  2. Allow starting Course Load jobs via API

We'd like to be able to kick off course loads via the API. The machinery needed to do that seems to be in place but customers are prevented from using it and are forced to schedule the job using the Alma UI.

  3. Allow work order names to be translated

The name field of work orders displays in PVE (for example "In Process of Repair until..." for a work order named 'Repair'). However it's currently not possible to provide a translation for these labels, which is problematic in multilingual contexts.

Alma enhanced its capabilities to define language variants for the names of Work-Order-Types. The enhancements include:

    • An added language (globe) icon for the Work-Order-Type field.
    • Based on the current language of the staff or patron, the relevant value is displayed.

  4. Option to disable confirmation messages (not of deletion actions)

That will be great if there will be an option to disable the confirmation messages when performing actions that are not of deletion (see attached image).

The confirmation message “The description may need to be updated as well (using the generate button)” was improved to only show when relevant fields were changed and the description was not generated or updated manually. Customers who never require a reminder for updating the description are able to disable it completely.

  5. Displaying request notes in the pick from shelf list

Request notes sometimes contain important information, but are well hidden from staff. To read them, they need to print a resource request slip, export a print slip report, check (edit) every single request, or use resource request monitoring, processes that waste paper and time.

Wouldn't it be nice to have comments displayed directly in the Pick From Shelf list? Or at least some sort of warning that yes, there is a note added to this request? And also in the Alma mobile app.

As part of Alma June release notes:
On the Pick from Shelf list, if one or more request notes exist, they are now displayed aggregated together with a “|” (pipe symbol) in between each request. Only notes for active requests that are being picked by the current circulation desk are displayed. The notes of the active request are presented in the Pick Up Requested Resources page in no specific order. If you click the link for the request queue, all requests are displayed along with a new column that displays the request notes

  6. Add a "Platform" field to SUSHI Release 5 Account Details

A field for Platform needs to be added to the SUSHI Release 5 account details page. Some vendors, specifically Elsevier, require that platform information is included to harvest data via SUSHI.

LibInsight provides a "platform" field in the SUSHI release 5 account set up. With COUNTER 4, the platform was provided before the customer ID (SD/C000000123). For release 5, a separate field is required.

  7. Add Electronic Services information to the Analytics Link Resolver subject area

Currently the Link Resolver subject area of Analytics allows us to generate reports on the number of times all electronic services are delivered and clicked.
We would like to see the details of which electronic services are being clicked, and which are not.
This is valuable information for us when making decisions about collection displays and edits we might make to the online services order.
To do inform these decisions we would like the Electronic services information to be added to the Link Resolver subject area in Analytics.

You can now create reports for the number of times a service was clicked. To allow this feature, the OpenURL Service Details dimension was added to the Link Resolver Usage subject area. It contains the following fields:

    • Electronic Collection ID
    • Electronic Collection Name
    • Interface Name
    • Is Clicked Service
    • Is Digital Service
    • Is Electronic Service
    • Is Network Service
    • Portfolio ID
    • Service Type

For more information, see OpenURL Service Details.

  9. Upgrade internal XSLT processor

    Copied from https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308179-rosetta/suggestions/31088020-upgrade-internal-xslt-processor

Currently ALMA seems to accept only XSLT 1.0 syntax for XSLT custom letter configuration files. This means we are deprived of the many goodies of XSLT 2.0 and 3.0:

    • strong typing and XSD types
    • XPATH 2.0 sequences
    • XSL functions
    • range variables
    • regular expression matching and grouping
    • URL encoding and decoding
    • better value comparison

EXSLT 1.0 is not supported either, so whenever I try to do something more intelligent that some simple markup and string replacing, I hit the limits of XSLT 1.0. Trying to make decisions in your XSLT based on element values without regular expressions is…

  10. Add Breadcrumbs (Collection Path) to Alma Viewer

Like Hansel & Gretel, would be good for users to have a trail of breadcrumbs to follow home.

