Searching Locally Controlled Indexes
If an locally controlled index is under authority control, I would like to be able to search it by selecting from a drop-down list populated by the controlled terms. So, for example, I have created a locally controlled index for the Bibliographic 946 field and assigned it a controlled vocabulary. I would like searching on that field to function the same way as Content Type Term.
See attached for mockup.

I agree! It will be very useful for fields with closed list of control terms - the patron doesn't know the exact terms, so searching just by keywords like that is quite useless.
A good example - In Primo VE you can assign only one resource type for every bibliographic record, and so we have to be creative if we want to let our patrons the option to search for an additional resource type (for example: newspaper that is also microform; we can't search by microform, because the resource type is newspaper). Therefore the content, media and carrier types, which are closed lists following the RDA, can be helpful here. For that to be actually effective we need it as a drop-down list with all the terms.
There are other cases that such thing can be used, especially in Primo VE that is less flexible in that area.
