Item checked out to another patron
When you check out an item to another patron, and you get the message that the item is already checked out to someone else, do you want to override?, make it so that when you select override, the item is removed from the user's record, and any fines waived. Now, the way it's set up, you have to stop what you're doing, and either backdate-checkin the item or check in the item and waive fines, and THEN complete the transaction with your current user. This is a huge waste of time. The item was almost always returned on time, and it was staff error that left it on the previous user's account.

Are you familiar with the Fulfillment Configuration 'Block Preferences' option ? This allows to configure system behavior in various situations. One of them is 'Item is currently on loan by another patron'. The 'Handle Automatically' option is intended to support the workflow you seem to be describing.
