How can we improve Alma?

Alma licences are currently associated with OpenAthens usernames to support external authentication. We have unfortunately experienced a service outage at OpenAthens, meaning staff were unable to access Alma or offer any service to users.
Is it possible to have an alternative login method for the licensed Alma users, to deal with situations like this?

This is not a replacement login rather an alternative solution if our primary method of logging in is temporary inaccessible.

    Thank you for your email. Can I just clarify how this would work.

    Would we create these through Add Use>Staff in Alma?
    How many could we create (currently we have 100 staff logins and around 60 libraries)?
    You mention activating these accounts when there was an outage but how could we do this if we cannot get access to Alma? Or do you mean because we have already created them we could just share the logins if we need them (this would be our preference)?
    Is this something that would be done by Alma admins?
    Is there a set time we would need to wait until we activated these accounts, e.g. the service was unavailable for more than 5, 15, 30 minutes, etc?

    If you could provide a bit more detail on this that would be great.

    Hi,

    Please do note that you can create Alma internal user accounts with their passwords managed in Alma. Creating a limited number of these accounts will enable you to activate them when there is an outage of the IdP service, allowing library work to continue using these accounts.
