Electronic Material Types - Need for more options.
Unlike the Physical Item Material Types, Electronic Material Types are limited because they are hardcoded. However, the list that is provided by Ex Libris does not give us enough granularity. For instance, at our institution, we have senior theses that are deposited into our institutional repository. However, when you create the portfolio and select the Electronic Material Type there is no option for either “Bachelor’s Thesis” or a generic “Thesis”. Instead, they only provide “Dissertation” or “Master Thesis” there is no option for a Bachelor’s of Senior project. Therefore, we are forced to select Book which is inaccurate.
This would help patrons who are specifically looking for Senior projects or Senior Theses in the catalog locate them. When patrons see “book” they might simply look over. Also, by either adding a generic Theses option or allowing more options for the Electronic Material Type will allow catalogers to accurately record information and, thus, making their catalogs accurate.
Electronic Material Types should have more flexibility similar to the Physical Material Type. Institutions should be able to add to the list based on the needs of that institution’s collection. Or there should be a free-text box beside the already hardcoded Electronic Material Type for catalogers/library staff to be able to correctly identify the material type for a particular resource. Too, by adding more options, catalogers/Library staff can accurately run reports on Electronic Material Types and this can aid in clean-up projects, etc.
With that in mind, I’m asking Ex Libris to consider adding more Electronic Material Types such as “Bachelor’s Thesis” or “Thesis” and consider the idea of allowing more granularity or not having them hardcoded.

There are numerous ancient books in our collection which are differ from common books in many aspects. Therefore, we suggest adding “ancient book” as a new material type to the portfolio. This addition would greatly facilitate our work. Thank you!

Writing a thesis is the most difficult thing that can be for me, It is good that there is an opportunity to make this work easier. Because I am very nervous about the thesis and hardly sleep at night. My parents pay for my education, so I have to meet their expectations and get a diploma. So, I found guys who are engaged in online writing https://textroyal.com/writing-jobs and I hope that they will help write my thesis and we will do it together. There are very good reviews from students who received their orders, so I am sure that together we will be able to write a great thesis.

Hi Support,
Currently, there is no option for "Standard" as an Electronic Material Type, if we can add the option by ourself will be useful.

We have a collection that mainly consists of newsletters. But the portfolio material type does not contain "newsletter". Please expand portfolio materials type to include "newsletter"

Currently there is no option for PhD thesis as an Electronic Material Type, only Masters and dissertation, Doctoral type would be a useful addition.

Hi there,
At the moment, when creating or editing a portfolio for an artcile, it is not possible to precise that it's an article's portfolio (you can precise that it's a book, map, journal, dissertation, proceeding...).
We would like to add "articles" in Electronic Portfolio Editor > electronic material type's field.
Please see screenshot attached for illustration.
Best regards,
Ariane
