Display perpetual coverage dates where no other coverage provided
We now have the ability to log current access dates and perpetual access dates on a portfolio. However there is no way to display the perpetual access dates in Alma or Primo unless looking at the coverage tab of the portfolio.
It would be good if there was an option to use the perpetual coverage dates as our display dates either by having an additional option for the local, global, local and global section, or just displaying those dates if local only is selected and there is nothing in the local section.
We have titles that we had current and perpetual coverage for , now publication has ceased and we only have access to our perpetual coverage. For this to display in Alma and Primo we have to update the local coverage dates to match our perpetual coverage dates.

Thanks Gill for the extra information!
While the perpetual dates are not currently reflected in Primo, there is an option in Alma to view the perpetual access dates (if the access type defined on the resource is 'perpetual' or 'current and perpetual') - in this case you should see both sets of dates in the e-portfolio search (see the screenshot attached), are there other places in Alma where you would want to see those dates? -

For clarification - when cancelling a title we generally add the perpetual access dates to the portfolio in addition to the local or global dates. However, when the current access comes to an end we then have to go back to the portfolio and move the perpetual dates to the local field in order for them to display. If we just remove the local dates then nothing displays. So while having the perpetual access dates as an option is useful as a placeholder nothing happens automatically.
It would be a lot easier to be able to use a radio button for example to change the local to perpetual dates, in the same way that we can with the global/local dates. Another option could be to add this to a calendar in the same way that we can with deactivation of a portfolio, so that at the beginning of the time period chosen the perpetual access dates would show instead of local/global -
Dear community,
thank you for this idea. In order for us to better understand the request, could you share a specific example of a portfolio - what is defined on the portfolio, what are the currently displayed dates and what would you like to see instead.Thank you,
Liza -

I would really like to see both displayed: Global/Local dates and Perpetual Dates (if used) - not quite the same as the either/or suggestion above. Right now, when a librarian wants to weed print they need to either: go into portfolio records individually; do an Extended Export and view the Excel file. It would be so useful for that information to be shown right in Primo and in Alma search results - the Perpetual Date fields would be a more effective tool.
