Making it possible to use both arrow sign (←, →) as characters and Alma's directional character function.
When we configure [Alma configration > Resources > General > Other settings > enabledirectionalcharacters > true], "←" and "→" can't be entered in the MDE.
Also, if opening migrated records which include "→", all the "→" are deleted like the example below.
Example)
Before
After
It takes time if we modify these records and also we can't follow cataloging standard ("→" sometimes includes in a title etc. of a material). Especially for cataloging of Japanese serials, "→" (as a character) is often used in bibliographic records.
Ex Libris proposed us to change the configuration above to "false" to use "→". However it causes a problem of MDE's display for records which includes right to left script (e.g. Arabic) becaue we can't use "Directional Characters".
Don't you think we should be able to use both arrow sign (←, →) as characters and Alma's directional character function?
