Automatic Designated Copy ID Number Added to New Item Records
I would like the ability to set an automatic copy ID number to designate that the item is a copy "1," instead of having to put the "1" in the copy ID field every time I add an item. Of course I would also need to have the ability to easily change the automatic "1" another copy ID number if I have a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. Voyager had this ability, which saves time when processing a large number of books. Thank you.

In complete agreement with Beth, I urge a reopening and thorough reconsideration of this functionality. Its successful implementation in Sierra demonstrably improved both the efficiency and reliability of our data. The current absence of this feature in Alma represents a tangible point of vulnerability to human error that we hope you will address. Thank you for your consideration.

We'd love to see this idea reopened and reconsidered as we've had this request from our staff just this week. As they wrote ""Currently, manually entering "1" in the copy ID field for each new item is easily overlooked, and running batch jobs to correct omissions adds to our workload. Implementing auto-population would significantly reduce initial data entry time and minimize the need for monthly report reviews and subsequent corrections." Thanks for considering.
