Add a public note field in interface record
From time to time, a vendor interface goes down temporarily. While we follow the access issue up with the vendor, we add a public note for our students and staff indicating that the interface is temporarily down. The issue is that often we have many electronic collections with the same interface, and therefore must add a public note to each and every electronic collection that uses the affected interface, and then remove all of the notes once access is restored.
Since all of these electronic collections link back to a single interface, it would be great if there were a field in the interface screen to add a public note about temporary interface unavailability that would appear in the discovery layer for all eresources (portfolios) in the electronic collections linked to that interface.
This would improve the process by significantly reducing the time it takes to add/remove public notes to multiple electronic collections - and also reduce human errors when a public note for a particular electronic collection is missed.

Alma May release includes the ability to Batch Update Electronic Collection Attributes - with this new functionality in place the use cases described in this Idea can be fulfilled - for example adding public note to a set of electronic collections

I agree with all of the comments below. Further, this proposed solution is a significant number more steps than having the opportunity to place and remove a single note for everything associated with the same interface.

I think this idea has been marked "Already Supported" prematurely. The E-Collection Quick Update app only permits the editing of service-level note fields. We need the ability to edit collection-level note fields. This is especially important for electronic collections of type Database--they have no service, so the E-Collection Quick Update app currently cannot be used to update their notes in bulk. In order for the E-Collection Quick Update app to be used in the manner requested, it must be able to edit collection-level notes as well.

We also would like the ability to be able to set messages and temporary unavailability notices for resources at an interface level.
As an example, if we experience downtime for maintenance with ProQuest or ScienceDirect we have over 20 different collections affected for either.
Currently there is a field to note this downtime in the Service but manually adding and removing the temporary downtime notice in each of the collection's service for these resources is time consuming and labour intensive.
In these instances, the collections all use the same Interface and we would like to be able to, at the interface level, set a status which would affect all collections with that Interface.

I see this is in the NERS (ID 5626). Will attempt to swing a vote for it
