send overdue an overdue notice within hours of overdue for items that check out for hours
Right now overdue notices are sent once a day. Many technology items check out for a couple hours and cannot have overnight checkout. Sending an overdue notice at 7am the next day does not help remind the patron to return it while fines are accruing We need a way to set up notifications for items that check out less than a day that run on a more frequent schedule than once a day.

Possible have an alert go to your phone or some other devise(e-mail) every 3 hours or for how many hours you have checked the item out until it is returned.

I agree having it go immediately after the item was overdue would be more useful for patrons. It would also be nice to be able to do something with the short term courtesy notice so instead of going out to the patron immediately after a short term item is checked out instead it would go to them 15 minutes before the item is due (I would like this to be available in SMS as well)

By having live or hourly notices for items that check out for hours instead of days, the item's circulation will be more inline with its intended use and for reserves, will be available to more patrons

they should be live or hourly so notices can be sent for limited time items (reserves).

For short loans, such as reserves, study room keys, equipment, &c., that are borrowed for hours instead of days, it would be nice to be able to have courtesy notices generated, for example 15 minutes before the item is due, and overdue notices begin to be generated 30 minutes, 1 hour, &c., after the item is due.