That is option for Alma Viewer to display the context of the item (which collection the item belongs to if any) as defined by Alma Collections and published to Primo discovery collection lobby.

This would enable the user, provided with a deep-link to an item in Alma Viewer, to browse related items (other items in the same collection) in Primo or return home where applicable.

  11. MDE : holding field 852 - display only the libraries in the scope of physical inventory operator

When creating a holding in MDE, the cataloger has to choose a library in the list of libraries of the institution for completing field 852 $$b.
The full list of all libraries of the institution in displayed for the user, even if the user has a physical inventory operator role with a scope on only one library.
As a result he has to scroll down the list of libraries to find his own library.
It would be much quicker if only the libraries in his scope were displayed.

  12. Display of the RS Request Number in the patron's requests tab in Alma and Primo is missing

We have problems with our communication to our patrons when resource sharing borrowing requests are affected.
In the requests tab in the patron's account in Alma there is no possibility to display directly the request number (External ID) which is outstanding in the SNLP workflow. The staff at the circulation desk has to click 3 times (place in queue, barcode, resource sharing request) to see the related number to identify the correct borrowing request. After that you have to copy the number to put it in the search box of the borrowing requests after you have chosen the desired search…

  13. Ship digitally

We find the digitization workflow for Resource sharing tedious, and would like to have a shortcut directly from action menu, like for item and non-returnable.

This would be a new action from the Lending request: Ship digitally.

From there you should get the option to add a file, and ship it digitally to Borrowing library.

    Please see attachment for illustration.

  14. Hide DARA from public view

People who do not use DARA see the recommendations and dismiss them, not realizing that they are doing so for all of a site. Could Alma be removed from the upper bar? If this feature were less prominent, we think this would happen less often.

  15. Allow labeling of parameters like local param 01, 02 for bib and holdings

Alma allows adding bib or holding field additions into Alma Analytics
    https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Knowledge_Articles/Add_bibliographic_fields_to_Alma_Analytics

For instance you can request that "local param field 01" pulls the 690 field. However, you cannot change the "local param field 01" label in analytics from "local param 01" to 690. This is not user friendly because the availability of the 690 field in your analytics report isn't apparent to users.

I'd like to request the ability to locally label these local param fields so they match up with what the fields actually do in an analytics report.

  17. Provide an integration profile for Ebook Central subscribed titles

We subscribe to the collection Ebook Central Academic Complete International Edition. The number of subscribed titles on the Ebook Central platform is currently around 185 000. However, the Community Zone collection only has around 164 000 titles.

According to ProQuest, there are differences between countries in terms of the number of titles available for a specific customer, based on copyright and publisher restrictions. However, there is only one collection in the Community Zone (i.e. the International Edition package), which would mean that the actual number of titles in that collection does not correctly reflect each international customer's subscribed and active…

    Hi,
ProQuest Ebook Central integration supports activating subscription content according to the customer ID – this functionality is available for early access customers and will be available for the wider community at a later release. If your institution will like to take part in the early access initiative please contact me directly

  18. Make Proxy For Tab Information Available in Analytics to Search For

Please make the information from the "Proxy For" tab in Alma a searchable field in the Alma Analytics. We have had to come up with alternative ways to track the information, which is time consuming and not always reliable as some staff may not be reporting that they are creating a proxy user link.

  19. Search by any standard number in Search External Resources

We would like to be able to search WorldCat by any standard number (UPC, ISMN, music publisher number, video publisher number, etc.) through the Search External Resources tool. This would be particularly helpful for locating audio-visual resources without having to search in the native interface.

  20. Allow Acq managers to force POs to close.

There are a number of occasions where POs get stuck at 'sent' where they should be closed. Currently we have to contact Salesforce to close these which is needlessly time consuming for all parties. It would be very helpful if Alma had the option select closed as a status type that would override the sent status regardless of activation/receipt status of the order.

This was identofied as a defect that was resolved as part of Alma January release
In some cases, the PO status was stuck in Sent even though all PO Lines were closed or cancelled. This was fixed.
