1. Alma should work on Mac Safari

   Currently, the Mac OS Safari browser is not supported for Alma (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/010Getting_Started/050Alma_User_Interface_–_General_Information/010Browser_Requirements)

   Furthermore, until the February 2018 release, Safari has successfully worked in Alma without problem, going back at least until late 2014. However, with the February 2018 release, you now get the endless spinning blue line when loading several pages, such as the User search results screen.

2. Prevent 9xx local fields from being saved to Community Zone (CZ) records

   There is a known issue of some sites not adhering to the Community Zone (CZ) Contribution Guidelines and Community Catalog Standards.
   An example of this is the addition of local 9xx fields to CZ records.
   Ex Libris already uses a normalization routine to validate CZ records which are changed by customers.
   However, this routine does not specifically prevent the addition of local 9xx fields, even though the guidelines are clear that only changes which benefit the broader community should be made.

   Use case:
   This has been a longstanding issue, but has been fixable in the Primo Back Office to an extent by using normalization rules.
   However, Ex Libris has developed the category tree for Primo Database Search by direct API call to Alma, via an Alma job which runs daily for any unsuppressed database record which has the site’s chosen dbcategory field.
   The end result is that categories appear in your category tree which belong to other customers, and we have lost autonomy over our own Primo UI.
   This would not be an issue if the category tree was developed to instead use the dbcategory PNX field or if the Alma daily job only published IZ records with the dbcategory field.
   In lieu of development which supports customers to maintain the integrity of their UI, Ex Libris should stand behind their Community Catalog standards by adding to the validation routine to prevent all 9xx local fields from being saved to CZ records.

3. Ability to assign Resource Sharing Borrowing Requests

   There is currently the ability to assign Resource Sharing Lending Requests, but not Borrowing Requests.
   This would be a useful feature- it would ensure there is no double handling across different campuses, certain requests can be escalated to a manager if they require approval, and once a request has been processed up until a certain point it can be placed back into the unassigned list until further intervention is needed.

4. Rights information in MARC records to display in Alma viewer

   1. Rights information for digital objects may be recorded in MARC fields: a. 540 (https://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bd540.html) b. 542 (https://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bd542.html) c. Possibly some other places too.    As part of Alma June release you can configure the Alma viewer to display Terms of Use and Copyright information in the Descriptive Information pane in the Alma Viewer. This information is taken from MARC fields 540 $3 $a $f $u and 542 $3 $f $u respectively. To support this new feature, two new rows were added to the Delivery Profiles Metadata table for MARC records. Enable these rows to display the Terms of Use and Copyright information.

5. Analytics Local Parameter mapping to Dublin Core fields

6. View only administrator role

   The administrator role may be helpful to get a full overview of the configuration and possibilities of Alma. However, this role can have far-reaching consequences and should not be given to anyone.
   A "View only" administrator role would be helpful for local Alma project group members to get access to the whole config, with no risk of modifying/deleting the configuration.

7. Function of generating license report

   We are trying to generate a report (either via Analytics or from a Set) of License fields in the License Terms tab (specifically the Authorized Users fields - Authorized User Definition and Local Authorized User Definition). Neither Analytics nor Sets seem to report on the individual fields - even a Tools - Export to Excel would be useful.

8. Handle Identifier support in Alma

   Alma provides limited support for permanent URLs through Handle.net (CNRI). We propose that Ex Libris provide the same level of support for Handle URLs in Alma Digital as they do with Esploro customers.

   The only documentation for producing Handle URLs in Alma is this blog entry on the Developer Network site:

   According to the article, an institution must install their own local Handle server to create and register Handle urls. Alma does not communicate with the handle server directly via its API. Instead, institutions that use Handle have to set up a FTP/SFTP site to receive the Handle URLs Alma creates and then send this file to the Handle server to write and register the ULRs with the Handle registry. In theory this process can be automated, but because the configuration in Alma does not allow an institution to specify the HS_ADMIN command, the institution has to manually modify the export file generated by Alma before sending the file to the Handle server for registration.

   Ex Libris recently started to host a handle server for Esploro customers and offered a publishing profile that streamlines the Handle ID generation and registration. Esploro users no longer have to maintain their own Handle server, and there is no need to modify an export file and then send to the handle server. This is a welcomed feature, but it only works in Esploro. This feature is not available for digital records in Alma.

   We would like to see this function and workflow available for digital records in Alma. We have opened a SF case (#00923457), and was advised to submit a Idea Exchange request, so here we are.

9. Make fine/fee text in color to stand out when a balance is owed

   It would be helpful to have a visual indicator pointing our attention to the "active balance" line when an outstanding balance is present above $0.00.

   I propose changing that field to a contrasting text color visible to color blind (i.e., orange), only when there is a balance above $0.00. This visible cue will make it very easy to identify the fine/fee balance and communicate that to our users in order to improve our communication of fees/fines to those who ignore the notifications via email.

   as of the October 2021 release, the patrons’s outstanding balance will be marked in bold red in the Manage Patron Services page if it is above 0 and the “Pay” button is visible.

10. "Select All" checkbox for In Process Items

    When changing the status of In Process Items there is no “Select All” box at the head of the column, often there are multiple copies and we want to apply the same status change to all the items on the list.

