Update inventory import profile: shelf ready option
For shelf ready materials the update inventory import profile updates the item records with barcode numbers. There is also an option to receive the item with the import profile.
But the item must still be scanned in and marked as done in Acquisitions, Post-receiving processing, Scan. Or the item must be received manually in Acquisitions, Receiving and Processing, Receive. After either step, the item is placed in transit to the circulation desk for shelving. We would like to skip this manual step. In the update inventory import profile we would like the option to mark the items as received and shelf ready which would immediately place the items in transit to the circulations desk for shelving. Basically we want to get the materials out of technical services and onto the shelves as quickly and efficiently as possible. (I'm uploading a screenshot of the proposed setting in the update inventory import profile.)

Cautionary note: if a system like this is used, it will frequently place items In Transit to circulation before they have actually arrived at the library. If an order is lost in the mail or contains errors, it could cause problems. If an item does not get to circulation, there will be no record in the system saying whether the item ever arrived from the vendor.
