  1. Resource Request Monitoring - partner information missing for Lending requests on hold

When a Lending request is put on hold, the partner information is not visible in the Resource Request Monitoring list. This makes it impossible to check which place in the queue a lending request has.
We would like the Requester field to to display partner information and be added to lending requests in the Resource Request Monitoring display.

    Please see attachment for screenshots.

  2. SIP2 over https

SIP2 further development: To provide ability to develop more versatile and agile self-service concepts and processes for the staff, it would be useful to take into use ‘SIP2 over HTTPS’ in Alma. The basic message between library automation and Alma would still be in accordance with the standard 3M/NISO, but message pairs would be encapsulated in XML.

  3. Include the full physical item's History - Item Changes in analytics

Analytics captures a Physical Item's Modified By and Modification Date, however this only tracks the most recent change to an item, and it does not describe the change made.

I'm hoping Analytics can be expanded to include all of the detail that can be found on the item's History - Item Changes report within Alma, including:

    *Date
    *Operator
    *Field Name
    *Old Value
    *New Value

We are closing this request as this is data that can be found in Alma and is very large which would demand high effort which can be utilized for more useful developments.

  4. Ability to report all MARC tags and subfields in bibliographic, holdings and authority records

I can no longer vote for the originally posted idea with this title, as it has been marked as "Already supported"

I would, however, argue that creating sets in Alma and MARC export capability is NOT the same as reporting capability. Please reconsider this suggestion.

We need this functionality in ANALYTICS in order incorporate the data (i.e. to append notes from the holding record to a shelf list report, or to limit results by something in the fixed fields) efficiently into our reports.

  5. Change Repository Search "Contains" to drop-down to enable searching "Contains Phrase", "Starts With", and "Equals"

In the repository search simple search, the only search operator you can use when searching available indexes is contains (e.g., FIND all titles WHERE title CONTAINS ____.

We would like to request that the CONTAINS operator be turned into an advanced-style dropdown menu to enable searches like this:

FIND all titles WHERE title CONTAINS PHRASE ____
FIND all titles WHERE title STARTS WITH ____
FIND all titles WHERE title EQUALS _____

In many cases, an advanced search is not required, it is simply the contains operator that needs to be modified, and performing an advanced search just to modify the…

  6. Add "Print Slip Report" action to the "Resource Request Monitoring" screen

The Print Slip Report function is currently available from the "Pick Up Requested Resources" and "Resource Sharing Lending Requests Task List" screens. But when a hold is placed on an item that is checked out, the returning item is automatically placed on hold and the request bypasses the "Pick Up Requested Resources" screen and shows up on the "Resource Request Monitoring" screen as "On Hold Shelf". But the Print Slip Report is not available here. It does need to be available here, as well.

"Print Slip Report" is a different action than "Print Slip." The Print Slip Report is a…

    Hi,

The request monitor page is not intended to be the routine working space, but rather be an interface that allows searching and fining specific requests to query about their status, and run some specific actions (such as cancel). The routine work on the requests list is intended to be done via the task lists.

    Thanks,

  7. Analytics report for titles daily

I would like to have the possibility of knowing the updated amount of titles daily. Alma currently updates that information only every 28 days. This does not allow having statistics updated until the previous day.

  8. Alma set from Alma Analytics - allow for creation of a Logical set

Currently it's possible to create a set directly from Analytics, but the end result is an itemised set. This functionality is great for skipping a few steps in exporting a file from Analytics, but fails to take advantage of the dynamic nature of daily Analytics updates. To do that, we need the option to create a Logical set which is tied to an Analytics report.
Use case: We have three Analytics reports for three Publishing Profiles for specific local License Terms, which are sent to an external Resource Sharing provider (RapidILL). We cannot create these sets in Alma due to…

  9. Improve Booleian searching in repository by including 'not' option

Currently there is no option to use a 'not' function in a repository search, there is only 'and' & 'or'. The ability to exclude certain records from a search is vital to enable correct records to be isolated for editing/updating. Not having the 'not' option makes it very difficult to narrow down results.

In addition to our Product Manager Moshe Shechter’s comments on this idea of a few months back, we would like to add the following:
Alma’s search indexes have been designed and built to provide a whole new set of possibilities for searching for inventory based on the full set of bibliographic details and indexes. As a result of this combined enriched bibliographic and inventory search index, certain queries which retrieve the bibliographic titles but also use inventory indexes, can lead to non-intuitive results when used in conjunction with NOT operations. An example of this is the search for titles that don’t have items in library A. If a title has items in library B and in library A, it will still be retrieved. This is a correct result as there is an item that matched the search query, but it is not intuitive to the staff user.

