Sequences Configuration: "Set Next Sequence Value"
It is currently not possible to change the sequence value to a lower one --> error message: "The new sequence value must be greater than the current value."
In order to achieve the desired result, you then have to delete the counter and set it up again.
Please change this behavior! Thanks in advance!39 votes -
Item Sequences Configuration: import option
In the area of the "Patron/User Groups" there is already an import option (Excel file) for the configuration table.
Please provide the same feature for the Item Sequences configuration table.
Since our counters contain the year and always have to start counting with 1, we have to change this table every year. Due to our sublibraries we have more than 50 active counters.55 votes -
The ability to sort the "List of Items" by "Copy ID" or "Item Call Number"
Adding "Copy ID" and "Item Call Number" to the "Sort routine" in the "List of Items would be very helpful for us. We catalog various types of equipment to loan out to students. The equipment has a Permanent Call Number which designates the type of equipment and where the equipment is from using a code. Each piece of equipment belonging to that bibliographic record has an item call number so being able to sort by item call number or copy ID would make our life easier. Thank you.

Permanent Call Number in Physical Item Editor
It would be extremely useful if we could edit the permanent call number in the physical item editor the same way we can edit the permanent location. This information is an holding's element in many libraries.
Otherwise, after receiving the orders, we need to edit both the physical item and the holding after cataloging and before scanning the items to put them on the shelves.. This is tedious and prone to errors.23 votes -
Separate the ability to delete holdings and items so they depend on different privileges and roles.
Currently, the ability to delete holdings with no inventory and to withdraw items is controlled by the same user role and privilege. 'Physical Inventory Operator Extended' role, 'Physical Inventory Delete' privelege.
This idea proposes to separate those functions into 2 roles:
one will be able to delete empty holdings records (and may be assigned to a broader population of users)
and the other (the 'extended' role) will be able to withdraw items - which is considered a more sensitive action.
This idea was edited by the Alma product team for clarity, see original phrasing below

Managing Collections - more options for searching and display
In the Collection Resource Editor (Alma) - it would be really useful to have greater flexibility for searching within a collection. Can we have the option to search by MMS Id and keyword? At the moment only Title and Publisher are available.
This would be really useful when you don't know the specific title/publisher you are looking for - so you want to do a keyword search within the collection to browse. Also if you know the specific MMD id that would be useful too.

Limit use of material types by specific library
The list of material types used across our consortium is very long. Even though we have turned off those that we don't use, we still have a list of about 65. For most of our libraries, this is overkill, as locations like our Chemistry library only use 4 or 5 at most. Catalogers have to use the full list, which increases the chance of confusion or clicking on the wrong thing for even straightforward cataloging. I want to be able to restrict the material types that can be used at any particular library. This was a feature of another ILS…

Seperate the price and currency in Item's inventory price
The field Inventory price field in physical item contains price and currency while Alma copies price from POL to item. Please seperate the currency into anohter field and make sure the price field is numeric. In this way, the Inventory price field can be counted directly.

Add suppress functionality to context menu in list of holdings
When a staff member is looking at a list of holdings for a physical title, the right-click context menu / actions (ellipsis) menu should include a function to suppress holding.
It's inefficient to have to enter the MDE to complete this action. It's inefficient to have to run a job for just a few holdings at a time.

Multiple Quick-Cataloging Templates
Scenario:
There are multiple workflows and purposes for which the Quick Cataloging interface is used. For example, in course reserves, staff frequently need to create records for different resource formats beyond book and article. Staff at the circulation desks need to create records any time an item brought to the desk is not found in Alma, and these resources can take any form - from sound recordings on CD to equipment like laptop chargers.Problem:
Not all of these materials fit the current “book” and “article” templates provided for Quick Cataloging. To enable efficient use of the Quick Cataloging feature,…165 votes -
Link licenses to physical resources
Allow physical resources to have an attached license similar to electronic resources.
For example, a DVD may have specific educational and/or screening rights that we would like to save as a license and link to the DVD.

Ignore call number prefix ($$k) in BROWSE SHELFLIST in Alma
Alma's Browse Shelflist function includes the call number prefix (holdings record field 852 $$k) when generating the browse list. At the University at Buffalo, we use that prefix for oversize volumes, and for a variety of other sub-locations, designations and shelving areas.
As a result, any holdings with a prefix ($$k) does not show up alongside holdings in the same call number range, essentially hiding many titles from staff who seek to browse the shelf list.
An advanced search for specific library holdings, permanent call number type, and permanent call number does not remedy this issue, as it does not…

Add Storage Location ID to Physical Items Search brief results
We'd like to start using the Storage ID field to track inventory shelved in storage locations. It would be very helpful if this field would display in the Physical Items brief results list, so that operators know right away that the item is in a storage location. Unfortunately, it does not appear to be a field that has been added yet. Please can you add this field to the Physical Items brief results list.

Permanent collections
Colecciones permanentes:
Permanent collections:
If a title has all its items assigned to a permanent collection of lost, missing, discarded documents, etc. , the Alma system must prevent the registry from being recovered and viewed through Primo, so…93 votes