    Instead of having to check the box next to each item in a list we would like to suggest that on this page (and other pages where applicable) that a “Select All” checkbox* be added.

    *as is the case on some lists such as “Patron Loans” and “List of Items”.

    The Manage In Process Items list has a Select All check box,allowing to perform anaction on multiple rows without having to select each row.

    The Query to Patron letter functionality for Borrowing Requests in Alma has recently been reimplemented to use the standard mail configuration in Alma. By some reason an exception has been made for the "addressFrom" setting, where it instead still uses the default address for the Resource Sharing library.

    This is counter intuitive, as the addressFrom value is still configurable for the letter, only it doesn't have any effect. I'm still surprised my case (#00609529) was identified as a documentation issue and not a bug.

    If you like us has selected to not implement a separate Resource Sharing library, this also effectively prevents us from using a separate address for these letters. When switching to the new letter type, this was the feature we most looked forward to ...

    Please make this setting take effect for the Query To Patron Letter just like for any other letter.

    (If there are use cases where this would make things worse, please consider adding an general option to toggle between the two styles!)

    As of the May 2023 release, you can set the default 'sent from' email address to be different from the main library email address. When rs_use_addressfrom_letter_param (Fulfillment Configuration Menu > General > Other Settings) is set to true (default false), instead of letters being sent from the Preferred Email Address set in Fulfillment > Library Management > Contact Information, the email is sent from the letter configuration addressFrom (Configuration > General > Letters > Letters Configuration).

12. Letters Configuration page should be sortable and searchable

    I like the new Letters Configuration and Components Configuration pages; they've simplified the letter customization work I am doing for our two libraries.

    However, the Letters Configuration page is a bit too unwieldy... requiring a lot of paging and scrolling to find a specific letter.

    Please consider making this page sortable by clicking the column headers, and if it's not too difficult, maybe even searchable?

13. Add sorting option to course reserve when editing a list

    This enhancement request was lost from the Alma roadmap for over 2 years (supposed to be in the May 2013 release), but we'd like to be able to sort the contents of reading lists by common fields like title, call number, author etc.

14. In advanced Repository Search, allow the selection of multiple physical locations. within a library.

    In Advanced Search, we currently can search multiple locations only by selecting one, going back, selecting another, going back, and selecting another. Allowing the selection of multiple locations from a list would save time.

15. Add "create fee" function to Alma API

    In our future Alma installation we want to offer our users a self service function to purchase interloan access data. Since there's no possibility to integrate this functionality in Alma, we must develop a separate application for this purpose.

    However a fee for the purchasing user has to be created in Alma via the Alma API. Unfortunately there's no such API function ("create fee") available up to now.

    Please implement such a function!

17. Customisation of Alma patron deposits page

    We would like to have the ability to customise the Alma patron deposits page, including:
    - Logo + other branding elements eg. footer with University/Library details, link to privacy policy etc.
    - Access to the landing page html to include deposit instructions and/or embed video tutorials
    - Option to add links to help, contacts, policies for patron deposit
    - Option to include a chat widget
    - Css styling
    - Sign in options to mimic Primo (in our case we might want to use SAML + Alma login)

18. Copy POL data to new POL with different order line type

    We still experience issues when a POL is created with the 'wrong' POL type / inventory type (e.g., a print POL is created but e-inventory needs to be attached) - these 'incorrect' POLs must be deleted and recreated manually. There are other ideas out there to make POL types and architecture more flexible, such as this one:

    In the comments of that request, Ex Libris indicates that allowing the kind of flexibility to 'change' a POL order line type - or attach different types of inventory to it - would cause database conflicts.

    If that is still the case, one other possible way of saving manual effort when an incorrect POL type is used on a POL is to enable a one-click 'copy to new POL' function that copies all of the data from an existing POL that is common to all POLs - vendor, price, fund, notes, etc. - and puts it into a new POL, but allows you to change the POL type for the copied POL. So you could copy your physical one-time POL data to an electronic one-time POL, and delete the physical POL if necessary.

    This would solve a couple of different use cases:
    -Fixing migration issues (especially if you could run in batch, e.g., take all of these physical one-time POLs and make new POLs out of their data that are electronic one-time POLs)
    -Fixing an error made during the ordering process (e.g., a print POL type was created and data filled out, but the inventory actually turned out to be electronic instead of print)

    We still experience issues when a POL is created with the 'wrong' POL type / inventory type (e.g., a print POL is created but e-inventory needs to be attached) - these 'incorrect' POLs must be deleted and recreated manually. There are other ideas out there to make POL types and architecture more flexible, such as this one:

    The following fields were added to Funds Expenditure > PO License:
    Licensor Name
    Licensing Agent Name

20. Add a "Platform" field to SUSHI Release 5 Account Details

    A field for Platform needs to be added to the SUSHI Release 5 account details page. Some vendors, specifically Elsevier, require that platform information is included to harvest data via SUSHI.

    LibInsight provides a "platform" field in the SUSHI release 5 account set up. With COUNTER 4, the platform was provided before the customer ID (SD/C000000123). For release 5, a separate field is required.

    As of July release the SUSHI Account Details page now includes a Platform field. This field should be populated for vendors that require a platform code for successful harvesting of usage data. Note that the platform code is case sensitive. Only one platform code can be used per SUSHI account.
