Make ID fields for which a barcode scanner can be used, programmable to omit first or last characters read in by scanner.
We import user records for 4 campuses. One campus uses a 9 in front of the student's primary id which can be scanned into Alma. Getting barcode readers to modify a scanned string is difficult, especially on older readers. It would be great if somewhere in the institution parameters, the Primary ID field could be programmed to omit first character only when scanned in using a barcode reader. Ideally, this programming would allow someone to define the parameters so that you could tell Alma, read in from scan digits 1-9, 2-9, 2-8, etc. as there are often alpha/numeric prefixes and suffixes that barcode readers tag onto the scanned code which are used to define tracks, and other modifiers.
