Customize the amount of holdings displayed in the brief results
Currently, only 5 holdings are displayed in the "Physical" tab in the brief results list in Alma. For IZs with many libraries, this is not always ideal and many clicks are necessary before getting to the complete list of holdings.
The new sortlibraryby_relevance parameter helps but doesn't solve all issues.
Therefore, we'd like to ask to implement a functionality similar to what can be done for the amount of records to be displayed in the results list (at the moment, one can choose between 10/20/50) so that for example staff users can choose whether they want to see 5, 10 or 15 holdings displayed in the brief results in Alma.

Hi Sabina and all,
I’d like to divide my response into two parts:
1 Why we decided to limit the number of holdings displayed in search results
2 How you can easily access the full list of holdings in the Titles search new UX1 Why we limit the number of displayed holdings
When retrieving a list of titles in the search results, displaying a large number of holdings for each title requires loading a significant amount of data: not just the holdings themselves, but also related information such as item availability.
This can negatively impact page performance and response time.
To maintain a fast and smooth user experience, we therefore limit the display in the brief results to up to five holdings.
The full list of holdings remains available when focusing on a specific title.2 How to easily view the full list of holdings
With the new Titles search UX, viewing all holdings is now just one click away:
You can configure your “One-click action” when selecting the Holdings smart link in the third column (see attached).
The available options are:
- Open the Holdings section in the right pane: Displays the full list of holdings (with pagination). You can also define the sorting option, including the new “Related records last” setting. Note that the sort selection will effect the list of holdings in the search results as well.
- Open the full holdings list page: Opens the dedicated page showing the complete list of holdings (also with pagination), where you can define how many results appear per page (up to 50).
- Initiate a holdings search: Runs a holdings search directly. We believe these options provide a convenient, one-click way to navigate to the full holdings list without compromising the performance of the search results page.
For this reason, we do not plan to increase the number of holdings displayed in the brief results at this stage.Thank you for your understanding and continued collaboration!
Best regards,
Tamar
