Import Special Characters from ILLiad to Alma's temporary item via NCIP Connection
Special characters, such as in Asian, Arabic, and Slavic languages, turn into question marks (??????) when Alma's temporary item is created via the NCIP connection with ILLiad for incoming Borrowing Loan items. So, the patrons cannot tell which ILL item is which in their Primo library account, also Hold Slips are printed with "?????" as the titles and authors and very confusing for both staff and patrons.
Because the API for ILLiad and Alma connection was created by a third party and is not going to be updated, please consider creating Exlibris' own API (ILLiad Addon) for the NCIP connection so that non-Anglo languages' special characters and diacritics can be imported into Alma as a hidden temporary item record.
