Add Breadcrumbs (Collection Path) to Alma Viewer
Like Hansel & Gretel, would be good for users to have a trail of breadcrumbs to follow home.
That is option for Alma Viewer to display the context of the item (which collection the item belongs to if any) as defined by Alma Collections and published to Primo discovery collection lobby.
This would enable the user, provided with a deep-link to an item in Alma Viewer, to browse related items (other items in the same collection) in Primo or return home where applicable.

It would be very useful having that in the new Alma viewer.
Following our initial design, it's clear the development of such a feature would be very non-trivial, and we would like to suggest an alternative approach. Starting from March, institutions will be able to embed the Alma viewer into Primo's full-display page.
Our assumption is that Primo full-display could then be provided as the deep-link to a digital record, instead of a link to the viewer, providing a single page with direct view of the files and all other configurable details provided by Primo, including the collection breadcrumbs.
Our strategy is to integrate the discovery and delivery of digital records, rather than plant Primo elements into the viewer.
Please let me know if this approach would cater for your needs.

Opening the relevant Primo link in a new tab would be great
Thank you for your suggestion. Assuming majority of the end-users will reach the viewer through Primo (which opens a tab for the viewer) could you please describe the desired behaviour from your pov once the user selects the link to Primo from the viewer? Open an additional Primo tab? Thank you, Daniel
