link licenses to digital representations
make license linking for digital representations consistent with license linking for electronic resources

The University of Tennessee also supports this idea. We have the same situation as described by the University of South Australia. We've noticed that vendors for some digital content without a platform, such as digital films, digital ebooks, digital music scores, and datasets, require a license to be signed before we can buy the digital content. We would like to associate a license record with a digital representation and have those terms display to the public in Primo just like our electronic inventory.

Definitely useful for managing custom permissions

University of South Australia supports this Idea. When we add to our holdings a stand-alone digital resource (i.e. not part of a collection or portfolio), we add the digital representation to a 'catch-all' electronic collection. Since it's not possible to associate a license record directly with a digital representation, our workaround is to add a 540 note to the relevant bibliographic record, entering a note in the $a subfield (Terms governing use and reproduction) referring to the license record.
