Enable labeling enumeration and chronology fields
It can be difficult to recall the meaning of enumeration and chronology fields, e.g., Enumeration A, Enumeration B, Chronology I, etc.). It would be helpful if general system administrators could change the labels of these that show to staff, for example, change Enumeration A to Year.

Great suggestion, but unfortunately, labeling is problematic, since MARC21 prescribes different information for the various ENUM/CHRON fields, depending upon what information, in total, is present on the item. So, although Primo forces us to always use CHRON I for the year if we want the dates to match up with the labels on the holdings filter drop-downs, according to MARC21, a year on a serial which does not use enumeration should actually go in the ENUM A field.
I also like the suggestion of drop downs, but in this case, it is likewise impractical, since there is so much variability in what can/should go in any one field.

Agree soo much! But the Enum A, B, C, Chron I J K labels have actually been instructive when learning about how these match up to pattern types and prediction patterns. I think both parts should be included so that it's easy to tell what goes in the field, but also easy to match it to the MARC tag that it is creating or linked to.
Ex. "Year (Enum A)"
I even wonder though, if it could be automated further with drop-down menus so you could choose the year from a list? This could improve standardization so that everyone is entering months in the same format etc. I never knew that there were numeric codes for seasons, but there are! Having those spelled out in a drop down menu would make it so much easier than having to reference something from Library of Congress each time...
