Overlap Analysis: Allow comparing unactivated collection to all activated collection
Use case: we consider subscribing to a new database but want to know how it overlaps with ALL of collections we have access.
Current Problems:
Set Comparison
1. The source collection must be activated
2. Have to select ALL target collections by hand
Selected Titles:
1. Kinda works BUT it DOES NOT look at coverage info
tl;dr: please implement something similar to Overlap Analysis in SerSol's ClientCenter.

Hi All,
Is there an easy way to compare all of our activated e-resource holdings in our Alma Institution Zone against one database we don’t have activated to determine overlap and unique titles?
I’ve been looking in the “Overlap and Collection Analysis” section and it requires the selection of individual collections for the target and source sets. It would be quite laborious to manually select all collections we have activated.
There’s also no clear explanation of what a “source electronic collection” vs. “target electronic collections” mean. Could anyone clarify this?
Also, is it possible run a comparison between two collections that we don’t have activated? I ask because I don’t see a Community Zone option under “Source Electronic Collection.”
I looked in the Knowledge Center and didn’t find answers to these questions in this article:

Thanks in advance.

This functionality was introduced in the new Overlap Analysis tool that was released in March 2022 Alma Release. In the new Overlap Analysis tool, e.collections from the Community Zone can be selected for comparison.

This would be a great functionality. Hope it can be implemented!

I would strongly support changes to the overlap analysis for a set functionality that address both problems mentioned.
Solving problem 1 would enable more meaningful analysis of collections we don’t currently have against our activated e-resource collections. The Knowledge Center article suggests using the 'selected tiles' option ‘For cases where you want to compare all of your activated electronic resource holdings against a non-active database’. However, as you mention, this does not consider coverage date information. Being able to select a non-active community zone collection as the source electronic collection for a set comparison overlap analysis would be much more useful than using the selected titles option. In many cases, the coverage date information and the identification of partial overlap or complete overlap in the resulting overlap analysis reports is important to be able to use the overlap analysis to make informed decisions. Also, there might be cases where we want to compare a non-activated collection with just one or a few particular activated collections, which we can’t do using the selected titles option.
Solving problem 2 would make the set comparison overlap analysis process more efficient. While sometimes we might want to compare the source collection with just a few target collections, often we want to compare against our entire collection and this is currently a very tedious manual process.