    Ex Libris will…

  10. Allow inventory to be linked to multiple licenses

We would like inventory to be linked to multiple licenses. Some resources are licensed with two entities...the content provider and the access provider. An example of this is APA. If we choose to have our APA content hosted by another provider (which is an option), we must have a license with both APA (content provider) and the access provider.

Currently, we need to choose only one license to link the inventory to. Which one do we choose?

    Dear Community,

Thank you for submitting this idea.

Per Alma module it is possible to link one license for a portfolio / collection.

Changing this module is complicated and raises questions such as what to display in discovery and more.

We will not be doing this for now.

In order for a linkchecker to work properly it actually needs to run on the client side as links to publishers interfaces are restricted to IP ranges of the library.
Having a linkchecker run on the server side will result in links that will be presented with publisher’s login pages and will not yield the expected results of a linkchecker.
Due to the above Alma support for linkchecker is through integration with external client based linkChecker applications – read more about here:

  12. Analytics updates for a full date (Change the time for updates)

Analytics doesnt have the updated information for our institution at the end of the day, we need to wait another day to get the info updated for that day, we want that every intitution can have their own update time for data.

    Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for your request to allow scheduling the analytics data refresh per institution. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate this request as we run an ETL at the same time for all the institutions in a specific data center. It is impossible to configure different run times per institution or even per instance. Additionally, we cannot predict the duration of the run-time in advance, which could take anywhere from a few hours to 10 hours.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please refer to our online documentation for more information.

  13. Improve publishing to PubMed to give a single coverage statement for all portfolios active for the same title

The Publish to PubMed publishing profile outputs an xml file giving details of ejournal coverage per title. Where we have multiple active portfolios for a title, the output contains a set of "or" queries with the coverage for each portfolio, and these often overlap or duplicate each other. NLM will no longer accept files with these duplications and overlapping coverage statements and instead require a single coverage statement for each ISSN in the file.

Please add to the publishing profile the option to merge the various coverage statements to give a single start and end date per title that reflects…

NLM PubMed Library LinkOut tools supports placing the library link resolver icon on every PubMed citation therefore PubMed no longer supports uploading the library holdings to PubMed.

For more information about how to setup PubMed Outside Tool to place a link on every PubMed record please see: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK3803/#related.Outside_Tool.

Due to the above Publishing to PubMed is deprecated and will not include any improvements.

  14. Analytics - column properties

Let the default for Column Format / Value Suppression be set as "Repeat" instead of "Suppress" for most data points. I often export my results to Excel and have to go into each data point to set it to Repeat. Having this as a default setting (or even a default toggle) would be helpful.

Certain aspects of the OBI (Oracle Business Intelligence) which is used by Alma Analytics can be changed from the default as it is supplied with Alma. Certain aspects however remain in the default state as supplied, and will not be changed as supplied with Alma Analytics. For various technical reasons beyond the scope of an Ideas Exchange answer the default column format value will not be changed from “suppress” to “repeat”.

  15. Failsafe links to databases if/when Direct Linking fails

When we were a Serials Solutions customer and we used Summon discovery, we also used Direct Linking. What was great about Summon was that it would provide a pane at the top of the screen after linking to full-text content that would provide a way to see all the database targets on the 360 Link page. See attached image.

This same feature would be highly desirable in Primo and is one of the main reasons why we do not currently use Direct Linking. Currently, if the full-text fails to load for the default target, there is no way to see…

  17. Setting to default when only one Loan Period Policy

When placing a request for an item with only one Loan Period Policy, It would be more intuitive and friendly if it would be the default option so the patron shouldn't have to open the drop down and choose the only available option.

Setting the default Loan Period Policy would mean that the request must be fulfilled with that loan policy. That would mean that if there is a change in the items’ policy the request will be automatically cancelled. This may not be a desirable result.

If the patron really wants the request to be fulfilled only with the selected loan policy, the patron is expected to explicitly select that.

  18. Digital itemized sets

Currently it is impossible to create an itemized set of digital titles/representations/files as the option of Rep ID header is not recognized by the system.

  19. "Request re-indexing" option for withdrawn items

There is a re-occurring indexing error in Alma when withdrawing items, where these items sometimes do not disappear from the Alma instance and a re-indexing job must be performed to correct it. These items often cannot be re-activated from "Manage deleted repository" and can't be interacted with. (See attachment)

Ideally, it should be possible to request a re-indexing of the Alma-instance directly in Alma. This could be for a single record or the instance as a whole.

  20. Reporting on historical location changes

Analytics should allow users to run reports on historical location changes e.g. identify items that were moved from Branch A to Branch B or different locations in the same branch. This information is visible in the Item history tab; it should be made available for management reports.

    Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for submitting your suggestion. After careful review, we have determined that this request necessitates an event in Alma for a permanent location change, before it can be incorporated into our analytics. However, considering the current level of support for this idea, we regret to inform you that we have decided to close it.
