De-normalize http & https in searches for urls in Alma
Alma has normalized http & https searching so that it will not distinguish between either in a repository search. Proposing this not be normalized as these are an important part of a URL and need to be found, separate from each other.
-
Please see attached.
As you can see:
If an electronic portfolio has https then when searching by URL it is found when entering text https as part of the URL and is not found when entering text http (no s) as part of the URL.
If an electronic portfolio has http then when searching by URL it is not found when entering text https as part of the URL and is found when entering text http (no s) as part of the URL.
Similarly:
If a bibliographic record has https in the 856 field then it is found when searching by “Electronic location and note” if entering https in the search field and not found when entering http (no “s” in the search field.
Thus: please clarify what you mean by “Alma has normalized http & https searching so that it will not distinguish between either in a repository search.”
