  1. In Primo VE, in the Get It service in full record display

    In Primo VE, in the Get It service in full record display add real-time availability summary, for example: (4 copies, 1 available, 0 requests) to the OTB top level display for each Location.
    Currently, the user has to click on the Location to see availability information.
    This development would bring VE in step with Primo.

  2. Access by IP-Ranges : add criteria in Primo Analytics

    Primo Analytics should support IP ranges as a filter criteria in the usage reports. This will enhance our statistics, for instance:

    • how much usage is generated by certain libraries?
    • how many patrons use primo off-campus or via VPN?
    • are there users not affiliated with the university?
    • what is the percentage of usage generated by library staff?
    • etc.

    The IP ranges might be taken from the backoffice configuration

    Referrer is only in the Primo Action Usage Subject Area. This field should be added to other subject areas as appropriate -- like Primo Sessions

  4. Dedup and FRBR cluster monitoring

    Since BIRT reports in back office are being deprecated and they are not available in VE, those who implement Dedup or FRBR will have no way to monitor the clusters that goes beyond what's currently in analytics (just a report of cluster sizes). Size of clusters is important, but when "impossibly large" clusters form (we recently noticed many, up to 89 members!), we need to be able to see the records forming the cluster in order to diagnose problems.   5. Add enabling/disabling OpenURL as option in Direct Linking Configuration

    Some libraries (like mine) would appreciate the ability to disable direct linking for incoming OpenURL searches while enabling direct linking for other functions (such as direct linking from results list). We would like this flexibility because we find that direct linking from the results list saves the time of our users, but direct linking from incoming OpenURL searches is more confusing. We don't want to have to turn off direct linking altogether to help solve this confusion, but have no choice with current settings.   6. Smart login messages - Do not show login message in the ViewIt for Open Access material

    If a user is not logged in they get the Login message on the ViewIt and GetIt tab, whether they need to login to access that resource or not.

    For example, Open Access material.

    We have had many instances of users complaining that they have to login to access OA material. In fact they do not need to login to access this material. The Primo login message is confusing and misleading the user to think that they do need to login.

  7. Add spacing between multiple entries of same marc field

    Often, and especially in archival description, we use the same marc fields several times in the same record. So, more than 1 520 (description/scope&content) or more than 1 545 (bio/hist note) and many others.

    The current display in primo ve kinda "smooshes" them all together. Would be great for readability if there was at least a space between multiple entries of the same field in any given record. Attachment has example in primo ve and one in - believe it or not - digitool, where there are extra spaces between each of the repeated fields. Much easier to read.

  8. Improve filtering when searching in Journals

    When we try to filter by year for a journal with multiple locations, it goes to a screen that doesn't contain the filtered year. The search can end up looping back and forth, and one ends up having to click to find more items rather than getting to the year requested.   9. Primo VE: Availability of print inventory with multiple holdings

    In Primo VE, when availability is calculated for print inventory with holdings in multiple libraries, please show the library with the most items first.

    For example if there are 25 items in the Main Library and 3 items in the Law Library, Primo should display “Available at Main Library… and other locations”.

    Primo should not display “Available at Law Library… and other locations.”

  11. Allow more than four fields to display in the Brief Record Display

    Please allow more than 4 fields to display in the brief record display. We would like Course Informaton to display for our Course Reserves. Why is there a limit? We should be able to add as many fields as we would like to the brief record display.

  12. Overdue notices from Alma in Primo

    In the mouse-over appearing in My loans above ‘not renewable’ a user sees all overdue notices that he/she has received for that specific item.
    For instance when the user gets the fourth overdue notice he/she also sees the third and the second one in the small mouse-over text.

    For a better readability we’d like only the most recent notice to appear in the mouse-over.

  13. Use of initial articles in title starts with searches in Primo Advanced Search

    Primo is currently unable to adequately accommodate initial articles (a, an, the etc.) when doing a title starts with search in Advanced Search.

    The first title field that appears in the sort section of the PNX is used as the title that is matched against when doing a title starts with search but this leads to different outcomes depending on whether the records are indexed from PCI or Alma:

  14. Enhanced logo and help link for social authentication page

    We are in the process of migrating to Alma/Primo VE. They both share the same social authentication page, and this idea is to enhance the options for this page.

    1.) The Primo VE help links which are configurable in Alma config > Discovery > Authentication > User Authentication only appear in the Alma authentication option. If a new patron clicks Sign in, and then clicks Social Sign In, they will never see our help links. I would like to have the option to put a help link on the first Sign in modal page, or on the Social Authentication page…

  15. Detailed Results in-view counter

    Primo system allows for viewing detailed results of a given search, one at a time. Navigation through the results is being done using the Arrow icons of the side of the display (picture attached).

    Currently there is no option to know your current position on a line of numerous results.

    It would be useful to be able to view a counter next to the arrow icons which will indicate my current position on the results line, for example "Result 5 out of 17". Attached is an example of that feature in the ALEPH interface.

  16. Chinese characters ordered by stroke count

    If we choose sort by "Title" for result list, it seems the Chinese titles are in order of the Unicode Number of Chinese Character. (Please find the attachment file.)

    Actually, Chinese are used to sort by number of strokes. Normal users don't understand the Unicode Number.

    We would like to change order way of Chinese titles by stroke count which is best for Chinese users. Thank you.

  17. Change wording of "partial results found" error message

    Currently when users enter too many boolean operatoCurrently when users enter too many boolean operators or trucation symbols in their search they will get the error message "Partial results found. Please note additional results may be available by refining your search. May we suggest: try reducing the numbers of ? and/or * in your search."

    This error message is confusing. What it should really say is something like this:

    Alma allows us to make the bib record for an electronic collection like Wiley e-Books viewable by customers in Primo. We would like the contents of the electronic collection to be displayed when the user clicks on the electronic collection name in Primo.
