Patron Loans - Temporary Embargo
Boston College Libraries lend a variety of technology items to members of our community - iPads, laptops, laptop chargers, calculators, etc. These items typically circulate for 4 days or 4 hours and we have a no renewals policy. However once an item is returned we have no easy way to ensure that the same patron does not return to the desk within 5 minutes and borrow the same item or like item again. What we would like to be able to do is configure Alma so that patron x cannot borrow the same or like item within x period of time. Probably the most logical way to structure this would be to add a rule to the location TOU.
Also we would want to enable an override option for circulation operators.
The May 2018 Release includes:
You can now configure a re-loan limit, preventing patrons from re-loaning items that they have just returned.

This would be a wonderful and welcome change at the TML at least.

Yes, the Theology and Ministry Library would also like to see this implemented!

Yes, please. We have had a student manipulating the work around and has had one of our laptops for over a month! He had a woman return the laptop and then he came in to check it out himself 20 minutes later!

Iagree something better needs to be done in the way we handle the technology across the Library system.

Good idea; to be fair to all our students.

We (University of Pisa Libraries) also need a TOU rule to set an embargo to reloaning the same item to the same user: for example we have a 24h fulfillment unit with no-renewal policy and we'd like to allow the user to reloan the item returning only from the next day.
